Every man is the same; when he sees the woman he loves, all he can think about is that. There's nothing strange about it. Lin Lin pretended to be indifferent, narrowing her eyes and leaning peacefully against Changqing. She showed no resistance to his caresses.
Changqing was getting a bit carried away.
"Don't do that! What are you doing?" Lin Lin pulled away from Changqing's embrace.
"I—" Changqing's face turned red, and for a moment, he didn't know what to say.
"Wen Sheng and the others are outside; what do you think I am?" Lin Lin said, a hint of anger in her voice.
"I'm sorry! I got a little impulsive!" Changqing admitted frankly.
"Just hold it in!" Lin Lin chuckled lightly.
Hearing Lin Lin laugh, Changqing realized the crisis had passed.
"Hehe!" Changqing chuckled, rubbing his nose and giving his slicked-back hair a casual toss.
"I have to go back now. You can't go around talking about today!" Lin Lin warned Changqing with a serious face. "And you can't tell Wen Sheng either!"
"I know! Baby!" Changqing replied playfully.
"Who’s your baby? Ugh, how annoying!" Lin Lin blushed and laughed, but inside, she felt sweet warmth.
"Hehe!" Changqing leaned in again to hug Lin Lin.
"Alright! Stop dragging this out!" Lin Lin said, gently struggling against him.
"Can't bear to let go! Just one more hug!" Changqing insisted.
"You guys are really annoying!" Lin Lin dodged Changqing's kiss.
“Almost there! It's about to get bright! Stop being so clingy!” Wen Sheng said softly from outside the woods, causing Wen Xin to giggle.
“Why don’t you just die!” Lin Lin broke free from Changqing’s embrace and shouted at Wen Sheng.
“I won’t die! If you think I’m interrupting your good time, then just carry on. I’ll pretend I know nothing!” Wen Sheng replied with a laugh.
“What are you talking about? You’re so annoying!” Lin Lin stepped out, her face flushed as she smiled at Wen Sheng.
“Annoying!” Wen Xin echoed with a giggle, mimicking Lin Lin.
“You little girl! What do you know? This is adult business; kids shouldn’t butt in!” Lin Lin waved her hand dismissively. “Let’s head back first!” She pulled Wen Xin along.
As they entered the village and walked around a small tree, Wen Xin kicked a pebble while Lin Lin remained quiet, smiling slightly as if lost in thought.
“Did he kiss you?” Wen Xin asked while kicking the pebble.
“Why are you asking so much?” Lin Lin playfully nudged Wen Xin’s head with a smile.
“Sorry! So that means he did kiss you, huh?” Wen Xin grinned. “What was it like?”
“Why are you so curious about that? You want to grow up too fast?” Lin Lin shot back teasingly.
“No way!” Wen Xin tilted her head and laughed.
As they continued walking, they soon arrived in front of Lin Lin's house. The door was slightly ajar, and Lin Lin pushed it open, turning back to say, “Why don’t you sleep over with me tonight?”
“Sure! Sure!” Wen Xin beamed. “I’ll go tell Grandma! Mom isn’t home!”
“Alright, I’ll wait for you! Hurry up!” Lin Lin smiled.
Wen Xin ran back home just as Wen Sheng arrived.
“Er Ge! I'm going to sleep at Linlin's! Is that okay?” Wen Xin said upon seeing Wen Sheng.
“Of course! But I should warn you, Linlin is quite mischievous!” Wen Sheng replied with a mischievous grin.
“Cut it out!” Wen Xin rolled her eyes at Wen Sheng and tossed her long hair as she ran off.
“Where did Wen Xin go?” Grandma asked when she heard Wen Xin come in.
“She went to sleep at Linlin's house!” Wen Sheng replied softly.
“Why go to someone else's house to sleep? There’s plenty of space here!” Grandma said.
“Just indulge her!” Wen Hao chimed in as he walked in from outside, smoking a cigarette.
“Let her sleep! It’s getting late. Your mother went to your aunt's to borrow money and hasn’t come back yet. What do you want a phone for? Look at who’s using the phone! If you don’t make your parents suffer, you’re not satisfied, are you?” Grandma scolded Wen Hao.
“A motorcycle. If you won’t buy me one, can’t I at least get a phone for a thousand or so?” Wen Hao replied stubbornly.
“Aren't you just being unreasonable?” Wen Sheng said, not really angry.
“I’m not talking to you; you’re silly!” Wen Hao shot a glance at Wen Sheng. He nodded, humming a tune that no one could understand, his thin frame resembling a blackened ribcage, and headed into his room to sleep.
Wen Sheng stepped outside and looked at the road in front of the house; it was still the same as before.
Linlin pulled Wen Xin into her house. The yard was a bit dark, but there was light coming from Linlin's mother's room.
“Linlin is back! Where did you go with Wen Xin?” Linlin's Mother asked.
"Let's go play cards!" Lin Lin said casually.
"Get to bed early!" Linlin's Mother replied.
"Okay!" Lin Lin agreed as she and Wen Xin entered the room, gently turning on the light and then closing the door. The room was still arranged the same way, except for a light red floral blanket spread over the bed, filling the air with a faint fragrance.
Wen Xin jumped onto the bed, hugging Lin Lin's toy and shaking it back and forth. "Give me a smile!"
"Stop messing around, just sleep!" Lin Lin laughed at Wen Xin, then took off her jacket, revealing her graceful figure.
"Hey! What's this book?" Wen Xin exclaimed, noticing a corner of a book peeking out from under Lin Lin's pillow. She quickly pulled it out and stared at it wide-eyed.
"Don't touch my things!" Lin Lin rushed over to hug Wen Xin, trying to snatch it back.
"I just want to see! I just want to see!" Wen Xin giggled as she looked at the woman on the cover and the words above it, her face turning red. It was the classic "Jin Ping Mei," and it was an uncut edition.
Lin Lin's face also flushed with embarrassment.
