Wen Sheng pondered for a moment before suggesting an idea to Gao Liang. Gao Liang shook his head in response, “No way! That’s a bit pathetic! I can’t do that; I’m the big brother!”
“Haha! Even a big brother needs to be flexible to avoid losses!” Wen Sheng chuckled.
“Even if I bend, it can’t be like yours. You’ve turned me into a worm! I may not be a dragon, but I’m at least a snake! So that approach is definitely out!” Gao Liang thought for a moment.
“In the Spring and Autumn period, Gou Ge once endured hardships and ate bitter herbs! Look at what he became! What do you think you are?” Wen Sheng grinned mischievously.
“That’s just enduring hardship! I know that; I’m not a king!” Gao Liang laughed.
“Eating bitter herbs is uncomfortable, but they’re nutritious. Otherwise, how did Yue defeat Wu later? Gou Ge ate so many bitter herbs that he gained strength and courage!” Wen Sheng continued his banter.
“You’re twisting history! When I listen to you, it sounds all jumbled. Don’t lecture me on history; I know it all. Just tell me how to regain my face right now. Otherwise, how am I supposed to keep my reputation? This time, I really lost face!” Gao Liang sighed.
“I think Shifu's Wife is right; face is something you earn yourself!” Wen Sheng added.
“Are you still thinking about Shifu's Wife? Let me tell you, if you dare to go after her, I’ll take you down! You haven’t even entered the door yet, and you’re already thinking of putting a green hat on Shifu. That’s unacceptable! If it comes to that, I won’t want you as my disciple anymore! Haha!” Gao Liang interrupted before Wen Sheng could finish.
“Equal forces mean both sides suffer losses! If the other side doesn’t have much power, just take them down directly! But if their strength is similar to yours, I suggest you take a step back; otherwise, Shifu's Wife might really end up with me!” Wen Sheng said with a sly smile.
Gao Liang understood the seriousness of the situation. If he took people to retaliate, the other side had plenty of supporters and allies. Ignoring their presence would be suicidal; after all, allies were always the most significant factor in any situation.
“Haha! I’ll have the government accompany me to apologize! Let’s see how they react. If they give us face, we’ll be friends from now on. If they don’t give us face…” Gao Liang’s eyes glinted.
“Let’s hold off for now. Whether they give us face or not, we must ensure they wear shoes that fit them later on,” Wen Sheng said cheerfully.
“So what you mean is we should give them face now but look for opportunities to retaliate later? That seems a bit underhanded!” Gao Liang frowned slightly.
“Haha, I didn’t mean it that way. Shifu is an upright person!” Wen Sheng flattered.
“Dinner’s ready!” Sun Xia entered with her sleeves rolled up and smiled. Her arms were as white as radishes and plump; Wen Sheng couldn’t help but think about dipping them in some sauce for a taste!
“Shifu's Wife!” Wen Sheng called out with a slightly exaggerated tone that bordered on annoying.
“Why has your address changed so quickly?” Sun Xia asked with a smile.
“Gao Liang has taken me as his apprentice, so of course, you are now Shifu's Wife. From now on, take good care of me and get closer! Hehe!” Wen Sheng chuckled.
“Oh! So, you’ve taken on an apprentice? Hehe! That’s interesting!” Sun Xia laughed.
“Haha! What delicious dishes has Shifu's Wife prepared?” Wen Sheng asked with a grin.
“Follow me to the kitchen and help serve the dishes! If you work hard, I might take you under my wing too!” Sun Xia teased Wen Sheng.
Surprisingly, Wen Sheng acted like a true apprentice, lowering his head and trailing behind Sun Xia into the kitchen. Gao Liang watched Wen Sheng’s departing figure with a smile, thinking of Sun Xia, which made him chuckle. Changqing and Gao Ming whispered to each other nearby.
“Dinner is ready! Shifu's Wife has cooked some amazing dishes!” Wen Sheng exclaimed as he brought out a plate.
Although Sun Xia found it a bit nauseating to be called Shifu's Wife, hearing compliments about herself made her feel quite pleased. A slight blush appeared on her smooth face, accompanied by a radiant smile. “Hehe,” she giggled shyly.
As the dishes were laid out, the men wanted to drink. It seemed that in rural customs, when men drank, women could only stand aside and watch. Wen Sheng didn’t like this tradition; he believed men and women should be equal.
“Shifu's Wife should sit down and have a drink too!” Wen Sheng insisted as he stood up.
“I don’t drink!” Sun Xia waved her hand with a smile.
“It’s fine, just sit down and have a couple of drinks!” Gao Liang encouraged with a grin.
Hearing Gao Liang speak up made her feel a bit shy, but she sat down anyway. Of course, she couldn’t sit as casually as the men; being a woman required her to maintain some modesty, especially since Gao Liang had always held her in high regard.
Her long hair flowed freely, styled in soft curls. With her round face and slightly flushed lips, even her smile was enchanting. She wore a short red blouse adorned with black flowers—thin and slightly transparent—allowing glimpses of her skin beneath. Her white sheer pants did little to conceal her graceful figure. On her feet were shiny red high-heeled sandals, complemented by purple-painted toenails. Wen Sheng couldn’t help but steal glances at her; he felt as if his nose might bleed from the sight.
Lost in thought, Wen Sheng steadied himself and poured a glass of wine, presenting it before Sun Xia: “I’m raising a toast to Shifu's Wife!”
"I don't drink!" Sun Xia said, a hint of shyness in her voice.
"Come on! It's rare for my disciple to be so considerate! Haha!" Gao Liang laughed.
Hearing Gao Liang's words, Wen Sheng eagerly leaned forward with his wine glass, accidentally bumping into his Shifu's Wife. Wen Sheng felt a wave of dizziness wash over him, thinking to himself that he was doomed. Even if his master didn't take action, Wang Lijuan would surely have his head.
Sun Xia pushed the glasses away twice but had no choice but to accept one. She took a sip and exclaimed, "No way, it's too spicy! I can't drink this!"
"Hehe!" Seeing Sun Xia's flushed face, Wen Sheng couldn't help but smile proudly.
After finishing their meal, Wen Sheng and the others had to head off to class.
"Master, I'm leaving now. Take care!" Wen Sheng said with a smile as he addressed Gao Liang. He couldn't resist glancing back at Sun Xia, who smiled sweetly in return.
On the asphalt road, three figures walked together: Wen Sheng, Gao Liang, and Changqing.
