As the Second Sun rose, Wen Sheng and Changqing walked together on their way to school. The warm sunlight filtered through the gaps in the treetops, casting ink-like patterns on the ground. A gentle breeze played with Wen Sheng's not-so-long hair, and a half-smile danced on his face.
"You were impulsive last night for no reason! That girl will like you sooner or later; there's no need to rush. You barely know her, and you already want to jump in! You’re too reckless. Luckily, I arrived just in time!" Wen Sheng chuckled.
"I don’t know what came over me! When I saw Lin Lin last night, she was just too tempting, and my heart started racing. It’s your fault! I almost went for it, but you pulled me back, haha!" Changqing replied with a grin.
"If I hadn’t pulled you back, would you have been able to come down? Even if Lin Lin becomes yours in the future, there will still be shadows in your heart. Do you understand?" Wen Sheng laughed.
"Yeah! How did you think I was possessed last night? You knocked me down and pinched my Ren Zhong Xue! If you hadn’t given me that look, I wouldn’t have figured out what trick you were playing. It was only later that I realized you were up to something too!" Changqing tilted his head and laughed.
"Haha! That’s called skill! If I hadn’t done that, how would Lin Lin see you? She’d think you were just a lecher! Haha! Even if you were possessed, it wouldn’t matter much; in Lin Lin’s eyes, you’re still a good guy!" Wen Sheng laughed heartily.
"You bastard, your acting isn’t half bad! Do you think Lin Lin would believe it?" Changqing asked with a hint of concern.
"Whether she believes it or not doesn’t matter! What’s important is that you believe it, and I believe it! As long as we take it seriously, it will always be true!" Wen Sheng smiled confidently.
Yes, even if it's a lie, treat it as the truth. Even if it's a bad thing, treat it as a good thing. As long as you honestly acknowledge it, and it feels right in your heart, then for you, it will always be right. Wen Sheng thought proudly. What utter nonsense.
"You’re something else! Casually turning lies into truths—tell me how the hell you do that?" Changqing asked with admiration.
"Haha! That’s called skill; I won’t tell you! If you learn it, you'll just turn around and trick me!" Wen Sheng laughed again.
"Then I'll give you a nickname: 'San Jia Daozhang'!" Changqing said proudly. "First, you're full of lies! Second, you're up to shady business! Third, your expressions are all fake! What honesty—I'll spit on your sunshine!"
"If my skills are real, then calling me 'three fakes' is a bit much! I’m genuinely a good person!" Wen Sheng said with a serious expression.
"I'll spit on your whole sun!" Changqing burst into laughter.
“Changqing!” A clear voice called out.
Wen Sheng turned around to see Qin chasing after them from behind.
“What’s up with you? What’s with the sun, the sun?” Qin asked with a grin.
“Just having some fun!” Wen Sheng replied cheerfully.
“You guys never have anything good to say when you’re together!” Qin rolled her eyes.
“Aren’t you girls the same? Two girls together never have anything nice to say either!” Changqing shot back defiantly.
“Hmph! I know what you’re up to, plotting and scheming against someone!” Qin teased with a mischievous smile.
Wen Sheng stole a glance at Qin. She wore a pink short sleeve shirt that revealed her delicate arms, and he could faintly see the white fabric of her shorts hugging her curves. Damn, he thought, “Qin Mei Mei, why are you dressed so beautifully today? You’re dazzling me! I can barely keep my eyes open; can you blow on them for me?”
“Get lost! You used to be so honest, but now you’ve turned into someone just like Changqing!” Qin said, tightening her expression in mock anger at Wen Sheng.
Uh-oh, Wen Sheng felt a wave of frustration wash over him. His pride had taken a hit! With a flushed face, he hung his head and said nothing.
After walking for a while, Qin noticed Wen Sheng’s demeanor and felt a bit guilty. “Hey! I’m sorry! I know you were just joking with me, and I was joking too. Why can’t you take a joke?”
“It’s my fault; I shouldn’t have said that to you! You’re right to be upset!” Wen Sheng replied, wearing a sorrowful expression.
“Alright! Don’t be mad anymore. Didn’t your little sister make it up to you? How about you hit me once to let off some steam?” Qin suggested with a comforting smile.
“Hit where? Sure! I’ll just give you a light tap; it won’t hurt. Let’s just hit your butt!” Wen Sheng's eyes lit up again with mischief.
"Give you a bit of sunshine, and you'll shine brightly! This time, it won't hurt your pride! I'll give you a chance; why don't you take me out for a meal? Consider it a date, how about that?" Qin smiled, testing the waters.
"Sure! I'm more than willing; I'm fearless!" Wen Sheng laughed again.
"Haha! You really believe that? Well, I won't settle for just a fifty-cent bun! At least there should be drinks, and it would be best if there were some gifts too." Qin pretended to be serious.
"Is that a problem? If you want to eat, I’d even sell my clothes to buy you something!" Wen Sheng acted very generous.
"Your clothes aren't worth much! You couldn't even buy a few buns with them!" Qin smirked playfully.
"Haha! I really don’t have much money!" Wen Sheng quickly changed his tone.
"What's wrong? Don't you want to take me out for a meal anymore?" Qin laughed heartily.
"Aren't you the one who thinks I'm too poor?" Wen Sheng tilted his head, grinning.
"Tch!" Qin rolled her eyes. "I didn't expect you to be all talk and no action when it comes to money! Haha!"
"Alright, it's settled then! Tonight, I'll treat you to dinner!" Wen Sheng appeared very generous.
"Why not lunch? Why does it have to be at night?" Qin was confused.
"It's just to see if you're sincere; I want to know if you're brave enough to go out with me at night," Wen Sheng replied.
"Going out at night with you? You might just eat me alive!" Qin rolled her eyes again.
"I'm quite the wolf, you know!" Wen Sheng grinned mischievously.
“Dogs that bite don’t bark! If you’re like this, I’ll just be cautious of you! I’ll bring a wolf-hunting stick when I come, hee hee!” Qin chuckled.
“If there’s no one else around, it wouldn’t be interesting! Are you brave enough to go on a date with me?” Wen Sheng tested her.
“What’s there to be afraid of? I don’t believe you’re that bad!” Qin pouted, laughing softly.
“That’s not good; he can be quite the flirt! You need to be careful! If you’re not cautious and he takes advantage of you, you’ll be at a loss!” Changqing reminded her. Suddenly, Changqing felt a bit uneasy at the thought of Wen Sheng and Qin going on a date together.
When school ended in the afternoon, it was still a bit early, but Wen Sheng really went to find Qin for their date.
“Qin Mei Mei, let me treat you to a meal!” Wen Sheng said quietly to Qin when he saw that there weren’t many people around.
Before Qin could respond,
“Sure!” Wang Lijuan suddenly appeared nearby. Her face was slightly flushed as she stared wide-eyed at Wen Sheng.
