The two members of the Red Flame Army were quite familiar with the structure of the battleship and quickly identified three locations where explosives needed to be placed: the armory, the keel, and the main mast. They swiftly devised an action plan in a secluded corner of the dining area.
"We are already familiar with the structure of this battleship," one of them whispered. "We need to place explosives in these three locations to ensure maximum destruction."
They thought for a moment and then pointed at Xiao Yun and Lian Rong. "You two go to the lowest part of the keel to place the explosives; this is the most critical location. After placing the explosives, light the fuse and you will have only five minutes to escape. Remember, once you finish, rush up to the deck with all your might and prepare to flee."
Xiao Yun and Lian Rong nodded, understanding the urgency and danger of the mission. They quickly took the explosives and fuses handed to them by the Red Flame Army and prepared to act. Another member of the Red Flame Army directed Guo Sheng to the armory while he himself took charge of the main mast.
"We will complete the mission in the shortest time possible," a member of the Red Flame Army advised at last, "Do not delay, and ensure safety."
Xiao Yun and Lian Rong cautiously made their way through the narrow corridor, quickly advancing toward the lowest level of the ship. The passages inside the vessel were dim and cramped, with a few soldiers passing by occasionally, all appearing somewhat fatigued and not particularly noticing the presence of the two. They took advantage of these brief moments to swiftly approach the keel.
When they finally reached the bottom of the dragon bone, Xiao Yun and Lian Rong immediately began to place the explosives. The space at the bottom was narrow, dim, and damp, filled with the smell of metal. They carefully placed the explosives in key positions of the dragon bone, ensuring they would have the maximum destructive effect.
After finishing the placement, Xiao Yun lit the fuse and said to Lian Rong in a low voice, "We only have five minutes, let's go, hurry!"
The two quickly got up and rushed toward the deck with all their might. The corridor inside the ship remained narrow, and the dim lights flickered as if warning them of the urgency of time. Their footsteps echoed in the hallway, each step filled with tension and pressure.
As they burst onto the deck, the surrounding security guards seemed unaware of anything unusual. Xiao Yun and Lian Rong exchanged a glance, silently understanding that this was the most critical moment.
As Xiao Yun and Lian Rong stood on the deck, contemplating how to leave safely, they noticed the Red Flame Army at the main mast waving at them, signaling them to remain calm. It seemed they were waiting for Guo Sheng and another member of the Red Flame Army to finish placing the bombs.
Suddenly, a rapid ringing sound from the dock shattered the brief calm on the deck. The soldiers turned their heads, trying to locate the source of the noise. Moments later, someone shouted loudly, "Hey! Where are the cleaners who just boarded?"
Xiao Yun and Lian Rong's hearts instantly leaped to their throats as they realized their cover had been blown. They hurriedly lowered their heads, trying to evade the soldiers' gazes, but they knew the situation was extremely dire.
At that moment, they heard a commotion of footsteps and shouts coming from below deck. Guo Sheng and the Red Flame Army rushed up, their faces filled with anxiety and panic. Guo Sheng shouted, "Run! We've been discovered!"
The five quickly gathered together and began to run frantically on the deck, trying to find a safe escape route. However, they soon discovered that the exit had been blocked by soldiers. The soldiers stood in formation, weapons drawn, their piercing gazes fixed on them.
The leading officer's expression was grim as he angrily exclaimed, "Damn it! Those brats from the Red Flame Army!"
Xiao Yun and the others suddenly felt trapped, their hearts cold. They were stuck on the deck, surrounded by enemies with no way to escape. One member of the Red Flame Army whispered to Xiao Yun, "We need to distract them; only then can we find a chance to escape."
Xiao Yun nodded, filled with determination. The five of them quickly spread out, trying to create chaos. Xiao Yun and Lian Rong ran to the left, while Guo Sheng and the other two members of the Red Flame Army charged to the right. The soldiers were momentarily taken aback by this sudden movement but quickly regained their composure and began to chase after them.
Xiao Yun and Lian Rong ran to the edge of the deck, seeing the bottomless sea below, a wave of despair washing over them. They exchanged a glance, knowing this was a matter of life and death. Lian Rong whispered, "Xiao Yun, get ready to jump!"
Xiao Yun nodded, just as she was about to leap, when suddenly a furious roar came from behind them: "Stop!"
They turned around and saw the leading officer charging towards them with a murderous look in his eyes. Xiao Yun knew there was no turning back at this point, they could only fight to the death.
"Jump!" Xiao Yun shouted, then pulled Lian Rong and leaped into the sea.
The cold seawater instantly surrounded them, and the strong impact made Xiao Yun feel a bit dizzy for a moment. But she didn't stop; she quickly swam toward the dock. Lian Rong followed closely behind, and the two of them paddled desperately, trying to shake off their pursuers.
The soldiers on the deck continuously shot arrows, attempting to hit the few people in the water. Arrows whistled through the air, plunging into the sea one after another, creating splashes. Xiao Yun could only keep dodging in the water, using the resistance of the water and the cover of the waves to protect herself. She felt each arrow whizzing past her, her heart racing faster and faster.
Five people desperately swam toward the distance, but the cold sea water and the threat of arrows made every inch of progress extremely difficult. Suddenly, a member of the Red Flame Army surfaced and shouted, "To the cave over there! Hurry!"
Xiao Yun followed his gesture and spotted a concealed cave along the distant coastline; it might be their only hiding place. She felt a surge of hope and was about to swim toward the cave when she suddenly heard a scream.
A member of the Red Flame Army had just shouted when an arrow swiftly shot through the air, striking him precisely in the head. The light in his eyes vanished in an instant, and he collapsed weakly into the water, dying on the spot. Blood quickly spread through the water, turning a section of the sea red.
Xiao Yun felt a jolt in her heart, overwhelmed by immense sorrow and fear, but she knew this was not the time to stop. She shouted loudly, "Quick! Swim towards the cave!"
Lian Rong and Guo Sheng also realized the urgency of the situation, and the four of them swam with all their might toward the cave. Arrows continued to rain down into the water, creating splashes everywhere, each arrow carrying a deadly threat. They could only rely on the resistance of the seawater and the cover of the waves to minimize the risk of being hit.
Xiao Yun felt her strength rapidly depleting, but she dared not stop; her mind was focused on one thought—survive. She exerted every ounce of her energy and finally reached the entrance of the cave. The cave was hidden in a secluded corner along the coast, surrounded by rocks and seaweed, forming a natural barrier.
The four quickly climbed ashore and hid inside a cave. The cave was dim and damp, but they finally had a moment to catch their breath. Xiao Yun leaned against the rock wall, breathing heavily, feeling her whole body trembling. Lian Rong and Guo Sheng were equally exhausted, but they knew that this moment of safety was hard-won.
