Su Jiao Jiao had opened a "black shop," and the piles of silver pouring in made her grin from ear to ear, her eyes squinting into crescent moons, radiating an unmistakable pride.
She was seated behind the counter, focused intently on her accounts, the beads of her abacus clicking rhythmically.
Suddenly, with a loud "bang," a group of fierce-looking men burst through the door.
Su Jiao Jiao's almond-shaped eyes widened in shock, a flash of anger crossing her face. Willow Brows stood tall, her voice sharp as she shouted, "Which blind fool broke the door? You’ll have to pay for the damages!" As she spoke, her grip on the abacus tightened instinctively, ready to use it as a weapon at any moment.
With a heavy thud, a large knife slammed onto the table, causing the account books to jump.
Realizing that the intruders meant trouble, Su Jiao Jiao's expression shifted from anger to a forced smile. She swayed her hips and stepped forward, speaking sweetly, "Gentlemen, what brings you here? This is just a small business..."
The leader of the group had a face as pale as paper, devoid of color. His cracked lips curled into a sneer as he glared at her and spat through gritted teeth, "A small business? This place is nothing but a black shop!"
Su Jiao Jiao shivered under his fierce gaze and instinctively shrank back but maintained her composure. Pointing at the prominent sign at the entrance, she boldly declared, "It’s called a black shop!"
Inwardly, she thought how unique her shop's name was—much more impressive than places like Yuelai Inn or Yuebing Tower!
Yang Lie did not appreciate her humor at all. He stepped forward, arms crossed over his chest, looking down at her with an intimidating presence. "Don’t play games with me. Do you believe I’ll smash this place to pieces?"
His subordinates raised their knives and clubs, waving them threateningly in the air while shouting menacingly.
The diners froze in fear, their faces drained of color as they scrambled to their feet and fled in panic.
Seeing this, Su Jiao Jiao was anxious and shouted, "You haven't paid yet..."
How much would this cost her!
Su Jiao Jiao felt as if her heart had been stabbed fiercely, causing her great pain. She raised her chin defiantly and said angrily, "If you don't compensate me for the losses today, I won't let this go!"
Don't think that just because she was a woman, she could be easily bullied!
Yang Lie's brows furrowed sharply, his eyes wide like copper bells as he shouted angrily, "You made me suffer from vomiting and diarrhea for three days! What do you think I want?"
"Wh-what..." Su Jiao Jiao instinctively wanted to retort, but when she looked up and saw Yang Lie's pale and haggard face, looking pitifully sick, the words caught in her throat, and she hesitated.
Yang Lie coldly said, "If you don't give me an explanation today, don't even think about keeping your shop open."
Su Jiao Jiao stubbornly refused to admit it. Tilting her head and rolling her eyes, she replied sharply, "Who knows if you're just trying to extort our little shop!"
In her heart, she speculated that it must be because her little shop was doing too well and attracting envy, or perhaps it was because of her striking beauty that Yang Lie was trying to pursue her! There couldn't possibly be a problem with the food in her shop... right?
Yang Lie was known as a bully in the city, notorious for never backing down.
He ran a martial arts school and was someone whom almost no one dared to provoke in Fengcheng County.
Upon learning about his background, Su Jiao Jiao's heart sank with a sense of foreboding.
She hurriedly ran to the kitchen, throwing all the potentially problematic ingredients into the rotten water bucket. What if Yang Lie found out? He would surely tear her apart!
Thinking of this, Su Jiao Jiao gritted her teeth and efficiently hoisted up the fifty pounds of pork she had bought at a bargain.
Suddenly, a large hand like a claw grabbed her collar, rendering her immobile.
Yang Lie sneered, mocking her, "Little Widow, don’t think I’ll let you off the hook!"
Could he really be planning to tear her skin off?
Su Jiao Jiao's heart raced in panic, pounding as if it would leap out of her throat.
However, Yang Lie simply lifted her up and strode outside.
"What do you want from me?" Su Jiao Jiao screamed in terror.
"To see the authorities!" Yang Lie shot her a disdainful glance, his eyes filled with contempt. "Or pay some medical fees. Considering your shop's profit for half a year, that would be a bargain for you."
Su Jiao Jiao widened her eyes and glared at him fiercely, cursing him in her heart. This was nothing short of robbery!
It was even more despicable than tearing her skin off! If he wanted to see the authorities, so be it; after all, there would be no witnesses!
