After finishing her shift, Zhu Hui rushed to Red Square without even stopping to eat. She had arranged to meet Yang Qianfan there to go kite flying at Jiang Tan, but she hadn’t anticipated how busy KFC would be that day. Her hands and feet barely had a moment of rest, and by the time she could head home, it was already quite late. The thought of Yang Qianfan waiting for her, looking like he was about to lose his mind, made Zhu Hui gasp. It seemed she was destined to endure another round of his furious scolding.
As she approached the entrance of Hualian Supermarket with her large bag in hand, she unexpectedly spotted Tang Hui walking out hand in hand with a beautiful girl who was about the same height as him. They were laughing together, and upon seeing them, Zhu Hui instinctively hid behind a large tree to observe the girl closely. The girl was truly stunning—she had delicate brows and big eyes, red lips and white teeth, with a perfectly shaped nose that added a classical charm to her beauty. Despite not wearing any makeup, her natural beauty radiated a fresh and pure vibe. Seeing Tang Hui so close to this beautiful girl led Zhu Hui to guess that she must be his girlfriend, and unable to contain her excitement, she ran over to greet them.
“Hey, Hui! What a coincidence to run into you here!” Zhu Hui said, pointing at the pretty girl beside him and deliberately asking, “Who is this?”
Tang Hui blushed at her question and replied, “She’s my girlfriend.”
“Really?” Zhu Hui looked up at the girl who towered over her and exclaimed, “Hui, your girlfriend is so beautiful!”
The girl blushed at Zhu Hui’s compliment and lowered her head with an awkward smile. “Zhu Hui, you really don’t recognize me anymore?”
Zhu Hui was puzzled by this and asked in confusion, “Have we met before?”
Seeing that Zhu Hui couldn’t recall her, the girl’s expression suddenly changed as she feigned a lighthearted demeanor. “I’m the class monitor from Sophomore Class 4! Long time no see! How have you been? Is your face all healed up? Do you need me to ask Liao Chengwei for your medical expenses?”
Zhu Hui’s memory sparked at her words, but she still wasn’t sure. She stood there in a daze for a moment.
“Hui, this is Xiao Yang! You can’t have really forgotten her!” Tang Hui reminded her from the side.
“You… you’re Rabbit… Rabbit Xiao…” Zhu Hui pointed at her in shock, unable to believe that this unadorned beauty was the same Xiao Yang who used to wear heavy makeup.
“That's right! I’m the Rabbit from before, now I’m Xiao Yang,” the girl said with a smile that made Zhu Hui chuckle. “We even got into fights back then!”
“How could you two possibly be together?” Zhu Hui furrowed her brows, casting an incredulous glance at them.
Seeing that she still refused to accept the reality before her, Xiao Yang's gaze dimmed, a hint of frustration creeping in. He sighed toward Tang Hui, “Well! She definitely won’t believe that we’re together.”
Tang Hui smiled gently at her and then turned to Zhu Hui. “Hui, she’s not the same Rabbit Xiaoyang that everyone feared in the past. She’s now a cashier at Hualian Supermarket, and just last week, she was recognized as an outstanding employee!” He glanced back at Xiao Yang, feeling immensely proud to have a girlfriend like her.
“Really? If that’s the case, then I truly wish you both the best,” Zhu Hui said, noticing how serious and happy Tang Hui was. She no longer doubted anything and thoughtfully added, “I believe you two must have gone through a lot of storms and hardships to get to this point, right?”
“Yeah! It’s a long story; I’ll tell you all about it when we have time later!” Tang Hui smiled at her sincerely. “Hui, you will always be our best friend.” When he said “we,” he couldn’t help but glance back at Xiao Yang.
“Of course,” Zhu Hui replied, grinning widely as she beamed at the two of them. “That’s great! Now I have another good friend, and she’s a beautiful one too!”
Xiao Yang couldn’t help but chuckle at her words.
“Hui, what do you want to buy at Hualian? Do you need us to accompany you inside?” Tang Hui suddenly asked.
Zhu Hui snapped back to reality with Tang Hui’s reminder and exclaimed in shock, “Ah! I completely forgot about that! I’m doomed; he’s going to scold me mercilessly this time.”
“Who are you talking about?” Tang Hui asked, puzzled.
“Ah! I can’t chat with you guys anymore; I have to go now. See you later!” Zhu Hui said hurriedly before rushing off.
Xiao Yang watched her departing figure, feeling a deep sense of emotion. She turned to Tang Hui and said, "No wonder you liked her so much in the past; she really is adorable!"
"What's wrong? Are you feeling jealous?" Tang Hui asked with a playful smile.
Xiao Yang shook her head at him and sighed, "It turns out that what attracts people the most in this world isn't a pretty face, but a confident smile, because it is filled with hope."
"Do you have a mirror?" Tang Hui suddenly asked.
"Why?"
"I want you to see that you also have that kind of confident smile on your face!"
Hearing this, Xiao Yang blushed and shyly smiled at him. After that, the two of them held hands and walked home together.
