They hadn't even reached the Temple Fair when Zhu Hui devoured the entire box of chocolates that Yang Qianfan had given her, leaving not a single piece behind. In the end, even the box that held the chocolates was not spared. As they approached the entrance of the Temple Fair, they encountered an old man collecting scrap. Zhu Hui sold him the chocolate box for fifty cents, then concocted a grand reason to slip the money into her pocket. 0

As soon as they entered the Temple Fair, they spotted a middle-aged man named Xie Le Ding squatting beside an artificial hill, eagerly trying to sell rabbits to passersby. Yang Qianfan found the rabbits adorable and turned to look at the equally charming Zhu Hui beside her. Suddenly inspired, she suggested, "How about I get you a pair of white rabbits as pets?" 0

"Pets? But I've never raised a pet before!" 0

"Do you want them or not? If not, then forget it." 0

"Who wouldn't want them? Of course I want them; free is free!" 0

Hearing her enthusiasm, Yang Qianfan dashed over to inquire about the price from the middle-aged man. When he saw them approaching, he eagerly picked out the prettiest rabbit from its cage and placed it before them, boasting with pride, "These rabbits are famous around here, known as 'Xi Shi Rabbit.' Since you both seem to like them so much, I'll sell them to you for just zero dollars each. Isn't that generous?" 0

"Pfft—'Xi Shi Rabbit'?" Zhu Hui scoffed dismissively and retorted sarcastically, "Why don't you say these rabbits are the Jade Rabbit beside Chang'e?" 0

The rabbit seller's face turned green with anger upon hearing this. He snapped back, "The price is right here; are you buying or not?" 0

"Your rabbits are still priced at twenty bucks each; that's not even enough for me to cook a single dish at home." 0

Yang Qianfan stood by and shivered at Zhu Hui's words. She covered her forehead and sighed, "I can't believe I forgot you're a true carnivore. It seems I was wrong to picture you as a cute girl who loves animals." 0

Curious about his muttering and sighing, Zhu Hui asked, "What are you mumbling about over there? Why are you shaking your head and sighing?" 0

"I'm not mumbling about anything; I just don't want to harm innocent creatures. I think we should skip buying any rabbits and just leave!" With that, Yang Qianfan firmly dragged Zhu Hui away from the group of pitiful rabbits. 0

"Why aren't we buying?" Zhu Hui lamented as she was pulled further away from the rabbits, her heart aching. She kept repeating, "My rabbit meat, my rabbit meat." 0

As Yang Qianfan took a few steps forward, he encountered an elderly man who specialized in measuring height and weight. The old man had prominent cheekbones, sparse but fluffy hair, and a round belly that made him look like a living version of Super Mario in suspenders. 0

Yang Qianfan thought to himself that it had been a long time since he last measured his height. He wondered if he had grown taller recently, so he eagerly pulled Zhu Hui along to measure their heights. 0

He stood on the height-measuring device, and a metal plate slowly descended, gently tapping the top of his head before rising back up. Moments later, the machine suddenly spoke, “Hello! Welcome! Your height is 186.5 centimeters, your weight is 70 kilograms. Your body type is basically normal; please continue to maintain it. Thank you! Goodbye!” 0

Hearing this, Yang Qianfan smiled with pride and muttered to himself, “I didn’t expect I’ve grown another 5 centimeters!” 0

“How come I didn’t notice? This old machine is just flattering you on purpose, measuring you taller so that you’ll come back again, you fool,” Zhu Hui remarked sarcastically from the side, though she felt quite envious inside. 0

The height and weight measurer overheard her comment and was displeased. 0

“It sounds like you think I tampered with this machine. If you don’t believe me, you can step on it yourself and see if it flatters you too.” 0

Yang Qianfan thought the old man had a point and urged Zhu Hui to give it a try as well. Reluctantly, she complied, wanting to know if she had grown taller recently. As she stood on the device, she secretly hoped it would measure her taller than before. However, to her surprise, the machine seemed to play favorites and announced, “Hello! Welcome! Your height is 15 centimeters, your weight is 70 kilograms. You are somewhat underweight; please improve your nutrition. Thank you! Goodbye!” 0

Zhu Hui was struck dumb by this revelation; it felt like a bolt from the blue. She pointed at the machine in shock and exclaimed repeatedly, “This is broken! This old machine must be faulty! I’m clearly 154 centimeters tall; how can it say I’m only 150…” 0

“Accept the reality! My machine never lies,” the height and weight measurer chimed in with glee as he exaggeratedly laughed at her misfortune. 0

Standing nearby, Yang Qianfan found Zhu Hui’s frustrated expression utterly amusing and couldn’t help but cover his mouth as he chuckled quietly. 0

“I refuse to accept this! I want to measure again! I can’t believe people grow taller while I get shorter!” 0

“There’s no helping it; this is a classic sign of aging prematurely. You might as well accept your fate of becoming an old lady early!” Yang Qianfan teased her further, laughing even more wickedly. 0

“Not a chance, my youth is mine to control.” Zhu Hui fumed, the veins on her forehead bulging as if they were blooming flowers. Unconvinced, she jumped back onto the height measuring machine for another attempt, but this time the result was even more disheartening—the machine indicated she was only 1.5 meters tall. Even though the machine had measured her even shorter, she refused to give up. She measured herself repeatedly, going up and down, back and forth, until the highest reading was just 1.505 meters. Just as she prepared to jump on again for another measurement, Yang Qianfan stopped her. 0

“Alright, stop measuring. 1.505 rounded off still counts as 1.54!” Yang Qianfan stifled a laugh. 0

“No way! I won’t rest until I hit 1.55!” Zhu Hui was fixated on the height measuring machine, her eyes wide open in determination, refusing to budge from in front of it. 0

“Stop it already! If you keep measuring, you might end up being shorter than 1.5!” Yang Qianfan urged, pulling her into the inner area of the Temple Fair. 0

Once inside, they watched fireworks for a while before moving on to admire lanterns, guess riddles, play marbles, and fish for goldfish. They fought valiantly through nearly three hours at the Temple Fair and finally managed to catch six goldfish. However, they were still far from the number needed to exchange for a pair of gloves, so they had no choice but to leave empty-handed after an unforgettable and enjoyable Valentine’s Day. 0

Yang Qianfan walked her home and lingered downstairs for a long time without wanting to leave. Zhu Hui noticed he wasn’t going anywhere and worried about being seen by her grandmother, so she hurriedly urged him to go. 0

“You need to leave! If my grandmother sees us together, she’ll definitely scold me.” 0

“Even if your grandmother scolds me to death, I’m not leaving,” Yang Qianfan declared firmly. 0

“What do you want?” Zhu Hui anxiously looked around, fearing that neighbors would see them sneaking around together. 0

“I don’t want anything; I’m just really upset that you didn’t give me anything for Valentine’s Day.” 0

“Oh! You’re bringing up those gloves again.” Zhu Hui groaned in frustration, covering her forehead in despair at his persistence. 0

“I don’t care! If you don’t make up for my loss today, I won’t leave.” 0

“We can talk about compensation tomorrow; right now I don’t have anything on me. How am I supposed to make it up to you?” 0

“Who says you have nothing?” Yang Qianfan stepped closer and draped an arm over her shoulder casually. “Isn’t your first kiss right here with you?” 0

“What? My first kiss?” Zhu Hui felt a wave of panic wash over her as he demanded it, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. “But this is right in front of my house! What if someone sees us?” 0

“It’s so late, who’s going to see?” Yang Qianfan replied dismissively. 0

“Can we do something else instead?” 0

“Sure!” 0

“Really?” Zhu Hui exclaimed, jumping up in excitement. 0

“Then take me to your house for a bit, let’s have some tea, and you can tell your grandmother that I’m your boyfriend,” Yang Qianfan said with a mischievous smile. 0

Zhu Hui was taken aback by his suggestion, feeling faint. “If that’s the case, I might as well let you have a bite.” 0

“Exactly, that’s what I think too.” 0

Faced with his relentless teasing, Zhu Hui found herself without any countermeasures. In the end, she unwittingly gave away her first kiss as a Valentine’s gift to him. 0
