“Ah! How could this happen? How could this happen? In the past, I dated so many girls just to completely forget you, to prevent myself from having any inappropriate thoughts about you. But I never expected that everything I did would end up hurting you.” Wang Yuhan felt as if the waters of the Yangtze River were about to flow backward upon hearing her words. He staggered back a step, unable to conceal his true feelings any longer. Without a second thought, he rushed in front of her and embraced her tightly, whispering softly, “If I had known that my actions would hurt your heart like this, I would rather die at your hands. I’m sorry, Lingfei. Please forgive me.”
“Forget it, just go. In the past, it was my fault for being blind; I deserved to be deceived by you.” Li Lingfei lowered her hands, heartbroken. Darkness clouded her vision, and the world around her began to spin. Instinctively, she took a step back to maintain her balance.
Seeing her so weak that she could barely stand, Wang Yuhan quickly helped her back onto the bed to rest.
“Wang Yuhan, make him leave! I really don’t want to see him,” Li Lingfei said weakly as she lay on the bed.
Wang Yuhan turned to look at Yang Qianfan, who was still kneeling on the ground. His gaze hardened as he walked up to him and raised his hand, delivering a sharp slap across Yang Qianfan’s face without mercy.
“Is an apology really enough? Lingfei not hitting you is because she has a soft heart; it doesn’t mean she has forgiven you. This slap is my way of standing in for her.”
“All I can do is apologize; as for anything else, even if you kill me now, I can’t do it,” Yang Qianfan said resolutely, keeping his head down.
“Leave! Get him out of here right now; I don’t want to see him again!” Li Lingfei cried out from the bed, her voice filled with anguish.
Seeing her so agitated, Wang Yuhan turned and shouted at Yang Qianfan again: “What are you still doing here? Get lost!”
Yang Qianfan stood up from the ground, glaring fiercely at Wang Yuhan as he warned him: “I’ve done everything you asked of me. If you dare harm her again, I won’t let you off easily.” With that, he stormed out in anger.
After Yang Qianfan left, the room remained silent for a considerable amount of time. Wang Yuhan stayed by her side, guarding her until she calmed down enough to speak.
“Wang Yuhan, why did you hit him just now?”
“Because he made you sad and upset. Anyone who makes you feel that way deserves to be punished.”
“Is that so?” Li Lingfei smiled at him with a hint of sorrow, attempting to get out of bed.
Seeing her trying to rise, Wang Yuhan grew anxious, fearing she wouldn’t be able to support herself. He hurried to help her, but unexpectedly, as soon as he got close, Li Lingfei slapped him hard across the face.
“Wang Yuhan, why do you always hurt my feelings? Don’t you know how much it hurts? It really hurts.” Li Lingfei looked at him with tear-filled eyes, her body trembling uncontrollably.
“I…” Wang Yuhan covered his stinging face, utterly bewildered.
“Answer me. Why did you date so many people in the past? Why?”
Wang Yuhan stared at her in confusion; her slap had come so suddenly that he was caught off guard.
“All of this is because of you. If you hadn’t dated so many people back then, I wouldn’t have agreed to date Yang Qianfan. Everything that has happened is your fault.”
“I… my fault?” Wang Yuhan pointed at himself, feeling utterly perplexed.
“Don’t you understand yet? The person I truly like is you. It’s always been you. But you keep hurting me over and over again by dating so many girls. Every time I see you with them, do you know how much it pains me? I didn’t just start thinking about ending my life now; it’s not because of Yang Qianfan either. Do you understand?” Li Lingfei cried harder as she spoke.
