During this time, the education committee frequently sent people to the school for inspections, leading to yet another suspension of classes. This allowed the high school seniors, who were supposed to be attending summer remedial classes, to enjoy their unexpected free time. 0

Li Lingfei heard from a friend that Wuhan Square was having a massive sale, and eager to take advantage of this rare opportunity, she rushed to Yang Qianfan's place early in the morning and dragged him out of bed, insisting that he accompany her to shop at Wuhan Square. 0

As soon as they arrived at Wuhan Square, they were taken aback by the overwhelming crowd at the entrance. They never expected so many people would show up for the sale; the doors were nearly bursting with shoppers. It was no surprise, really—who wouldn't want to spend less money for great deals? Li Lingfei took a deep breath at the entrance, her eyes gleaming with determination as she charged in first, with Yang Qianfan following closely behind as backup. They fought their way through the chaos at Wuhan Square until noon, but eventually, Yang Qianfan's stamina gave out. He begged Li Lingfei to stop, and only then did she relent, leaving the square with heavy bags in tow but still craving more shopping. 0

After being worn out by Li Lingfei for an entire morning, Yang Qianfan felt as if his bones might fall apart. If there had been a bed nearby, he would have collapsed onto it and never gotten up again. Just as they passed by a side entrance of Wuhan Square, they suddenly heard a melodious tune wafting through the air like a refreshing breeze. Li Lingfei stopped in her tracks, turned around, and listened intently, trying to locate the source of the music. Not far ahead, she spotted a crowd gathered around something lively. Curious, she tugged on Yang Qianfan's arm and insisted they go check it out. 0

"What's so interesting about a beggar playing the violin?" Yang Qianfan shrugged her off with a groan. 0

"If you don't want to see it, fine! I'll go by myself," Li Lingfei snapped back angrily and ran ahead to join the crowd. Seeing her upset made Yang Qianfan feel anxious and frustrated; he gritted his teeth and followed her despite his aching back. 0

As they squeezed into the throng of people, they were stunned to see that the violinist was none other than Zhu Hui. Behind her was a wall plastered with a help wanted sign detailing Liao Chengwei's battle with leukemia and the need for public assistance. Yang Qianfan felt a mix of emotions wash over him as he finally understood why Zhu Hui had become so tanned in such a short time. 0

"Zhu Hui! What are you doing here?" Li Lingfei exclaimed excitedly as she approached her. 0

Zhu Hui looked up in surprise upon seeing Li Lingfei and immediately stopped playing; the music vanished into the sweltering air. 0

"Li Lingfei! What brings you here today?" Zhu Hui's eyes widened in shock and delight. 0

"I... I'm not as noble as you; I just came here to shop today and didn't expect to run into you," Li Lingfei replied, her voice catching in her throat. 0

"Is that so? It seems like you're having quite a haul!" Zhu Hui smiled at the large bags Li Lingfei was carrying. 0

"You’re out here playing for Liao Chengwei’s life under this scorching sun while I’m just shopping without doing anything meaningful. I feel so ashamed compared to you," Li Lingfei said, lowering her head in embarrassment. 0

“Don’t be like this. I still remember the last donation event at school when you contributed eighty dollars. That’s not a small amount!” 0

“How can my little donation compare to your effort standing under the scorching sun to raise funds for him?” Li Lingfei exclaimed, pulling out her wallet from her handbag and tossing three hundred dollars into the donation box in front of Zhu Hui. 0

Zhu Hui was momentarily taken aback by her action, feeling deeply moved. She sincerely thanked her, saying, “Li Lingfei, thank you for your generosity. I’ll express my gratitude to Liao Chengwei on your behalf!” 0

“Three hundred dollars is considered generous?” Hearing this made Li Lingfei feel even more ashamed. She then pulled Yang Qianfan from the crowd and insisted he donate as well. 0

“Hey, what are you doing? Why should I donate money to that guy? Let him die!” Yang Qianfan stubbornly refused to hand over his wallet to Li Lingfei. 0

“Even if you have a grudge against him, you shouldn’t say such heartless things,” Li Lingfei scolded him angrily. 0

“Alright, stop scolding him,” Zhu Hui shot a cold glance at Yang Qianfan and pointed at the donation box. “The money in that box is from those with hearts and compassion. Someone like you, who’s heartless and soulless, doesn’t even qualify to contribute.” 0

“No way, don’t listen to his nonsense; he didn’t mean it,” Li Lingfei laughed as she defended Yang Qianfan, turning back to glare at him, signaling him to shut up. 0

Though Yang Qianfan was reluctant, he ultimately handed his wallet over to Li Lingfei. However, he didn’t expect her to be so generous with someone else’s money. Without a second thought, she tossed his entire wallet into the donation box without hesitation. 0

“Hey, that’s my thirteen thousand dollar wallet!” Yang Qianfan watched in shock as Li Lingfei generously donated it. He felt an overwhelming sense of loss—not just because of the two thousand dollars inside but because the wallet itself was a limited edition, making it quite valuable. 0

Worried he might change his mind, Zhu Hui quickly hugged the donation box and preemptively said, “Listen, once it’s in there, it’s gone forever. If you’re feeling regretful, I can give you a VIP card. Next time you want to donate, I’ll give you an 80% discount so you can contribute less.” 0

“Donating while getting a VIP card? Only you would think of something like that.” Yang Qianfan shot her a cold glare as he looked at his wallet in the donation box, feeling so pained he wished he could cry. 0

Li Lingfei saw Zhu Hui drenched in sweat and worried that she might faint, so he instructed Yang Qianfan to go across the street and buy two bottles of cold water. 0

"I don't have any money to buy water right now. You donated all my money, and you didn't even leave me my wallet," Yang Qianfan replied indignantly. 0

"Thanks! I'm not thirsty. Drinking the water you buy might just make me sick," Zhu Hui said coldly, rolling her eyes at him. 0

Seeing that Zhu Hui was still so arrogant despite his donation, Yang Qianfan felt a surge of anger rising within him. He stepped forward, ready to confront her. Li Lingfei noticed his agitation and, fearing he might cause trouble again, forcibly pulled him aside to keep him away from Zhu Hui. After greeting Zhu Hui, he hurriedly dragged Yang Qianfan away. 0

That wallet was indeed expensive. In the afternoon, Zhu Hui took it to a shop owner who specialized in bags. After examining the wallet, the owner offered her three thousand yuan to buy it from her. Zhu Hui held the money excitedly for a while, half-jokingly thinking to herself, "If that wealthy Male Goat comes back to donate again, I must give him a VIP card; after all, he's currently the biggest donor." 0

Later, Zhu Hui continued to play her instrument, but since the three-day promotional event at Wuhan Square had ended, the number of donors had significantly decreased compared to previous days. As the sun began its descent towards the pavilion near Zhongshan Park, its rays were no longer blinding, but the heat still lingered. Zhu Hui appeared somewhat overheated, her cheeks flushed. She looked up at the sun and suddenly felt dizzy; everything went dark for a moment as she unconsciously slumped. She stumbled backward, nearly falling to the ground. 0

"Hey, are you okay?" A strong arm wrapped around her waist, steadying her. 0

Zhu Hui covered her head and gently shook it to clear her mind. Instinctively turning around, she was surprised to find that it was Yang Qianfan who was supporting her. 0

"You... why are you here again?" Zhu Hui asked in astonishment upon seeing him. 0

"Why can't I come?" Yang Qianfan shot her a glance, his face reddening slightly as he coldly replied, "Don't think I'm here just to see you." 0

"Oh really? If you're here to donate money, you're always welcome." 0

"You really are greedy. I already donated over two thousand yuan and a wallet yesterday. Aren't you satisfied yet?" 0

Zhu Hui looked at him with a weary smile, but she didn't respond. Suddenly, she felt a wave of tightness in her chest, her breathing quickened, and she felt as if she were a house made of building blocks, swaying precariously in the wind. 0

Seeing her unsteady, Yang Qianfan nervously reached out to support her back, helping her to sit down beside a flowerbed not far away. "Hey, why are you working so hard for that guy? He might not even appreciate it. Do you think it's worth it?" 0

"I never expected him to appreciate anything I do. I'm only acting this way because I'm his class monitor." 0

"Class monitor?" Yang Qianfan couldn't help but scoff at her words, shaking his head. "To be honest, you're the most pathetic class monitor I've ever seen. Aside from the teachers, hardly anyone in your class takes you seriously." 0

Zhu Hui gave him a faint smile, unfazed by his words. She looked up at the clear blue sky and said plainly, "So what? My world isn't exciting just because I live in other people's eyes." 0

"Don't you care at all about putting in so much effort without receiving any recognition from others?" 0

"What’s there to care about? If I cared about others' 'recognition,' then I wouldn't be Zhu Hui." 0

Yang Qianfan smiled slightly at her and took out a pack of snacks from his bag, offering it to her. "You must be hungry after playing the piano for so long!" 0

"No... I'm not hungry at all. Thank you, but... I can't accept your food," Zhu Hui nervously declined. 0

"Why not?" 0

"Because... because I don't have any money to pay you," Zhu Hui mumbled, looking down. 0

Hearing this, Yang Qianfan felt a surge of anger that made him tremble involuntarily. He shouted, "Who said you had to pay? Just eat it or forget it!" 0

“Are you really this kind-hearted?” Zhu Hui looked at him with suspicion, unable to believe he could be so generous. 0

“Of course! My heart hasn’t been eaten by a dog. Do you want me to take it out and show it to you before you believe me?” Yang Qianfan replied sharply. 0

“Well, that’s not necessary, but I don’t want to eat anything right now; I just want some water!” 0

“You want water? Why didn’t you say so earlier? I’ll go buy some right now.” Yang Qianfan said, rushing into Wuhan Square to buy her a large bottle of ice water to quench her thirst. 0

Zhu Hui took the water from his hands and immediately started gulping it down without even thanking him. 0

Seeing her drink so eagerly, Yang Qianfan moved closer and sat down beside her, suddenly asking, “About my wallet yesterday…” 0

As soon as Zhu Hui heard him mention “wallet,” she was startled and sprayed the water in her mouth everywhere. She then began to cough violently, her dark face flushing a deep red. Nervously, she said, “Your wallet has already been donated. Don’t expect me to give it back to you.” She tossed the half-empty bottle of ice water into Yang Qianfan’s arms and added impatiently, “Give it back to you… give it back to you. I knew you suddenly being this nice must have a reason behind it. Luckily, I only drank a few sips of your water.” 0

“Hey, what do you mean by that? Do you think I brought up the wallet because I want it back from you? You really think too little of me!” 0
