Zhu Hui was forcibly brought to Liao Chengwei's hospital bed by Jiang Xin. Upon seeing Liao Chengwei lying there, she involuntarily shuddered. She had never expected that the once fierce and ruthless Liao Chengwei would now be reduced to such a pitiful state, tormented by illness. 0

“Liao... Liao Chengwei, how have you been lately? I... I wish you a speedy recovery!” Zhu Hui forced herself to smile at him, her heart racing as if she were walking on a tightrope, with an abyss waiting below that could swallow her whole at any moment. 0

Hearing Zhu Hui's voice, Liao Chengwei suddenly opened his eyes, his muscles tensing up uncontrollably. He lifted his head and, upon seeing Zhu Hui standing before him, he erupted in anger without a second thought: “Get out! Are you here to see if I’m dead or not? Let me tell you, even if you die, I won’t die! Get out! I don’t want to see you.” He coughed violently as he spoke. 0

His fierce roar pierced through her very bones, shattering her heart. The forced smile on her face evaporated instantly, replaced by an overwhelming sense of fear. She retreated to the doorway, feeling lost as she endured his barrage of insults. 0

Fortunately, Liao Chengwei's mother was there to restrain him, managing to calm him down somewhat. Seeing this scene unfold, Zhu Hui realized that attempting to reconcile with him was nothing more than a foolish dream—an impossible task. After exchanging a few words with Jiang Xin in private, she lowered her head and discreetly left. 0

Once outside the ward, she felt a weight lift off her shoulders. Regardless of the outcome of this visit, the end itself was a form of relief. However, her moment of respite was short-lived as Liao Mama caught up with her and pulled her back to square one. 0

“Auntie, is there something you need?” Zhu Hui turned around in confusion. 0

“I’m really sorry about earlier. Liao Chengwei is just being immature. I... I want to apologize on his behalf now and hope you can forgive him, alright?” Liao Mama looked at her with tear-filled eyes, sincerity written all over her face. Her voice trembled as if fearing rejection. 0

“It’s alright; it’s not entirely Liao Chengwei’s fault. I have my share of blame too; after all, it takes two to tango!” Zhu Hui forced a smile through gritted teeth. 0

“You’re such a good child for being so magnanimous,” Liao Mama said, nodding appreciatively at her. 0

After a moment of contemplation, Zhu Hui couldn’t help but ask, “Auntie, I believe Jiang Xin has already handed over the donations we raised for Liao Chengwei at school to you?” Although the question seemed somewhat redundant, it at least eased the awkwardness of their conversation. 0

"Yes, all this money was raised thanks to your efforts. As for you, I... I really don't know how to express my gratitude," Liao Mama said, unable to hold back her emotions, covering her face as she broke down in tears. 0

"Please don't say that. I've always felt guilty for not being able to raise more donations. But please believe me, after some time, I will definitely come up with better ways to gather more funds for Liao Chengwei," Zhu Hui said, looking at her with a gentle smile. "As the class monitor, it is my duty to save Liao Chengwei's life, so please do not give up on his treatment, okay?" 0

Hearing these words, Liao Mama's sobs grew louder, more intense than the sound of a bellows, her tears flowing like a raging river. 0

"Alright, please stop crying," Zhu Hui gently patted her shoulder. Seeing her tears made Zhu Hui feel sad as well. She comforted her, saying, "You are the greatest mother I have ever seen in this world... Let's fight side by side and work together to save Liao Chengwei's life, shall we?" She held Liao Mama's hands tightly, her eyes shining with confidence. 0

When Liao Mama saw the confidence on her face, it was like the dawn breaking through the darkness, filling her son's already dim life with hope. She wiped away her tears and choked out, "I won't cry anymore. For Liao Chengwei's sake, I must persevere." 0

Zhu Hui nodded at her, feeling deeply moved. "I truly envy Liao Chengwei for having such a wonderful mother like you." 0

"Silly child, what mother in this world would not care for their own child? I believe your mother is just as great, isn't she?" 0

"Yes... yes!" Zhu Hui replied, a chill running down her spine at those words. 0

Liao Mama accompanied her all the way to the hospital entrance before heading back home. As she walked along the road, images of Liao Chengwei's swollen and pale face and Liao Mama's tear-filled eyes flashed through her mind. For the first time, she felt how ordinary the birth of a life could be while its passing was so shocking. She began to formulate a plan in her heart—a plan to extend Liao Chengwei's life. 0
