After school in the afternoon, Zhu Hui stepped out with her backpack and was immediately stopped by Yang Qianfan, who had been waiting at the entrance.
"What do you want this time?" Zhu Hui instinctively took a step back upon seeing him, maintaining a safe distance.
"This isn't a good place to talk. Come with me," Yang Qianfan said, pulling Zhu Hui into a nearby deserted alley.
"What do you want to bring me here for? I have no money and no looks," Zhu Hui exclaimed, noticing the empty alley and fearing that Yang Qianfan had ulterior motives. She began to cry in fright.
"Why are you crying? Do you really think I would do anything to you?" Yang Qianfan was flustered by her tears, waving his arms in front of her, unsure how to calm her down and make her stop crying.
"Then let me go! I'm afraid of the dark," Zhu Hui sobbed between sniffles.
Upon hearing this, Yang Qianfan looked up at the clear blue sky and took a step closer to her. "It's broad daylight; what are you afraid of?"
"Don't come any closer! Grandma, help me! I'm so scared!" Zhu Hui cried even harder as he approached. In her panic, she stepped on a banana peel behind her, slipped, and fell to the ground.
"Okay... okay, I won't come any closer," Yang Qianfan quickly backed away to give her space.
Seeing him retreat, Zhu Hui finally believed that he meant her no harm. She got up from the ground, wiped her tears, and cautiously asked, "What do you really want?"
"It's still what I said this morning. Luo Minggang is not a good person. He's selling drugs outside; do you understand?"
"His family environment is not good; what's so strange about working outside to sell drugs?"
"You idiot, you don't understand anything. My 'drugs' refer to narcotics. Do you get it now?"
"I understand. Can I leave now?" Zhu Hui replied dismissively, pressing her body against the wall and cautiously moving her feet as if walking a tightrope. Taking advantage of his momentary distraction, she dashed toward the alley's exit.
"Hey! Don't run!" Yang Qianfan shouted, panicking as he chased after her without a second thought. Just as he reached the mouth of the alley, a piece of black cloth suddenly covered his head, and everything went dark; he lost all sense of awareness.
When he regained consciousness, he found himself locked in an abandoned warehouse, his hands and feet tightly bound with hemp ropes, rendering him completely immobile. Struggling slightly, he felt a sudden weight on his back. Turning his head in shock, he saw Zhu Hui; she was tied back-to-back with him but still unconscious.
"Zhu Hui, Zhu Hui, wake up," Yang Qianfan urged desperately, trying to shake her awake.
His call proved effective. Zhu Hui slowly opened her eyes, looking dazed. "Where are we?"
"I estimate we're not far from hell," Yang Qianfan replied, glancing around at their surroundings.
"Hell?" Zhu Hui suddenly snapped to attention upon realizing they were tied together. She gasped in alarm, "What is this place?"
"I want to know what this place is too, but I'm sure it's not a good one," Yang Qianfan said nonchalantly.
Just then, a man's sinister laughter echoed through the room. "Welcome, my friends!"
The voice came from the entrance, and they both turned to see four masked men in black clothing walking in from outside.
“What do you want with us?” Yang Qianfan asked impatiently, glaring at the masked men.
“I heard you have a very wealthy father, so I thought I’d borrow some money from him,” one of the masked men replied.
“Why do you need to kidnap me to borrow money from him? I only have a few hundred on me; if that’s enough for you, just take it!” Yang Qianfan shot them a cold look and said dismissively.
