On Monday, after the flag-raising ceremony, Yang Qianfan didn’t head straight back to class. Instead, he waited by the student council entrance, hoping to catch Zhu Hui as she came out. After a long wait, Zhu Hui finally emerged with Jiang Xi, both of them laughing. The moment Yang Qianfan saw her, he pulled her aside and said, “You shouldn’t work at KFC anymore.”
“Why not?” Zhu Hui shrugged off his hand, puzzled.
“Don’t ask why. Just promise me you won’t go back.”
“Why can’t I?”
“Because Luo Minggang isn’t a good person. Being around him will only bring you trouble.”
“That’s ridiculous. If Luo Minggang isn’t a good person, does that make you one?” Zhu Hui laughed dismissively, clearly unconvinced by his words.
“I’m not lying to you; he really isn’t a good person.”
Just as his words fell, Luo Minggang happened to walk out of the student council office. Spotting Zhu Hui, he called out, “Zhu Hui! What are you still doing here? Class is about to start!”
Yang Qianfan turned to see Luo Minggang and couldn’t help but smirk sarcastically. “I was just reminding her not to associate with losers.”
“Oh really? Thanks for the reminder. I definitely shouldn’t be around losers. Bye!” Zhu Hui said as she pushed him aside and walked past him toward Luo Minggang.
“Hey! Are you calling us losers?” Yang Qianfan shouted angrily as he grabbed her arm.
“Let her go! What do you think you’re doing?” Luo Minggang intervened, shoving Yang Qianfan away to protect Zhu Hui.
“Stop pretending to be the good guy here. Who do you think you are? Do you really think no one knows about your little issues?”
“What do you want?” Luo Minggang couldn't help but show a hint of unease in his eyes upon hearing this.
“Still playing dumb, huh?” Yang Qianfan nodded and smiled meaningfully at him. “Gangzi is a nice name! How did you come up with it?”
“Don’t go crazy here. I don’t know who your Gangzi is,” Luo Minggang said, straightening his back with a facade of righteousness, standing before Yang Qianfan like a priceless antique vase.
“Oh, really?” Yang Qianfan saw that he was still pretending and deliberately let out a few exaggerated cold laughs. He continued sharply, “With your acting skills right now, I suggest you apply to the Beijing Film Academy’s acting department next year for the college entrance exam. I believe once you graduate from there, you could become a worldwide superstar. That would definitely be more promising than selling that thing, wouldn’t it?”
“Yang Qianfan, what are you talking about? Are you out of your mind?” At this moment, Zhu Hui could no longer hold back and shouted at him. She turned to pull Luo Minggang away, angrily heading back to class.
