"You think you're unlucky? I'm the one who's unlucky! I got taken advantage of for nothing!" Zhu Hui blushed as she climbed out of his embrace.
"You crashed into me and you still have the nerve to complain!" Yang Qianfan exclaimed, jumping up from the ground in anger.
"If you hadn't been standing in front of me, would we have flipped over?" Zhu Hui shot him a glare and quickly ran to Tang Hui's side, lifting the bicycle that had fallen on him.
"Your logic is impressive! You could be a lawyer with those skills in twisting the truth."
"Yes! I could be a lawyer with my excellent logic, but I also know your physics is terrible. Of all things to be, you chose to be an obstacle in my way. Please, if you're going to die, do it far away. Don't be so desperate as to block the road and drag others down with you!" Zhu Hui retorted defiantly, rolling her eyes at him.
Seeing her unreasonable arguments only fueled Yang Qianfan's anger further. He raised his fist, ready to hit her. But Zhu Hui stood her ground, hands on her hips, tiptoeing and stretching her neck as if trying to look taller than him. Her eyes widened dramatically, staring at him fiercely as she advanced step by step. Yang Qianfan was taken aback by her intense gaze; he clutched his chest and stumbled backward. "What... what do you want?"
Seeing him back down, Zhu Hui smirked and shot him a challenging look. "You, Male Goat, trying to butt heads before your horns have even fully grown—who are you trying to scare?"
"What did you say? Don't think just because you're a girl I'll go easy on you!" Yang Qianfan pointed at her, trembling with rage.
"Fine! If you're brave enough, come at me, this fragile girl!" Zhu Hui took a step closer, narrowing her eyes into slits, her gaze sharp and provocative.
"You..." Yang Qianfan stammered as he pointed at her, furious but unable to act on it. He couldn't bring himself to hit her or lose face. Spotting Tang Hui sitting on the ground, he found an outlet for his frustration and kicked at Tang Hui and his broken bike, threatening him. "You little brat! How dare you crash into your grandpa? You must be tired of living! I warn you—if you dare step out of the school gates today, I'll make sure you regret it." After cursing him out, he shot Zhu Hui an angry glare before storming off.
"What kind of person is that! A true disgrace among scoundrels," Zhu Hui muttered angrily at his retreating figure.
Tang Hui got up from the ground, anxiously asking, "Hui, will he really hit me after school?"
Zhu Hui glanced back at him, her eyes shimmering with uncertainty. However, she bravely patted her chest and reassured him, "No, don’t be afraid. As long as I’m here, he wouldn’t dare to lay a finger on you."
Looking into her large, flickering eyes, Tang Hui sighed helplessly and lowered his head, falling silent.
After school that afternoon, Tang Hui found a bicycle repairman near the school. Once the bicycle was fixed, he rode home with Zhu Hui. They took a shortcut and had just passed Red Square when they unexpectedly ran into a group of delinquent youths in a narrow alley. Each of them wielded sticks and wore fierce expressions. Realizing that they were targeting him, Tang Hui quickly turned his bike around to escape. However, the delinquents reacted swiftly, lunging at him and dragging him off the bike before launching a brutal attack.
Zhu Hui stood by in shock, panicking and unsure of what to do. She wanted to rush in to save Tang Hui but was too short to squeeze through the crowd. All she could do was flail her arms and shout desperately from the sidelines.
