Yang Qianfan saw her heading towards the room to catch the thief and couldn’t help but panic. He quickly stepped in front of her, blocking her way and refusing to let her enter. 0

“What are you stopping me for? Why can’t I go in?” Zhu Hui asked, confused. 0

“B-because… I… I…” Yang Qianfan stammered, his forehead dripping with sweat, struggling to form a coherent sentence. 0

“Because what?” Zhu Hui pressed, even more puzzled by his anxious demeanor. 0

“Because I have something I want to say… to you.” 0

“What is it? Hurry up!” Zhu Hui urged him. 0

“I… I like you. Will you be my girlfriend?” The words tumbled out of Yang Qianfan’s mouth under her relentless questioning, a confession he hadn’t intended to make. 0

“You… you… what? You like me?” Zhu Hui’s eyes widened in shock as she pointed at herself, nearly fainting from disbelief. 0

“Yes… yes, I like you,” Yang Qianfan said, forcing a smile as if his muscles were cramping. 0

“Actually, I like you too,” Zhu Hui replied, her face flushed as she lowered her head shyly. “Ever since we met on the back playground last time, I’ve felt this strange affection for you. It’s hard to explain, like Cupid’s arrow shot straight into my heart, making my heart race and hard to forget. I think this feeling must be what people call love at first sight!” She suddenly lifted her head, her eyes sparkling with happiness as she confidently nodded at him. “I agree to be your girlfriend.” 0

As soon as her words fell, the room next door erupted into chaos. A group of boys and girls burst out like startled elephants, rushing towards her while cheering and showering her with colorful streamers. 0

“You guys… how are you here?” Zhu Hui exclaimed, caught off guard by the sudden attack of streamers. She instinctively covered her head and desperately tried to dodge their enthusiastic onslaught. 0

“We're just waiting to see you make a fool of yourself, you idiot.” Zhang Ming maliciously patted her shoulder and teased her dismissively. 0

“What? Make a fool of myself? You all…” Zhu Hui's eyes widened as she pointed at them, her mind completely blank. She felt as stiff as a stone, unable to move, as if she had jumped into a deep well and suddenly faced an overwhelming darkness. She was momentarily stunned, unsure of what to do. “Answer me, what is going on?” She suddenly snapped back to reality and mustered all her strength to ask Yang Qianfan. 0

“You... you... you saw it too. This is just a joke, a joke! You—surely you didn't take it seriously?” Yang Qianfan, feeling guilty, couldn't bring himself to look at her and pretended to be indifferent. 0

“Were those words you just said a joke?” Zhu Hui looked at him sadly, feeling as if her bones and heart had shattered together. She felt weak and almost unable to stand. 0

“Yes! It was a joke! You, the usually arrogant Dwarf Winter Melon at school, finally fell for it! Made a fool of yourself, huh? Ha—” Hu Yuanji couldn't help but burst into laughter at her predicament and mocked her further. “Have you even looked in the mirror? With your height of 1.54 meters, do you really think you could match up with someone who's 1.84 meters tall like a prince? To put it nicely, you're just overly confident; to put it bluntly, you're like a toad wanting to eat swan meat—completely unaware of your own limitations.” As he finished speaking, the people around them erupted into laughter again. 0
