Meanwhile, Jon Delson's granddaughter, Alice, was sulking in her room. Her parents had come to persuade her to listen to her grandfather, assuring her that he would not harm her. However, Alice refused to listen, pushing her parents out and locking the door. She had never been in a relationship and still held a longing for love but did not want to please a Hua Xia expert; even if he was skilled, she felt it had nothing to do with her.
But sitting idly was not her style. Suddenly, an idea struck Alice; she took out her phone and dialed a number. “Hello, Mary? Didn’t you say you would introduce me to a boyfriend last time? I’m ready,” Alice said.
“You finally came around! How about this: I’ll arrange for you two to meet tomorrow. The guy I’m introducing is tall and handsome, plus he’s skilled in martial arts—perfect for you!” Mary replied cheerfully on the other end of the line.
Alice’s Mary was actually known to Jiang Chen as Yan Xiaotian’s disciple; he had spared her during the Songnan Martial Arts Gathering.
“Alright, we’ll meet tomorrow,” Alice said before hanging up. A smile crept onto her lips after ending the call. If she started dating someone, her grandfather would surely stop trying to matchmake her with that Hua Xia expert. Alice felt a sense of pride in her cleverness.
The next day, Alice dressed up and headed out without anyone paying much attention. At an upscale café on Beverly Hills' commercial street, Mary was already waiting alongside a man and a woman.
The man was White Robert, a rising star in martial arts from the United States and also Mary’s senior at Hongmen. Besides Yan Xiaotian, there were other experts at Hongmen; White's master was Li Yunye, Hongmen's first elder. Li Yunye's strength surpassed even Yan Xiaotian's and he was regarded as Hongmen's top expert, though he rarely made public appearances. Even White found it difficult to see his master regularly.
