As for the others, Jiang Chen had not informed them.
On this day, the sea was calm and tranquil. Jiang Chen sat atop the island, a faint aura of Spiritual Energy enveloping him. He began to operate the Heavenly Transformation Great Dao Technique, entering a state of cultivation.
At that moment, in a mansion in the United States, it was the home of Jon Delson. He was not American; the Delson Family hailed from Europe. However, due to his special status, he had been pushed out to the United States years ago and had adopted American nationality. Yet, he did not abandon his original nationality, making him a dual citizen. Many countries recognized his status, allowing him to hold multiple nationalities.
Jon Delson's primary reason for returning to the United States was to help his master, Jiang Chen, search for artifacts. Additionally, there was another matter of great importance to him: he was entangled in the grudges of the Undying Dragon Clan. Over the years, he had been ostracized by members of the Delson Family, treated like a devil. Now that he had returned to normalcy, he needed to go back to the Delson Family to restore his identity and have his kin remove their prejudices.
In the vast mansion, Jon Delson's family had prepared dinner and was waiting. The rules of a large family were still quite strict. Although Jon Delson had been away from the Delson Family for many years, he still took pride in the blood that flowed through his veins and insisted that his descendants adhere to the family's traditions.
Jon Delson's lineage now spanned four generations. He had five sons; his wife had passed away years ago, and he had not remarried, feeling too old and unable to manage such matters at this stage in life. Besides his five sons, he also had six grandsons and four granddaughters, some of whom were already married with children.
Earlier, the elder suddenly called back to say he would return home today, shocking everyone in the family. It was known that the elder had long lived on an island, almost cut off from the world, and did not allow family members to visit him there. Everyone was aware of his frail condition; it was surprising that he decided to return today.
Though no reason was given for his return, the family quickly became busy. As the eldest son, Jon Delson's firstborn son, John Delson, hurriedly called all family members to ensure they returned before dinner. John feared that his father might be nearing death and wanted to see everyone one last time.
Upon hearing that their elder would return, everyone naturally set aside their work and studies and rushed back home. They shared John’s sentiments; they believed this unexpected return might be a final opportunity to see their grandfather.
In the hall, the atmosphere felt heavy and sorrowful as if they were attending a memorial service.
As dusk approached, Jon Delson finally arrived home. His car had just stopped at the villa entrance when his descendants rushed out to greet him. Their expressions were grave and filled with grief. Sitting in the car, Jon looked through the glass at this scene with confusion; after being away for so long, they should have been happy to see him return instead of looking so mournful.
As he stepped out of the car, a blonde-haired girl resembling a porcelain doll rushed forward and hugged him tightly.
"Grandpa, please don’t be unwell," she said anxiously.
This girl was Alice Delson, Jon's granddaughter who was about to graduate from college this year. She was exceptionally bright and knew how to win over her grandfather’s affection; thus, he doted on her greatly.
