The villagers were all too afraid to enter, not even the hunters would go near that place. My mother recklessly charged into Meilin, where she found my father's body and saw the horrific scene. She fainted in terror. Before losing consciousness, she glanced at me, and that look sent chills down my spine. 0

I trembled all over, my body seemingly losing control. I couldn't bear to look at my father's corpse; I feared it would frighten me to death. A few brave villagers quickly carried my father's body and my mother out of Meilin. Once outside, the villagers gathered around, staring at my father's remains and murmuring among themselves. 0

"How could Tang Mao die in Meilin?" 0
"Yes, how could this happen?" 0
"Could it be that Tang Mao harmed Yu Zhen? This is Yu Zhen's retribution." 0
"Or did he provoke something?" 0
"It's terrifying, absolutely terrifying." 0

Their words made me feel nauseous. I recalled Yu Zhen, and just the thought of that bloody scene made me want to vomit. Suddenly, I remembered what my mother had said—she claimed my father would die. Could she have done this? 0

I looked around, trying to find some clue on her face, but I saw nothing. When she woke up, she merely cried silently, her eyes filled with sorrow. The villagers carried my father's body back home. He had died a gruesome death, his entire body bound by a long vine, stretched out in a cruciform position. 0

Countless tiny vines crawled into his eyes, nose, mouth, and ears. His body was drenched in blood. I took a glance and didn’t want to look again. Just then, Aunt Li appeared. She laughed maniacally. 0

“Hahaha, retribution, retribution!” 0

“Tang Mao, you harmed my daughter; you deserve to go to hell!” 0

“I won’t spare you; I will make your whole family pay for my daughter’s death!” 0

“You people, you cold-hearted people, may you all die! May you all die!” 0

Since then, the villagers said that Aunt Li practiced dark arts. Her behavior became extreme and unpredictable. The villagers began to fear her, believing she had cursed the Tang family, wondering who would be the next to die. They started to worry, murmuring that with Tang Mao dead, who would be next? Because it was the entire village that caused Yu Zhen’s death. 0

I was terrified as well. I couldn’t sleep at all that night. In truth, I didn’t have much affection for my father; his death only filled me with fear. I was afraid that death would come for me next. Yet my mother acted as if nothing had happened after my father died. She started tending to her potted plants again. 0

When the Village Chief came to see my mother, she was watering her plants without even looking up. “What brings you here?” she asked him casually. 0

The Village Chief wanted to talk to her about Aunt Li, but my mother said it was none of her business. He said many kind words, yet my mother refused to listen. In the end, the Village Chief left in frustration. As he departed, he urged my mother to be careful, saying that Aunt Li was very dangerous now. My mother responded coolly and then ignored him. 0

After the Village Chief left, the women of the village found him. 0

"Village Chief, you need to do something about Aunt Li; she’s acting like a madwoman," one of them said. 0

"Yes, she curses everyone she sees; it’s terrifying," another added. 0

"Village Chief, please help us! If this continues, someone might get hurt," a third woman pleaded. 0

The Village Chief took a drag from his cigarette and pondered for a moment. "Just don’t make too much noise; after all, she is also a pitiful person." 0

"We understand," they replied. 0

"Then let’s go," he said. 0

The group marched towards Aunt Li's house. However, as soon as they entered, they were horrified by what they saw. 0

She was dead, and in a gruesome manner. Her death mirrored that of my father’s. Her body was bound by long vines in a cruciform position. Countless tiny vines had crawled into her eyes, nose, mouth, and ears. She was covered in blood. 0

The scene filled everyone with dread. Some began to vomit while others screamed. 0

Someone began to flee. 0

The Village Chief, upon hearing the news, rushed over immediately. 0

When he saw Aunt Li's corpse, his expression changed drastically, and his body trembled. "This is retribution, retribution indeed." 0
