Her limp limbs hung weakly, creating an eerily unsettling scene. Something taken from Yu Zhen's belly was writhing on the ground. That thing... was a child! Or rather, something resembling a child. It was a humanoid vine, the size of an infant, its body a wooden hue wrapped in some viscous slime, emanating a strange scent of decaying wood. 0

The creature struggled on the ground as if trying to escape. After a few writhing movements, it lay still. Was it dead? Yes, it was dead! 0

Everyone in the room pressed tightly against the walls, cold sweat pouring down their faces as they exchanged terrified glances. They felt relieved that the village had narrowly escaped disaster. 0

"Thank goodness, thank goodness! This Demon Fetus is dead; our village has avoided calamity," one woman said as she removed her hand from her chest. The fear on her face transformed into relief as she rushed forward to support my mother. "Sister, you are the savior of our entire village!" 0

Others began to react, moving forward to help my mother as well. "Sister, you truly are remarkable! How did you know Yu Zhen was carrying this thing?" 0

"Sister, you are incredible! Everyone in our village owes you their gratitude." 0

My mother forced herself to appear calm, smiling as she replied, "It's nothing. Didn't I tell you before that something was off? Thankfully, we dealt with it in time." 0

Leaning against the wall, her expression grew increasingly troubled. Beads of sweat dotted her forehead, and her face turned pale as a ghost. She walked unsteadily, murmuring softly, "Karma... karma... this is all divine retribution." 0

The Village Chief walked in from outside and asked, "Sister, what did you just say?" 0

My mother's face changed dramatically; panic washed over her. "Nothing, nothing," she stammered before staggering out of the room. 0

Aunt Li had been tied to the tree since morning, listening to the commotion inside. She sensed something was wrong and suddenly broke free from the ropes. 0

She rushed into the house like a madwoman and saw Yu Zhen's lifeless body. She collapsed in despair. 0

With a glare directed at us, she gritted her teeth and shouted, "It’s all your fault! You all killed my daughter! You are all murderers, murderers!" 0

Pointing at us, she cursed, "You killers! Oh, my poor daughter!" 0

"You are the ones who killed my daughter! You will face retribution!" 0

"All of you will suffer for this; none of you will die a good death!" 0

"Yu Zhen, my daughter, my precious daughter, how cruelly you died..." 0

"You were harmed by them; I will avenge you. I won’t let your death be in vain." 0

Aunt Li laid Yu Zhen down and glared at us with fierce intensity. Finally, she pointed at my mother. 0

"Starting with you, all of you will face retribution!" 0

From that moment on, my mother changed. 0

She locked herself in her room all day long, no longer the arrogant and domineering person she used to be. Now she seemed mystical and strange. 0

I didn’t understand why she had become this way. I wanted to ask her, but whenever I tried to speak, she would cover my mouth and silence me. 0

I was confused. 0

Why was Yu Zhen’s pregnancy considered a curse? Why was my mother so terrified? 0

I didn’t know what exactly frightened her. All I knew was that Yu Zhen’s pregnancy wasn’t due to some plant pot; it was because of my father. 0

My father was the village's old rogue, and many women had affairs with him. Yu Zhen was one of them. 0
