Several burly men tensed up at the sight of him crouched on the ground like a beast, quickly forming a protective stance around Boss Li.
"Don't worry, boss, I won't hurt you. I just want to spar with them," Lin Weixing declared, launching himself forward with lightning speed. He took down one of the men but chose not to kill him, instead executing a swift backflip to evade a flurry of punches aimed at him.
Lin Weixing leaped to the side and taunted lightly, "Come on."
The remaining six men roared and charged at him all at once. Lin Weixing targeted the luckiest one on the far right, grabbing his shoulders and spinning over his head before tossing him into two others. Just as he regained his footing, someone seized the opportunity and slammed him to the ground. The other two rushed in quickly, and together they pinned him down and began to beat him mercilessly.
Li Yue thought it was over and said, "Hey, enough! Don't kill him." To everyone's surprise, Lin Weixing slowly stood up amidst the rain of punches, letting out a furious roar. With a powerful sweep of his arms, he sent all three men flying to the ground.
Li Yue stared in disbelief at the seven men sprawled on the floor. These were all professional thugs he had gathered from across the country for their crimes, and this one man had taken them down in less than two minutes?!
Just how strong was Lin Weixing?
"So, boss? Are you satisfied?" Lin Weixing asked.
"Have you... made up your mind?" Li Yue replied incredulously, turning his gaze sideways.
"Yeah," Lin Weixing nodded.
"Hahaha, good! Very satisfied!"
"Your bodyguards have been beaten like this; aren't you a bit heartbroken?"
"I traded a few sesame seeds for a watermelon; why would I be heartbroken?"
Li Yue chuckled and pointed at the seven men who were just getting back on their feet. "You guys don't need to be bodyguards anymore; go find some work at my casino."
From that day on, Lin Weixing officially became Li Yue's only personal bodyguard and enforcer. With the protection of the gang, he no longer had to live in fear of being chased by the police or suffer from nightmares every night.
Now surrounded by endless feasts and beautiful women every day, his muscular physique attracted many admiring glances from the opposite sex.
As he followed Li Yue through the underworld, he gradually learned some of its unspoken rules, particularly about gambling and casino games. He had never been a good student growing up; instead, he excelled at playing cards.
He was well-versed in poker.
During college, Lin Weixing even took special classes on how to cheat at cards and had successfully employed those skills in numerous games without ever making a mistake.
As a week passed by, an unusual figure appeared at the casino that had previously seen little traffic.
What made this person remarkable?
From eight in the morning until noon, for a full four hours, he didn’t lose a single game!
Li Yue took one look and thought, "This is bad; he must be cheating." He called for the surveillance footage to be reviewed, but after watching for a long time, they couldn't find any tricks.
"Strange, I feel like this person is fraudulent!" Li Yue muttered unhappily.
If he wasn't cheating, then maybe it was just his luck; but if it turned out that he was cheating later on, wouldn't that tarnish the reputation of Petrus Casino in the black market? Even worse, it could spark a gang conflict.
Lin Weixing stood next to Boss Li, glanced at his frowning boss, then at the surveillance footage, and stepped forward to say, "Boss, trust me. Let me take a look."
Li Yue looked at him in surprise: "Can you do it?"
"Let's give it a try," Lin Weixing smiled. He walked over to the screen and started watching the four-hour footage again.
Lin Weixing focused intently on the cards in that person's hand. After watching for more than two hours, Li Yue felt it was futile and urged Lin Weixing to give up. When he saw that Lin Weixing was unfazed, he left the room, leaving a female server with him in case anything happened.
Lin Weixing remained motionless in front of the screen, while the female server had already fallen asleep on the table.
After an unknown amount of time, suddenly! Lin Weixing hit the pause button, rewound two minutes, and set it to five hundred times slower playback!
This time, he was even more focused. Lin Weixing sat in front of the screen like a statue.
"Phew!" Lin Weixing laughed confidently, "So that's how it is; I've caught you now."
The next afternoon, more people gathered around—not for anything else but to witness a visual feast brought by the gambling god. This gambling god was named Tang Yongli; he had a scruffy beard and wore sunglasses. Everyone surrounded his gambling table, waiting for him to collect money from yet another challenger.
"King!" shouted the opponent as he slammed his cards on the table.
Tang Yongli chuckled and habitually shuffled his cards. "Bam!" Four Jacks were laid down on the table.
The opponent's face gradually turned pale as he casually tossed a card onto the table. "Out of cards?" Tang Yongli mocked. "Little King!"
A Little King appeared before everyone’s eyes. The opponent threw down his cards, placed a thousand dollars on the table, and turned to leave.
"What’s this called? Luck! Did you see that?" Tang Yongli raised his hands to enjoy the cheers and applause from the audience. He signaled for the next challenger to take a seat. During the shuffling phase, Tang Yongli cautiously looked around to ensure no experts were watching his hands before starting to shuffle again.
"Stop!" A commanding voice came from behind Tang Yongli. He was startled and quickly gathered his cards, turning to face Lin Weixing who was glaring at him: "What’s wrong? Do you think there are more people who suspect I'm cheating? But do you have any evidence?"
Lin Weixing replied calmly: "Your hand speed is very fast; most people really can't see it. The move 'Swallow Turns' has been mastered by you."
"You flipped the second-to-last card in your hand to the top, preparing to win against your opponent in one move. If I'm not mistaken, what's currently at the bottom is a Little King, right?"
Tang Yongli's face instantly turned pale as an audience member quietly grabbed the deck from the table and revealed: "That's right; it's a Little King!"
As soon as these words were spoken, the entire casino erupted in chaos. Some people cursed Tang Yongli with foul language while others looked at Lin Weixing with admiration.
Tang Yongli could only lower his head in defeat. He had actually been observing here for quite some time and had never seen any experts before; he never expected this newcomer would be even more skilled than him.
Li Yue slowly stepped out, sneering as he said, "Since you admit it, you should know the rules here." Tang Yongli swallowed hard, stood up, and turned to run. Lin Weixing jumped onto the gambling table and landed, grabbing Tang Yongli by the left arm and twisting it gently.
"Ah—" Tang Yongli let out a scream as his arm broke.
"‘If you want to keep something secret, don’t do it yourself,’ remember that," Lin Weixing said, throwing him aside and walking away without looking back.
But Tang Yongli was a member of another gang's management; how could he tolerate such humiliation? That day, Li Yue was scrolling through his phone when he suddenly received a call. On the other end was Tang Yongli's voice, which said only one thing—"You all wait for me." Then he hung up.
"Hmph, what kind of trash thinks they can threaten my boss?" Lin Weixing said nonchalantly while flipping through TV channels beside him. "Don't worry, boss. With me around, no one can harm you."
"I certainly believe you," Li Yue replied, turning to look at his back. "But I'm afraid his target isn't me; it's you."
"That's even less likely."
Saying this, Lin Weixing picked up a small knife from the table and slashed it across his own arm. The wound healed quickly.
"Don't worry; they can't hurt me," Lin Weixing snapped his fingers and showed off to his boss.
In the evening, Li Yue brought Lin Weixing and a few others to a restaurant in a deep alley to have dinner with a black market dealer. The business deal went very well; they agreed on delivery within three days. As they walked out, Lin Weixing sensed something unusual first—he felt someone was watching them.
After walking for a while, Lin Weixing, who had already noticed the reflection, suddenly turned around and shielded Li Yue with his body!
"Ugh!"
Lin Weixing felt a sharp pain in his back that pierced straight to his heart. He had caught sight of a shadow resembling a person on the wall behind them. His vigilance allowed him to protect his boss just in time.
The others were not so lucky; as the rain of flying knives fell, they screamed and collapsed one after another, leaving only him and Li Yue standing in place!
Lin Weixing pulled out a flying knife and stood there as if nothing had happened, keeping his boss behind him while raising his fists and watching masked warriors jump down from both sides of the walls.
"Did that person throw the knife wrong? How come he's still alive?" Tang Yongli emerged from the alleyway, waving his hand. "That tall one—dismember him!"
