Every similar torment had to be endured, and I began to doubt my existence. What on earth had Liu Er learned in the Holy Demon Sect?
I figured that enduring pain was similar to developing a resistance to a drug. From initially wanting to bite my tongue off in despair, I eventually became numb to it.
Liu Er complained with some boredom, “Not shouting or screaming makes it feel like a mute show. It’s no fun anymore. Just take him away; it’s really dull.”
Seeing my miserable state, Xia Xing seemed to regard Liu Er with a bit more respect. “Should we deal with him now?”
Liu Er thought for a moment and replied, “Not for now. Mo Cang Brother values him, so let’s keep him for a few days. We can handle it when Mo Cang Brother arrives.”
Xia Xing asked, “Is the Holy Son coming too?”
Liu Er took a bite of an apple and said, “If he’s not coming, why am I even here? To smell Pig Smell?” Then she instructed her subordinates, “Make sure to give this guy some medicine; don’t let him die. Otherwise, Mo Cang Brother will be angry.”
The two strong men holding me nodded vigorously and dragged me out. I felt a wave of relief wash over me; I could finally look forward to a few more comfortable days.
People are truly strange; the lower you fall, the easier it is to feel satisfied. For instance, when you’re starving, receiving two big buns feels like a feast. When you’re freezing and suddenly step into a warm room, that sense of satisfaction is unmatched by anything else.
Just like now, after being tormented for days, suddenly being left alone and given medicine made me feel like good days were ahead. On the other hand, I wondered if my expectations were too low or if I lacked ambition.
Indeed, for the next few days, no one bothered me. I enjoyed the peace—eating and sleeping like a pig in a pen.
It seemed Liu Er's earlier words had intimidated my guards. Although they treated me coldly, they ensured I had plenty of food and drink while my wounds healed.
Suddenly, sounds of fighting erupted outside—women’s shouts and the clanging of weapons. Curiosity got the better of me as I leaned against the wall and hopped awkwardly toward the window like a zombie. Finally, I saw two figures standing on stone pillars beside the large iron gate: one was Mo Cang with a grim expression, and the other was a woman with her back to me. She had an impressive figure; I just couldn’t see her face.
“Now that you’re on my turf, let’s see where you think you can run,” Mo Cang said darkly as he faced the encircled woman.
The woman held a Long Whip and laughed defiantly. “You think you can take advantage of me and run away? Even if you flee to the ends of the earth, this won’t be over until I chop off your filthy hands.”
Wow, this was big news! Looking at Mo Cang’s austere demeanor, I never expected him to have such lewd tendencies deep down. I leaned further out; how could I miss such juicy gossip?
Liu Er pouted and asked, "Mo Cang Brother, is she for real?"
Mo Cang felt overwhelmed and, slightly irritated, shouted, "What are you waiting for? Get her!" With that, he charged forward with his sword drawn.
The woman wielded the Long Whip like a Jiao Long emerging from the sea, preventing anyone from getting close. Watching her technique, I couldn't shake the feeling that it seemed oddly familiar, as if I had seen it somewhere before.
However, outnumbered as she was, the woman took a punch to her shoulder and staggered back several steps. Mo Cang moved in to seize her, but Liu Er unexpectedly rushed forward and blocked Mo Cang's hand, fuming, "No one is allowed to touch her until we get this clear!"
Mo Cang felt embarrassed and snapped, "Liu Er, can you not make a scene? I'll explain everything later."
To his surprise, Liu Er plopped down on the ground and began to wail. Her cries were filled with accusations: "Mo Cang, you heartless man! Here I am, a beautiful woman willing to marry you, and you’re out here cheating! Not only that, but you even brought your mistress to confront me!"
Mo Cang was so furious he could hardly contain himself. He shouted at his subordinates watching the spectacle, "Get back inside!" They left with their heads hung low and utterly confused.
Xia Xing wanted to offer some words of comfort but caught Mo Cang's icy glare and retreated into the courtyard. The iron gate remained ajar—whether Xia Xing did that intentionally or not was unclear.
"Little sister, have you really grown up enough to get married?" The woman asked in surprise while handing Liu Er a tissue.
Liu Er wiped her tears with the tissue but shot back defiantly, "What’s it to you?"
The tense atmosphere from moments before dissipated instantly. Liu Er glanced at the woman and then at herself. "It seems all men are the same; they all prefer someone older."
She puffed out her chest and glared at the woman. "So what’s your relationship with him?"
"Pfft!" The woman spat dismissively. "Just look at her deadpan face; I wouldn't want her even if she were offered to me! Sister, you're still young—don’t let yourself be fooled by someone like that. If you trust me, I can introduce you to someone better—someone sunny? Tall? Brave? Whatever type you want!"
Liu Er seemed intrigued. "I like Monk Types; do you know any?"
The woman paused for a moment before brushing off the dust from her clothes and standing up. "I didn’t expect you to have such unique tastes at your age! But I do know one Monk Type; I think I met him in a cave. He even has a monkey! That monkey is quite clever, but he absolutely refuses to sell..."
Upon hearing this, I couldn't help but chuckle. It seemed we were bound to meet again. But then it struck me—Jian Jie’s previous abilities were only slightly stronger than mine; there was no way he could hold his own against Mo Cang like this. This sudden mastery of skills couldn’t have developed so quickly.
Mo Cang looked grimly at the two women who were chatting animatedly. "Miss, I merely bumped into you by accident. Why must you be so relentless? I've already apologized."
Jian Jie snorted coldly, "If I didn't have some skills, would you have apologized so readily? Besides, you touched me inappropriately; do you think a simple apology is enough?"
Liu Er chimed in with a teasing question, "Where exactly did he touch you?"
Jian Jie gritted her teeth and replied, "You can ask your man about that; I wouldn't want to embarrass myself." Liu Er then turned her gaze back to Mo Cang, who had decided not to respond and was heading into the courtyard.
Jian Jie continued, "Look at his attitude! If I don't get justice today, I'm not leaving!"
Liu Er laughed, "Should I prepare a room for you then?"
Jian Jie said, "No need. I'll just sleep in the same room as you tonight. He touched me, and I slept with his wife; that makes it even."
