"Ghost Wall" is merely a trick that affects the visual system, making one feel as if they are going in circles. It's just a minor technique, I said calmly, "It's just 'Ghost Wall.' It's not like I'm asking you to sleep with a ghost. Look at how nervous you've become!"
Solemn let out a sigh of relief and retorted, "You're speaking from a place of comfort. I'm just an ordinary police officer, not part of the Special Investigation Bureau. If it weren't for you, I would never have encountered something like this in my entire life!"
I walked directly to the corner, unbuckled my belt, and relieved myself towards the northeastern corner.
Solemn covered his nose and exclaimed, "Ling Feng, what are you doing? Are you really that scared that you need to pee?"
I chuckled without answering. After finishing, I waved at Solemn and said, "Come on, let's go!"
This time, things went much smoother, but after walking for a while, we still hadn't reached the first floor. Solemn couldn't help but complain, "You've been holding in your pee for twenty years, and this is all it amounts to?"
At that moment, we were on the third floor!
I couldn't help but heighten my vigilance; such a situation shouldn't occur! So I wiped some blood from my middle finger onto my eyes.
When I looked again, there was a thin layer of mist floating inside the building.
It seemed that Yuan Hun's psychic power was quite strong. A smile crept onto my lips; it had been a long time since I encountered such an interesting opponent.
I first lit some Rhinoceros Horn Incense in the corner. No matter how strong your psychic power is, this stuff has a fatal attraction for Gui Wu, just like how dogs can't resist eating feces.
As the incense burned, I set up a formation around me—the Big Dipper Seven Stars Formation. I used prayer beads as the formation stones and affixed talismans to each bead for enhancement.
After completing all of this, I took Solemn and hid to the side, using talismans to cover our yang energy.
Curiously, Solemn whispered, "Ling Feng, what are you doing?"
I replied, "Luring the snake out of its hole!"
Then I raised my index finger to my lips, signaling him to be quiet.
The surroundings were enveloped in darkness, so silent that not even a whisper could be heard. Suddenly, a cold breeze swept through. I couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement; the fish had taken the bait!
It was also the perfect opportunity for me to see what kind of creature had claimed two vibrant lives.
The mist parted, revealing a woman in a kimono gliding towards us. Her eyes were devoid of whites, appearing entirely black. Her body moved like a marionette, stiff and unnatural.
"Bold demon!" I shouted as I swung my Peach Wood Sword at her. Fine arcs of electricity crackled along the blade. The female ghost seemed to sense the danger; she waved her wide sleeves and retreated.
I formed a hand seal and commanded, "Rise!"
The Qixing Beidou Formation enveloped the ghost like an inverted bowl, trapping her inside.
She struggled relentlessly, but the seemingly thin layer of the transparent barrier was impenetrable.
"Are you from the Nationals?" I demanded. The ghost's figure became slightly more transparent as she collided with the barrier, fear etched across her face.
Upon hearing my question, she paused for a moment before stepping back respectfully and bowing to me. "I am Matsushima Naoko. Please take care of me!"
Her voice was gentle, though her Mandarin was quite poor, each word carefully enunciated.
“Since it’s the jNationals, what’s the point of lingering in Our Country after death? Just based on the lives you hold in your hands, I could make your soul scatter to the winds right now.” Because of that history, I held no affection for the jNationals. I believed anyone with a sense of justice felt the same. Thus, my tone was a bit harsher.
Matsushima Naoko wiped her eyes with her sleeve. “I want to go back too, to see the cherry blossoms in front of my home and listen to the songs of my hometown. But for some reason, I’ve been trapped here for so many years and can’t escape this building.”
I couldn’t stand to see a woman cry. Although a female ghost wouldn’t shed tears, the sorrowful expression on her face seemed genuine. I questioned her sternly, “Even if you’re trapped here, that doesn’t justify taking innocent lives. Or is it that the jNationals can’t change their bloodthirsty nature, whether alive or dead?”
Matsushima Naoko’s expression shifted slightly. “No, no! I’ve never harmed anyone. That year I came to this country with my brother; I just didn’t expect that after the war ended, I would never be able to return.”
Solemn looked at me in confusion as I spoke to the air and nudged me with his elbow. “Who are you talking to?”
I smiled and replied, “A J Country girl, quite stunning. Even more so than those on the discs!”
Solemn eyed me suspiciously. “Ling Feng, do you have any way to let me see ghosts too? I want to experience it.”
Unable to shake him off, I applied Niu Yan Lei on his eyelids.
“You’ve never harmed anyone? What about those two classmates who died tragically outside? Did they just decide they’d had enough of life? Committed suicide?” I pressed.
Matsushima Naoko kept bowing apologetically. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry. That night, eight of them came here to play games. Out of curiosity, I stayed nearby to watch them play. But then…”
Solemn urged anxiously, “But then what?”
A look of terror crossed Matsushima Naoko’s face. “But I don’t know what method they used; they really summoned something terrifying. I could only feel its presence from afar and was so scared that I hid.”
I frowned. “What kind of thing could frighten even you?”
Matsushima Naoko shook her head and said, "I don't know either. It seems to have been summoned from underground. Anyway, it's really frightening!"
Solemn replied, "So what you mean is that the deaths outside have nothing to do with you!"
"Then why did you keep apologizing just now?" I asked.
Matsushima Naoko said, "I caused inconvenience to others, so of course I should apologize."
She bowed again and added, "Please forgive me! I'm sorry for causing you trouble!"
I glanced at Solemn and noticed he was staring at Matsushima Naoko's ample curves. I cleared my throat and said, "Stop looking. Even if you stare, you can't touch; she's a ghost!"
Solemn scoffed, "As if looking at a DVD means you can touch it!"
I nearly lost my composure and spat out blood in disbelief. What kind of logic is that?
I turned serious and asked, "Honestly, how credible do you think her words are? Does that so-called terrifying thing really exist?"
Solemn looked me up and down and replied, "How would I know? Isn't that your area of expertise? Why don't you take a closer look and see if you can find that thing?"
I ignored Solemn and turned back to Matsushima Naoko, asking, "When does that thing usually come out?"
Matsushima Naoko replied, "Probably after midnight!"
"Why did it let you go?" I asked again.
“Matsushima Naoko replied, ‘I don’t know. But I feel a familiar aura about him!’”
“Really? It seems likely that he could be someone you know?” I continued to ask.
Matsushima Naoko covered her head and said, “I can’t remember. I don’t know anything…”
Seeing her in pain, I decided not to press further. Whatever the situation was, it was better to wait and see.
After all, there was no one around. “Matsushima Naoko, for the next few days, you’ll have to stay within the formation while I uncover the truth. I will ensure your innocence is restored.”
I then found a hidden corner to set up the Xuan Guang Jing Shu. This way, I could clearly observe everything happening here!
