Solemn displayed his professionalism by clearing a large area around the deceased, instructing everyone to step back and not approach. 0

He then made a call to notify the bureau to send someone over. Just then, a plump old man wearing gold-rimmed glasses approached. The students respectfully greeted him, calling out "Principal Gong." 0

Principal Gong tugged at Solemn's sleeve and led him to a relatively secluded spot. He offered Solemn a cigarette, which Solemn examined and found to be quite good quality. 0

"Officer," Principal Gong said, "with these incidents happening one after another at our school, I, as the principal, can't escape responsibility. However, I must trouble you to help keep this under wraps for the time being. We'll handle the parents ourselves!" 0

Solemn looked incredulously at the plump Principal Gong. "Your first thought after this incident is to cover it up?" 0

With a sigh, Principal Gong replied, "You know our school's century-old reputation cannot be tarnished on my watch. If this news gets out..." 0

Solemn swung a fist toward Principal Gong, startling him so much that he instinctively shrank his neck back, making his already short neck appear nonexistent as if his head was directly resting on his shoulders—a rather comical sight. Solemn had no intention of hitting him; his punch landed against the wall behind Principal Gong. 0

Ignoring him afterward, Solemn returned to maintain order while waiting for personnel from the bureau to arrive and collect evidence. 0

I quietly asked some classmates nearby to help keep watch while I approached Solemn. After saying something to him, I stepped back and looked at the body lying face down on the ground. Dark red blood mixed with bits of internal organs pooled around it, and the body lay in an eerie position. 0

I smeared some blood on my eyes but still saw nothing. The soul was gone! 0

Before long, both the police and emergency services arrived with surprising speed. Of course, this was followed by a swarm of media rushing into the school with cameras in hand. 0

Principal Gong proved to be quite adept at managing the situation; he instructed security guards and teachers to block the main entrance, preventing the media from entering. 0

I followed the personnel from the Forensic Science Division upstairs. The deceased had jumped from the rooftop. Whether it was suicide or something more sinister would need further investigation to uncover! 0

The people from the Forensic Science Division were meticulous. As we reached the top floor, the dusty staircase revealed only a single pair of footprints. Nothing else. 0

The large iron door, which had been tightly locked, now hung ajar, its rusted surface marred by what appeared to be a forcibly twisted handle, creaking back and forth like a decaying corpse swaying in the wind. 0

The footprints were dense and hurried, abruptly stopping at the half-height railing at the edge of the building. 0

I could almost imagine how the deceased must have leaped from the building, only to plummet rapidly under the force of gravity! 0

Once again, there were no useful clues. Yet, in such a short time, two people had already died. The school authorities and police had no choice but to take this matter seriously. 0

Solemn gathered the remaining individuals in the police station, including Fei Fei. 0

Aside from the deceased Mi Qiao and Xiao Hong, Fei Fei, Jing Jing, and Shan Shan huddled closely together, their hands tightly clasped. The three boys remained apart; Ji Bai sat at a table with an indifferent expression that showed no sign of fear. Another boy with acne scars, named Huang Zibin, appeared anxious as he fidgeted and paced back and forth. 0

Then there was Wang Chenggong, whose hair was dyed bright red and whose long bangs obscured half his face. He wore a nonchalant expression while chewing gum. 0

Standing on the other side of the glass with Solemn, I carefully observed everyone’s subtle movements inside. 0

“Zhuang Sir, what do you think?” I gestured toward them with my chin. 0

Solemn raised an eyebrow. “Are you testing my professional skills? I may not have your finesse, but don’t forget this is my forte.” 0

He then began his analysis: “The reactions of the three girls are quite normal; they’re typical responses for women in distress. Ji Bai—whom we’ve encountered before—seems unnaturally calm. Huang Zibin is clearly anxious; that’s why he can’t stop moving. As for Wang Chenggong, he acts like a carefree slacker. Although he appears indifferent, his tense muscles reveal that he’s afraid of something.” 0

I applauded his insights; Solemn’s analysis indeed held some merit. However, it seemed to offer little assistance in solving the case. 0

A little while later, a lawyer arrived, here for Ji Bai. Ji Bai had committed no crime, and his statement had already been recorded. Solemn didn’t insist on keeping him any longer, so he opened the door and said, “Ji Bai, you can leave now!” 0

Ji Bai stood up and straightened his clothes. “Chenggong, are you coming out?” 0

Wang Chenggong was taken aback for a moment, then exaggeratedly shouted, “I don’t believe it! If you have the guts, come find me!” 0

With that, he followed Ji Bai out. Ji Bai then looked at Tao Shanshan, who hesitated for a moment. She glanced at the two of them quietly before finally pulling her hand away and following them out. 0

Wang Chenggong shot a disdainful glance at Huang Zibin, as if to say, “Are you even a man?” 0

Huang Zibin pretended not to see and kept his head down, pacing back and forth. 0

For those who wanted to leave, there was nothing we could do. As I pushed the door open to go in, Fei Fei looked at me with red eyes and asked, “ Ling Feng, am I going to die?” 0

I patted her head and smiled. “With you here, what’s there to be afraid of? Just stay here. As long as you’re safe with us, I’ll make sure nothing happens to you!” 0

After reassuring Fei Fei and the others, Solemn and I followed Ji Bai out. Although they didn’t understand the gravity of the situation, we did! 0

So we couldn’t just stand by; we had to follow them from a distance as a way of doing our part! 0

Once outside the police station, Ji Bai hailed a taxi and headed straight for a hotel. Coming from a well-off family, Ji Bai chose a nice hotel. The three of them booked a presidential suite. 0

It was my first time in a five-star hotel; it was indeed incomparable to the cheap inns that cost only dozens of yuan per night. It was luxurious beyond belief. 0

We requested a room across from the presidential suite. Although Solemn had the privilege due to his position, he was too principled and ended up paying for the room himself. The price made my heart ache just looking at it. 0

Just past midnight, I heard frantic shouting coming from the apartment across the hall. Before I could process it, the door burst open, and two figures rushed out—Ji Bai and Tao Shanshan. 0

Upon seeing us, Tao Shanshan, who was too terrified to speak, pointed frantically back into the apartment. 0

I dashed inside while Solemn stayed outside to calm down the two of them. 0

As I entered, I immediately felt a heavy presence of negative energy. I sprinted toward the bathroom, where the energy felt strongest. 0

Pushing open the bathroom door, I was met with a flood of water spilling out. The room was filled with steam, and the sound of running water echoed loudly. Through the haze, I caught sight of a figure lying in the bathtub—Wang Chenggong, with his unconventional hairstyle, was sprawled naked in the water. 0

Whether he was unconscious or simply sensing danger, he had already succumbed to the overwhelming energy. 0

I quickly pulled Wang Chenggong out and began performing emergency CPR! 0
