The area illuminated by the lights was drenched in thick, dark red blood. Within the blood lay pale severed limbs, resembling sections of lotus root, twitching slightly. The severed hands curled into claw-like shapes, while the feet were almost stretched into a straight line. 0

A child, cut in half at the waist, crawled through the blood, dragging a mass of entrails behind. Tears glistened in one of its dark eyes, and its mouth was slightly open as if it were crying out for help. 0

Another child’s body was grotesquely bent backward, with ribs protruding outwards. Its head twisted as it emerged from between its legs, two hollow sockets where its eyes should have been, with trails of blood running down its face. It seemed to have lost its sight and was moving slowly around the room. 0

Yet another child had all four limbs severed, writhing like a fish out of water, desperately trying to flip over but unable to do so. 0

I felt a surge of heat in my head, consumed by thoughts of killing those beasts. As I gasped for breath and prepared to rush in, the Shari hanging on my chest suddenly emitted a chilling sensation. 0

I focused my gaze and saw that the horrific scene had vanished; instead, Ruo Yu and Ji Kun were engaged in combat. Solemn was entangled with Qiu Yang and Lu Yuan. 0

I realized this was nothing but our own people fighting each other. I rushed forward to break it up, but these individuals possessed surprising strength and easily tossed me aside, like a bull gone mad, determined to take each other down. 0

Seeing that brute force wouldn’t work, I grasped Shari and began reciting the Heart Sutra. 0

A tremendous Vedic Sound resonated through the air, gradually slowing the movements of Ruo Yu and the others. After about ten minutes, they finally regained their senses. They looked around in confusion, realizing everything had changed before rubbing their sore spots and retreating behind me. 0

I called out to Lu Yuan, “Can you break this formation?” 0

Lu Yuan observed carefully before replying, “Qian Mian Huan Jing. It seems the Black Magic Cult has really invested heavily to deal with us!” 0

I asked incredulously, “What’s the point of giving us a lecture now? Just tell me if there’s a way to break it!” 0

With a flushed face, Lu Yuan nodded. “It can be broken, but it’s quite troublesome.” 0

Realizing there was no time to waste, I pressed on, “Can we at least open a passage so we’re not affected by this illusion?” 0

Lu Yuan patted his chest and said, "No problem! However, I need to maintain the formation, so I won't be able to help you all from here on." 0

Ruo Yu chuckled, "That four-eyed guy, looking at those skinny arms and legs of yours, you can't be of much help anyway!" 0

Lu Yuan scratched his head and sat down cross-legged, summoning the Octagonal Compass. Under his control, the compass forcefully opened a passage. 0

"Just follow the guiding light I provide, and you'll be fine!" 0

I turned to Qiu Yang, who had followed us, and said, "Qiu Yang, I'm assigning you an incredibly challenging task." 0

Qiu Yang immediately stood up straight and replied, "Please give your orders!" 0

"Lu Yuan needs to maintain the formation without being disturbed. I hope you can protect him. Protecting him means protecting all of us! Do you have confidence?" I said loudly. 0

Qiu Yang glanced at Lu Yuan, who had his eyes tightly shut. "I guarantee I will complete the task!" 0

After arranging for Qiu Yang, the rest of us moved deeper inside, exploring each area. 0

The first floor was a massive hall. After checking it and finding nothing unusual, we proceeded up the stairs to the second floor. 0

As we reached the corner of the staircase, hidden weapons whizzed past us. 0

Fortunately, among us remaining few, aside from Solemn who was slightly weaker, the others managed to handle it with ease. 0

I gestured to Ji Kun. Although Ji Kun had a bit of an arrogant demeanor, he was capable. He charged forward and dropped to the ground, firing wildly upwards. Ruo Yu and I took this opportunity to sprint up to the second floor as quickly as possible. 0

The second floor featured a long corridor lined with numerous rooms. Upon arriving, I noticed no signs of life. I turned back and signaled Ji Kun to come up. 0

Suddenly, a cold wind swept through, and I felt a powerful force knock me over. Realizing something was wrong, I cursed under my breath—there were indeed malevolent spirits present. I bit my middle finger and smeared blood on my eyelids before quickly doing the same for the others, except for Ji Kun; he hadn’t been knocked down by the strange wind and clearly had his own methods. 0

As I opened my eyes, everything became clear. Dark clouds of smoke swirled in the air, each one filled with the faces of struggling children, their expressions twisted and terrifying. 0

Like a cat sensing the smell of fish, the living's vital energy held a deadly allure for them. 0

Without exchanging words, Ji Kun and I positioned Ruo Yu and Solemn behind us for protection. 0

Ji Kun brandished his sword and said, "Shall we compare?" 0

I drew my Peach Wood Sword, raising an eyebrow. "Let’s compete then; who’s afraid of you, grandson!" 0

Once competition was introduced, friendship took a backseat. All that talk about friendship first and competition second was nonsense. If we were going to compete, what was the point if we didn’t win? 0

Both Ji Kun and I were invigorated as if we had been pumped full of adrenaline. As we swung our swords, the black mist melted away like snow under the sun. 0

In just ten minutes, it was completely cleared. 0

Just as we finished, applause echoed from the end of the corridor. 0

Clap, clap, clap... 0

The sound reverberated heavily. Approaching us was an old man with a smooth face devoid of wrinkles. Although he appeared old, his steady gait lacked the unsteady demeanor typical of elderly people. His skin was as tender and rosy as that of a newborn baby. Yet his voice carried a weight of experience, "To have found this place is quite an achievement for you!" 0

He then turned to the person behind him and reprimanded, "Dai Shu, your performance has been lacking!" 0

The chastised Dai Shu was the Slim Tall Man I had seen in the ancestral hall. He knelt down in fear and pleaded, "It’s all my fault for being incompetent; I’ve caused you worry, Uncle!" 0

The old man gestured for him to rise. However, as I observed the way he raised his elegantly curved fingers, a chill ran down my spine, leaving me covered in goosebumps. 0

Ji Kun's expression turned serious as he asked, "You’re still alive?" 0

I curiously asked, "Who is he?" 0

"Over twenty years ago, he was a notorious figure in the martial world, a ruthless villain known as the Dark Lord. He is called Wuxin the Eunuch, Dai Zhuli!" Ji Kun explained while pulling a signal flare from his pocket. 0

The old man chuckled, "I didn't expect there would still be someone who knows my name among the younger generation. Are you from the Special Investigation Bureau?" 0

Ji Kun cupped his hands and replied, "I had the fortune of seeing your photo in the archives of the Special Investigation Bureau, so I remember!" 0

Dai Zhuli smiled and said, "It's been so long since I've roamed the martial world; I was afraid no one would remember me anymore!" 0

I whispered again, "Why do they call him Wuxin the Eunuch? Is he really a eunuch?" 0

Ji Kun nodded, "You guessed right. He really is a eunuch. It is said that he was once deeply hurt by a man and, in a fit of rage, killed over ten members of that man's family and tortured him to death!" 0

I couldn't help but shiver at such a dramatic backstory. 0
