I was dealing with the Xia Xing siblings while also having to worry about the Old Man.
In a moment of distraction, I got hit again. The pain made me gasp for breath.
The Old Man, who usually seemed so unseemly, could he really be that way?
Yao Ji stealthily moved to a spot a little farther from the Old Man, still wary in her heart.
Seeing this, the Old Man dropped his pretense. With a wave of his hands, countless tiny insect eggs flew out. Yao Ji was alert and swiftly retreated.
With a flick of her wrists, numerous fine poison needles shot toward the Old Man.
Experience proved its worth; the Old Man rolled on the ground, and all the poison needles were pinned into the grass.
However, when the Old Man struck, how could Yao Ji, as a junior, evade him? No matter how quick her reflexes or how cautious she was, she couldn't escape the Old Man's schemes.
It turned out that when the Old Man came ashore, he had already scattered insect eggs around. What had just happened was merely a feint.
The Old Man chuckled, "This old man is one who cherishes beauty. I wouldn't want my precious ones to turn a stunning beauty like you into a beehive. If you're smart, just stay put and don't move; otherwise, don't blame me!"
Yao Ji was undeterred. But after taking just a few steps, she couldn't bear the pain any longer and curled up on the ground.
The Old Man remarked, "Not listening to your elders has brought you trouble. See? You're just asking for it!"
He then stepped over Yao Ji and walked toward the Azure Bat King.
At that moment, the Azure Bat King looked pale, clutching his abdomen with one hand. He must have been injured internally from being struck by the giant python's tail earlier.
I saw the situation and shouted, "The Azure Bat King has been brought to justice; you all should surrender!"
My shout startled the Xia Xing siblings, causing them to reveal openings in their defense.
With a sweep of the Ruyi Stick, I struck at the waist of the Xia Xing siblings.
Before they could react, I launched another fierce assault.
Caught between watching the Azure Bat King and dealing with me, the Xia Xing siblings found themselves hit several times.
Just as An Old Man approached the Azure Bat King and I thought victory was within reach, the massive corpse of the giant python floating on the water suddenly moved. With lightning speed, its tail whipped around and ensnared both the Poison Scorpion Master and Wu Lao tightly.
The enormous body coiled into a ball, continuously tightening its grip.
Seeing no way out, the Poison Scorpion Master frantically threw hidden weapons at the giant snake. However, the deadly poison on those weapons seemed to have no effect on it whatsoever.
Wu Lao, worn out from prolonged battles and burdened by age, found his stamina and energy lacking compared to his younger days. Although he was skilled at using formations to defend against and counter enemies, in this contest of strength, he was bound to suffer losses.
An Old Man's expression changed dramatically; disregarding the Azure Bat King, he charged directly at the giant snake. Yet it seemed that his poison tactics were also ineffective against it.
At this moment, the difference became apparent. An Old Man threw caution to the wind for his friends and charged forward with determination.
In contrast, the Azure Bat King sat nearby, indifferent to the pleas for help from the Poison Scorpion Master.
Seeing this, the Xia Xing siblings ceased their struggle with me. After a hard clash, they retreated to either side of the Azure Bat King like sentinels guarding him.
With no immediate threat, I finally had a chance to observe my surroundings properly. I couldn't help but wonder; this giant python seemed different from before. Its eyes, once blood-red, now glowed with a greenish hue.
Moreover, the giant snake had its head blown apart by the Azure Bat King’s Talisman. Even a deity would likely not survive such an injury.
As I focused my senses, I realized that the giant snake had lost all signs of life.
For a creature that seemed fearless, An Old Man was unexpectedly sent flying with a single strike.
I rushed forward and caught An Old Man. “An Old Man, something’s off about this snake.”
An Old Man suddenly broke free from my grip, his eyes red with fury. “I don’t care if it’s off or not! All I know is that my brother is trapped by it and in grave danger. I have to save him!”
With that, An Old Man launched a fierce attack on the giant snake, unleashing every technique he had. Fearing for his safety, I followed closely behind to support him, ready to ensure his protection if necessary.
As I approached the giant snake, I felt a wave of deathly energy mixed with a strong sense of resentment.
A surge of excitement filled me; while I couldn’t handle it when it was alive, now that it was dead, I felt more confident.
Although the resentment was overwhelming, I had never encountered such a torrent of it before.
Da Wei Long, Shakyamuni Ksitigarbha, Kasa Fumo—bind!
I summoned Kasa first, ensnaring the giant snake's body.
This gave Wu Lao a brief moment to breathe. I turned to An Old Man and said, “Kasa won’t hold for long. I’ll deal with the giant snake; you find a chance to rescue Wu Lao!”
An Old Man nodded and dashed toward the spot where Wu Lao was trapped within the snake’s coils.
Kasa strained against the massive body of the snake, as if on the verge of breaking apart.
I quickly threw away the obsidian bracelet, and the shining black stones froze in mid-air, forming the shape of the Big Dipper, trapping the Snake Head within the formation.
I then took out Shari, though it wasn’t entirely my decision; Shari was so hot that it nearly burned my chest, and it flew out of my clothing on its own.
Seeing this, I hurriedly recited the Six Character Mantra.
The giant snake's body twisted incessantly, as if my voice was mere noise, disturbing it and causing it to become agitated.
As I sped up my chanting, a mass of black mist began to emerge from the half-remaining head of the giant Snake Head.
Within the Black Mist were faces filled with terror and anger.
It dawned on me that these were likely the souls of people or animals harmed by the giant snake over the years, their accumulated grievances finally surfacing now that the snake was dead.
In its prime, the giant snake was powerful enough to suppress these grievances; now that it was dead, they were free to emerge.
Imagining how these grievances had suffered torment before death and were denied rebirth afterward, it was no wonder they would seize this rare opportunity for vengeance.
I exhausted all my means, creating a chance for the Old Man. Seizing the moment, he rescued Wu Lao, but Wu Lao was already unconscious.
The struggling Poison Scorpion Master pleaded, "Please, save me! If you rescue me, I swear I will never cause trouble again. I will retreat to the mountains and never meddle in worldly affairs."
Yet even if the Old Man had good intentions, I was too weak to maintain my efforts. The Kasa had been shattered by the giant snake, and the Big Dipper Seven Stars Formation had been forced apart; only Shari continued to resist stubbornly.
The giant snake seemed to be in great pain; its remaining consciousness was being eroded by the grievances. Its body twisted almost into a pretzel shape.
In such circumstances, there was no longer any hope for the pitiful Poison Scorpion Master.
My body was crushed into a lump, and my internal organs mixed with blood were expelled.
As the giant serpent writhed, I was tossed into the water like a rag.
I followed suit, leading the giant serpent toward the direction of the Azure Bat King.
Although Yuan Ling was unconscious, he had a strong aversion to Fo Xi on Shari and relentlessly pursued me.
Seeing this, the Azure Bat King’s expression changed dramatically as he cursed, “You little brat!”
He then led the Xia Xing siblings into the forest.
