Wu Lao stood protectively behind everyone, resembling a player in a game of eagle catching chickens, his slightly hunched figure appearing particularly tall. 0

Sounds of fighting echoed through the thick fog, and my anxiety grew as I struggled to see what was happening. 0

Wu Lao fixed his gaze on the mist, his hands swiftly forming seals as he shouted, "Clear Wind!" 0

A gentle breeze began to blow, and soon the surrounding fog dispersed. 0

Someone ignited a prepared bonfire, casting light that illuminated nearly half the village, making it almost as bright as day. 0

I spotted several people surrounding An Old Man at the edge of the firelight, attacking him. 0

Seeing this scene, everyone’s eyes turned red with fury, weapons in hand as they prepared to charge forward. They were attacking right at our doorstep—this was intolerable! 0

Wu Lao glanced at them and restrained the furious crowd, saying, "Old An can handle it for now. Hold back for a moment; there may be a trick involved!" 0

At Wu Lao's words, everyone managed to suppress their anger, breathing heavily as they watched the battle unfold in the distance. 0

An Old Man shouted, "Since you’ve come, do you think you can leave now? There’s no such thing as an easy way out in this world." 0

With his hands forming claws, it seemed a tremendous force pinned those attackers in place. 0

Just as An Old Man was about to strike, a shadow suddenly flew out from the darkness. 0

"With just you? You think you can keep my people here!" The voice dripped with mockery. 0

An Old Man clashed with that person in a powerful exchange and then casually grabbed one of the attackers and hurled him toward us. 0

"Since you're already here, how can I not collect some interest? I owe it to my fallen brothers," An Old Man said, standing with his hands clasped behind his back. 0

Upon seeing the situation, someone shouted, "Retreat!" and then everyone quickly vanished into the darkness. 0

"No need to chase them..." the Old Man stopped those who were about to pursue. 0

Han Che, feeling somewhat indignant, said, "Why not chase? There were only a few of them. We should take advantage of this victory and wipe them out completely." 0

The Old Man did not respond and walked over to the captive. 0

"What if this is a trap set by the enemy?" Wu Lao remarked. 0

As the captive was thrown towards me, I rushed forward and twisted his jaw out of place. 0

The Old Man watched my actions and nodded at me, saying, "You're quite clever." 0

I chuckled, "Isn't that how they do it on TV? Captured assassins always hide poison in their teeth for a quick death." 0

The Old Man dragged the man into the room, and just before reaching the door, he called out, "Ling Feng, you come in too!" 0

I hurriedly entered the room under the envious gazes of everyone. 0

As soon as I stepped inside, the Old Man reset the captive's jaw. Then he swung a fist down, knocking out several of the man's teeth. 0

The captive did not seem to accept his fate; blood filled his mouth as he glared at the Old Man with hatred. "You old fool, if you dare touch me, my Master will never let you go." 0

I stepped forward and punched him. "I don't know if your Master has that capability, but I do know that your life is in my hands right now." 0

He spat a mouthful of blood onto the ground and turned his head away, clearly unwilling to argue with us any further. 0

He adopted an expression that suggested he was ready to die or be mutilated—whatever we wished. 0

The Old Man looked at his fingers and smiled, "No one has ever managed to remain silent in my presence!" 0

At that moment, several small particles were swirling around his fingertips. 0

I had witnessed the Old Man's methods during the border war, so I felt a pang of sympathy for the captive. 0

"Now, how many of you from the Evil Spirit Cult have come this time? Who are they?" The Old Man issued his final ultimatum. 0

The man snorted, showing no intention of cooperating. 0

The Old Man chuckled coldly, pointing a finger at him. He then turned to me and said, "Some people need to suffer a bit before they learn to talk." 0

I nodded and took out a bottle of wine. "Old Man, let’s have a drink. We can enjoy our drinks while listening to the report." 0

The Old Man grinned at me. "You truly know my heart." 0

The captive seemed utterly confused by our demeanor. Wasn't he supposed to be tortured? Where was the tiger bench? The chili water? The electric shocks? 0

I took a sip of wine and said, "Brother, just a friendly reminder: confessing will lead to leniency, while resisting will bring severe consequences. If you want to avoid suffering, you need to cooperate; otherwise..." 0

The man seemed unable to grasp my kind intentions and continued to refuse cooperation. 0

The Old Man snapped his fingers. "If you've come to your senses, just say something." 0

He then ignored the man who was writhing on the ground in pain, screaming in desperation, and continued drinking with me. 0

I felt no sympathy whatsoever for such a ruthless enemy. 0

After about three or five minutes of wailing, the man finally begged for mercy. "Please, I beg you, have mercy and let me go." 0
I scoffed inwardly, feeling a deep disdain. I had originally thought he was a "chaste and virtuous woman," but it turned out he was just a coward. 0

I glanced at the Old Man, who shook his head at me. "Just wait a bit longer." 0

After a while, the Old Man snapped his fingers, and the man let out a long sigh, finally ceasing his frantic shouting. 0

"Are you going to leave on your own, or do we have to make you?" the Old Man tossed a peanut into his mouth and chuckled. 0

The man gasped for breath and replied, "I... I’ll do it all myself. Just don’t snap your fingers again." 0

I laughed and said, "Then it's settled!" 0

"This time we didn’t bring many people, but those who came are all elites from the sect. There’s my Master, the Azure Bat King, along with his two disciples, Xia Xing and Xia Yue. The Poison Scorpion Master is here too, along with his disciple Yao Ji! The rest are just lackeys like us," he blurted out in one breath. 0

The Old Man took a sip of his drink. "The Poison Scorpion and that old fossil from the Azure Bat actually came in person? They must be determined to deal with the Jiao Zhu Evil Spirit Cult!" 0

I asked with some concern, "So what about us…" 0

The Old Man laughed. "Of course there’s no problem. Everyone here is an elite from our Special Investigation Bureau; what do we have to fear? Just one word: fight!" 0

I clinked glasses with the Old Man and shouted, "Damn them!" 0

The man foolishly asked, "Do you mean what you say? I've told you everything I know; can I go now?" 0

Both the Old Man and I replied in unison, "You’re thinking too much!" 0

For someone so deeply poisoned by the Evil Spirit Cult, letting him go would only invite trouble. It would be like releasing a tumor back into society. 0

Someone like him should spend the rest of his life in prison. 0

“Who was that person who clashed with you earlier?” I asked curiously. 0

“The Azure Bat King,” An Lao Dao replied. “You saw how he came out as if he was flying. His strength lies in his incredible speed. Isn’t it said that speed can break through all defenses? Most people can’t even touch him in a fight; how can you compete with that?” 0

Seeing that the man was just a lackey and couldn’t provide any more information, An Old Man instructed for him to be taken away and began to observe more closely. 0

“Since that’s the case, why don’t we let them deal with the giant snake first? We can reap the benefits afterward, what do you think?” I suggested. 0

An Old Man chuckled, “If you can think of it, don’t you think others can too?” 0

“Isn’t it just a matter of willpower? It’s all about who can endure until the end,” I said with a mischievous grin. 0
