“Do you want my body?” My initial fear instantly turned into embarrassment. Although I had spent a considerable amount of time in the Immortal Cave, I had heard of such things before. Some people were simply born with a preference for men.
I quickly covered my backside with the hand that was gripping the man's wrist, tightly clamping my legs together as I said, “What do you want to do? I’m not that kind of person!”
The man seemed oblivious to my implications and spoke to himself, “Your body is young, strong, full of vitality, like a newly risen sun. It carries the breath of life. It is perfect for me.”
I let out a long sigh, my nerves momentarily relaxing before tightening again. Trembling, I asked, “You… you are a Demon Cultist? You want to possess me?”
“You actually know about possession? It seems you are also a practitioner. That makes things easier. Just don’t try to resist; otherwise, you’ll suffer. You should know that the pain of the soul is far more despairing than that of the body,” he threatened, a strange glint flashing in his eyes.
So he was going to possess me and still wouldn’t allow any resistance? What kind of logic was that? Did he expect me to lie down on the ground in a ‘Tai’ position and wait for him to take over?
I stiffened my neck and replied, “If you want to possess me, you’ll have to see what you’re capable of. My master has left a mark in my mind; if he knows I’m in danger, he won’t let you off easily. Unless you plan to live your life in this dark cave without seeing the sun, you’ll likely end up as a rat scurrying through the streets.”
“Ha ha…” The man laughed heartily as if he had heard the greatest joke.
“I, Wu Cheng, the Swallowing Demon Lord, have never feared anyone since entering this world. I’ll be eager to see who ends up being the rat in the end,” he declared, his long hair billowing without wind, exuding an overwhelming aura.
Naturally, his imposing presence diminished mine instantly. The aura emanating from this self-proclaimed Swallowing Demon Lord made me feel weak. Moreover, my master had repeatedly warned me never to mention his name; Fo Zu E would likely lead to a quicker demise for me. After some thought, I decided against mentioning it and turned my head away from the pale and arrogant face of the Swallowing Demon Lord.
I suddenly felt an overwhelming sense of restraint as he used air currents to pin me in mid-air. My complexion grew increasingly pale, taking on an almost translucent quality.
“You old fool! How dare you commit such an outrageous act of possession? Don’t you fear retribution?” I struggled violently and shouted.
The Swallowing Demon Lord glanced at me coldly without responding. He sat cross-legged on the ground, swiftly forming complex hand seals with his hands. His speed was so fast that I could barely comprehend what kind of spell he was using.
I felt like a prey caught by a spider, stuck in its intricate web as I watched the monstrous spider slowly crawl toward me.
A small scar the size of a bowl was all that remained after the head fell, but the process of dying was truly overwhelming.
As the Swallowing Demon Lord's hand seals became faster and faster, his figure began to fade away. In the end, only a pile of clothes lay on the ground.
In its place was a palm-sized spirit, emitting a faint white light. It floated in mid-air, resembling a miniature version of the Swallowing Demon Lord.
I had heard from my master that those who reach a certain level of cultivation can transcend their physical forms and behold the vast landscapes of their homeland.
It seemed that this spirit was the essence of the Swallowing Demon Lord.
Before I could react, a beam of white light shot toward my forehead. I screamed and then fainted, my head pounding with sharp pain.
My last thought was simply one word: pain. It felt as if I had undergone a craniotomy without anesthesia, as if someone had taken a knife and sliced open my forehead, then inserted the Swallowing Demon Lord into my mind.
When I woke up again, I found myself in a chaotic realm surrounded by thick white mist. I shook my head to clear my thoughts.
Despite being confused and bold, I sensed that this place felt familiar and likely posed no threat to me.
After wandering for a while, I realized there were no reference points around; everything looked similar. If I hadn’t been walking, I might have doubted whether I had moved at all.
“Hmm? There’s such a strong barrier in this monk’s Sea of Thought?” A familiar deep male voice echoed.
I cautiously hid behind a cloud of mist and observed the floating miniature version of the Swallowing Demon Lord. This demonic figure, resembling an infant, looked like a porcelain doll, his fierce demeanor softened somewhat.
Yet his furrowed brow and the gleam in his eyes made him appear somewhat unsettling.
"I never expected that such a big secret was hidden within this monk's body. It seems that this time, I will benefit from it," the Swallowing Demon Lord laughed heartily.
He then formed a hand seal and pointed a finger at the transparent barrier. The barrier rippled like a flowing surface of water, creating concentric waves.
After a moment, the Swallowing Demon Lord's face turned even paler, and the barrier seemed to reach its breaking point, deeply concaving inwards.
With a crisp "pop," the barrier burst like a bubble, dissolving into foam within the white mist. The Swallowing Demon Lord laughed as he floated inside, as if he could seize control of my body in the next moment.
"Get lost..."
A massive roar shook me to my core, causing my vision to blur and blood to spill from the corner of my mouth. The Swallowing Demon Lord's body was sent flying like a broken doll.
The tremendous sound struck like a hammer on my heart, and I watched as wave after wave of sound engulfed the Swallowing Demon Lord. His once solid form became increasingly transparent.
Clutching his chest, the Swallowing Demon Lord's eyes were filled with shock as he muttered, "Impossible, impossible..."
He then pointed into the distance and said, "You are not him; you are not that monk..."
I struggled against the weakness threatening to overwhelm me and raised my gaze toward the direction indicated by the Swallowing Demon Lord. What I saw left me dumbfounded.
I saw another version of myself trapped within a barrier. The same brows, the same face. However, this person's expression was filled with cruelty, surrounded by Black Mist, with cold, emotionless eyes fixated on the Swallowing Demon Lord.
"What exactly are you?" The Swallowing Demon Lord's voice trembled slightly, panic creeping into his gaze. The earlier arrogance had vanished completely.
"Now that you've come, don't leave. It's been a long time since I've consumed such pure energy," the other me said softly, licking his lips lightly.
The Swallowing Demon Lord was indeed a seasoned veteran. Sensing that the situation was not in his favor, he quickly retreated.
The man curled his fingers, a cold smile appearing at the corner of his mouth. The Swallowing Demon Lord, who had been retreating, suddenly found himself moving swiftly toward the man instead.
Just as he was about to fall into the man's grasp, a fierce glint flashed in the eyes of the Swallowing Demon Lord. He seemed to employ some unknown method, and his entire body emitted a strange red glow.
With a loud bang, the Swallowing Demon Lord transformed into a cloud of blood mist and quickly vanished.
The man sneered, "A duck that was almost in my grasp has managed to escape? However, this one does possess some courage to use blood escape in such a weakened state."
Then I felt as if I had been locked onto, a chilling gaze fixated upon me.
"What's wrong? Aren't you going to come out and meet me?" the man taunted.
