"Master Liu, my lady has arrived."
A Fu hurriedly reported while Liu Ying was organizing the astrological predictions. Looking up, she saw a luxurious sedan chair had stopped in front of the Qintian Observatory. As the curtain was lifted, Madam Chu descended with the assistance of her maid.
"Please have Madam Chu wait a moment; I will be right there," Liu Ying replied calmly. She knew this day would come eventually, but she hadn't expected it to arrive so soon.
Inside the room, Madam Chu sat elegantly in the main seat, dressed in a brocade gown that exuded an air of nobility with every gesture. Upon seeing Liu Ying enter, she revealed a meaningful smile. "Master Liu, have you been well?"
"Thank you for your concern, Madam," Liu Ying said while bowing. "May I ask why you have come today…?"
"Oh dear," Madam Chu interrupted her. "I heard that Master Liu predicted a top scholar would emerge from the north recently? That is truly… remarkable."
Liu Ying's heart sank. The Chu family was a prominent clan from the south, and Madam Chu's husband, Chu Shangshu, was a leading figure among southern officials. If this prediction came true, it would undoubtedly strike a blow to the Southern Forces.
"You flatter me, Madam. This humble official merely follows the Celestial Phenomenon Prediction and does not dare to speak recklessly."
"Is that so?" Madam Chu toyed with her jade ring, her gaze sharp as a blade. "Then I wonder if Master Liu remembers agreeing to calculate the marriage fate for my daughter Yuyan some time ago?"
As soon as those words were spoken, the atmosphere in the room grew tense. However, Liu Ying remained composed. "Of course I remember. With Qixi approaching, I will certainly…"
"Qixi?" Madam Chu scoffed. "By then, you may find yourself unable to protect your own interests." She leaned slightly forward. "I have heard that someone in court has already impeached the Qintian Observatory for making reckless predictions that could harm the nation. Master Liu, what do you think should be done about this?"
Just as her words fell, footsteps suddenly echoed from outside.
"Madam is joking," a gentle voice interjected. "The officials of Qintian Observatory are tasked with predicting celestial phenomena; how could there be any talk of reckless predictions harming the nation?"
Liu Ying turned to see Su Jinzhi standing at the door with his hands clasped behind his back. The young physician wore plain brocade robes and carried himself with elegance, yet his gaze was exceptionally resolute.
" Imperial Physician Su?" Madam Chu clearly did not expect him to appear. "What brings you here…?"
"This humble official has been ordered to check on the pulse of the officials at Qintian Observatory," Su Jinzhi said as he approached leisurely. "I heard that Master Liu has been overworking lately and came to see how things were going. I didn't expect to find Madam here."
Madam Chu's expression shifted slightly. Although Su Jinzhi was merely a physician, his exceptional medical skills earned him the queen's trust. His presence now clearly hinted at something significant.
"In that case, I shall take my leave," Madam Chu said as she stood up, casting a meaningful glance at Liu Ying before departing. "Master Liu, please take care regarding Yuyan's marriage fate."
Once Madam Chu left, Liu Ying let out a long sigh of relief. "Thank you for your assistance, Lord Su."
"It was nothing," Su Jinzhi replied as he took out a white porcelain medicine bottle. "This is medicine to help you calm your mind and soothe your spirit." After a pause, he added, "I heard that your prediction has already spread to various places in the north."
Liu Ying was taken aback. "So soon?"
"Yes." Su Jinzhi looked out the window thoughtfully. "Moreover, many prominent families in the north have already begun to take action." He turned back to her with a serious expression. "Liu Ying, do you understand what this prediction implies?"
Liu Ying remained silent. She certainly understood that once this prediction was made public, it would inevitably provoke a struggle between northern and southern forces. However… her gaze fell upon the Star Chart on her desk; those celestial signs clearly indicated deeper mysteries yet to be unraveled.
"By the way," Su Jinzhi seemed to recall something, "there's been a 'madman' on the streets lately who can tell fortunes. He speaks in riddles; I wonder if you've heard of him?"
Liu Ying's heart skipped a beat. Why did Su Jinzhi suddenly bring up Xu Yuan?
Just as she was about to ask, a hurried report came from outside: "Master Liu, Lord Zhang commands you to go to the Council Hall immediately!"
Before she left, Su Jinzhi reminded her, "Remember, some things don’t need to be said out loud."
Liu Ying nodded thoughtfully. As she stepped out of the duty room, she noticed a White Dove flying past the eaves and couldn't help but recall Xu Yuan's words about meeting under the Purple Forbidden Constellation on Qixi. The celestial phenomenon at that time might hold the key to unraveling all these mysteries.
