I gazed at the cave entrance, my brow furrowed in deep contemplation, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't find an answer.
Finally, I shifted my gaze to the Old Man.
“Speak! What on earth is going on?” Usually, the Old Man appeared as a lovable old rascal, but I never expected him to harbor so many secrets and keep them from me.
“I…” The Old Man trembled under my stare, and with a thud, he knelt before me, his voice quivering as he pleaded, “Princess, spare me! Princess, spare me!”
My frown deepened as I deliberately adopted the serious demeanor of Kua Fu, sternly commanding, “Speak!”
Then, the Old Man began to babble incoherently, revealing everything.
It turned out that I was the illegitimate daughter of the Jade Emperor. Fearing that the Queen Mother would fly into a rage upon discovering my existence, he arranged for me to serve as a maid beside my half-brother—the Sun God. However, he was also worried that I might be bullied outside, so he bestowed upon me the Old Man and the Qian Kun Bag for protection.
The real reason I was cast out of Heaven and thrown into Zai Tian mountain was that the Sun God feared Hou Yi would truly create a divine arrow and kill him and his sisters. Thus, he sent me to ask Kua Fu for help and repeatedly instructed me to use any means necessary—even kidnapping or seduction—to ensure that Kua Fu would kill Hou Yi.
After hearing this, disdain filled my expression as I scoffed, “There are so many deities in Heaven; anyone could easily stab Hou Yi to death. Why must it be me… to seduce Kua Fu…” I finished speaking and shyly lowered my head, yet deep inside, I felt an inexplicable sensation.
The Old Man said with a serious expression, “That’s not possible! Hou Yi is an Underworld Demon Lord in disguise; only Kua Fu can subdue him.”
After saying this, the Old Man added, “Actually, when he descended to Earth, I mentioned that you aren’t beautiful at all; seduction wouldn’t work. But the Sun God insisted that among you and a few other princesses in Heaven who are tall like you, you were the only one who could be sacrificed…”
Upon hearing this, I was so furious that I almost slapped him. However, after hearing his next words, I fell into an endless reverie.
"However, it seems that Kua Fu has taken a liking to you! You have no idea, when Kua Fu saw you lying unconscious in the canyon, the expression on his face... tsk tsk tsk... it was filled with such tenderness!"
I shot Old Man a glance, but my mind had already begun to wander. Although it was an ancient era, there were still customs about propriety between men and women, right? Since he had already... treated me that way, could I use this as an excuse to marry him?
Thinking of his strikingly handsome face made my heart race like a little rabbit, thumping wildly; it was truly irresistible!
Moreover, in ancient times, men were scarce. It was only logical to seize the opportunity and claim a handsome one!
Thus, I stayed in the cave for quite some time, and my body had mostly recovered.
My legs could stretch freely now; although my feet had grown slightly larger, it did not affect my graceful inner qualities at all.
The only downside was that my skin had lost its original layer of soot but had not returned to its previous fair and radiant state. Instead, it had turned a bright red, resembling a roasted lamb that had been cooked through—except it didn’t emit any meaty aroma.
Feeling gloomy, I sat on a large rock in a daze. Suddenly, under the sunlight, my chest felt as if it were on fire; it grew hotter and more painful by the moment.
Terrified, I looked down at my neckline and saw two red fleshy "buns" that had turned bright red and purple, even shimmering with a glaring red light!
In agony, I rolled on the ground uncontrollably.
I heard a "rumbling" sound beneath me as countless cracks appeared where I had rolled.
Just when I could hardly bear the pain, Kua Fu came rushing from afar. He intended to scoop me up in his arms but immediately recoiled as if electrocuted upon touching my skin.
"What happened? Why are you so hot?" Kua Fu asked anxiously, his face filled with worry.
I clawed at my skin in agony, my clothes completely burned away, leaving only my scorched flesh as I rolled on the ground.
Kua Fu glanced at me in distress and quickly pulled out the Qian Kun Bag from his bosom, retrieving some ice from within to apply to my body.
I watched as wisps of smoke slowly rose, the ice evaporating instantly into mist that dissipated into the air.
"What... what should we do?" Kua Fu looked at me, panicking and at a loss, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.
"Hurry! Take her to the Heavenly Court; the water in immortal pool might save her!" Old Man shouted breathlessly as he flew over, gasping for air.
Without hesitation, Kua Fu tore open the Qian Kun Bag, wrapping it around me to cover my exposed skin before hoisting me onto his back and sprinting towards the Heavenly Court.
Strangely, the Qian Kun Bag remained unburned.
I curled up tightly, afraid of burning Kua Fu and reluctant to touch his back.
But he suddenly slapped his hand against my back, and I lost all strength, leaning against him for support.
With a hiss, his clothes were burned away, and his skin emitted a charred smell.
