Yue Keyan rushed back to the Lin Residence. As soon as she stepped into the backyard, she saw Lan Xibai gliding down from the roof. "You finally made it back," Lan Xibai said. 0

Noticing that Yue Keyan's hands were empty, Lan Xibai narrowed her eyes dangerously. "Where are the groceries? You’re not trying to pull some trick, are you?" 0

Ignoring her fear, Yue Keyan tiptoed and wrapped her arms around Lan Xibai's leg, pleading, "Great and compassionate demon, please save my grandmother!" 0

"What happened to your grandmother?" Lan Xibai brushed aside Yue Keyan's grip on her leg and floated down to meet her gaze, their noses almost touching. 0

The cool breath from Lan Xibai brushed against Yue Keyan's lips, sending a shiver down her spine. 0

Anxious and flustered, she spoke in a jumble of words, recounting how she had nearly starved as a child wandering the streets, then shifting to how her grandmother had taken in both her and Little Mouse out of kindness. 0

Finally, she said, "The doctor said my grandmother is already beyond saving. Please, I beg you to help her!" 0

"If it were three hundred years ago, I could help you by asking the Great Sage Equal to Heaven to alter the King of Hell’s ledger of life and death. But now, I fear I am powerless." Seeing Yue Keyan's tear-filled eyes, Lan Xibai felt a twinge of sympathy. She reached out and gently patted Yue Keyan's back, trying to comfort her. "Don't cry; your grandmother is a good person and will surely receive blessings." 0

"With your immense powers, how can you be powerless?" More tears fell from Yue Keyan's eyes. "Do you not want to help me?" 0

Lan Xibai withdrew her hand and shrugged helplessly. "Let me be honest with you; I cannot leave this little courtyard at all. I have no physical body or even a complete soul. If I step outside this courtyard, I will simply vanish." 0

"How can that be?" 0

"Because..." Lan Xibai suddenly paused, a look of melancholy crossing her face. She floated back several feet before stretching out in the air as if lying down. 0

He quietly gazed at the dimming horizon, as if lost in distant memories. "Forget it, let's not talk about that. There is actually a way, but perhaps it could be dangerous for you." 0

"Dangerous? Will I die?" A flicker of fear flashed in Yue Keyan's eyes as she asked anxiously. 0

"I don't know." Lan Xibai gently shook his head, a hint of helplessness on his face. "I’m not even sure if this method will work. Are you willing to take that risk?" His gaze was fixed intently on Yue Keyan, seemingly waiting for her response. 0

Yue Keyan pondered seriously for a moment, then lifted her face, her eyes firmly locked onto the faint shadow in the air. With utmost seriousness, she declared, "Since I might not die, for Grandma's sake, I am willing to take the risk." 0

Suddenly recalling something, a trace of worry crossed her expression as she reached out and tugged at Lan Xibai's sleeve. "What about you? Will you be in danger?" 0

"Me?" Lan Xibai felt a jolt in his heart, a glimmer of surprise flashing in his eyes. Was she actually concerned about him? 0

He smiled gently, his expression mingling melancholy with a hint of joy. "I wouldn’t mind dying; unfortunately... If I were to die, that wouldn’t be so bad. These past three hundred years have been rather lonely for me. Meeting you makes me feel fortunate; you make me believe that I haven’t been forgotten in the Five Realms, that I’m not just a pitiful creature lost to everyone." His voice gradually grew softer. 0

— It was clear that she had deliberately left him with a fragment of his soul, allowing him to exist in this state between demon and ghost. But why had she never sought him out in these three hundred years? 0

Had she long since ceased to recognize him as her disciple? 0

Yue Keyan's heartbeat inexplicably slowed for a moment. Although Lan Xibai was smiling, she felt a pang in her heart. 0

After a pause, she suddenly stood on tiptoe and gently pressed her face against his palm, speaking tenderly, "Lan Xibai, not just for Grandma’s sake but also for you, I will succeed. Tell me what I need to do." Her eyes were filled with determination and resolve. 0

"I will send you back three hundred years ago. You must find me in that time and space and then stop me—" 0

Lan Xibai suddenly fell silent. He was unaware of when the wind had begun to blow, but the chilly evening breeze rustled through the garden's withered trees, producing a soft, whispering sound that added to the desolation around him. 0

Amidst this mournful wind, he heard a voice that seemed distant and almost foreign to him: "Preventing me from going to Tianshan Sect to find Bai Su is what has transformed me into this state, neither demon nor ghost. If you can change my fate, I will find a way to save your grandmother!" 0
