Beneath a towering cliff, a continuous roar of water cascaded down from a height of over ten meters, creating a tumultuous spectacle. The boiling mist shimmered in the warm light, reflecting countless rays of brilliance.
The rushing waters flowed relentlessly down the wide riverbed.
However, on a flat rock jutting out beside the river, a robust figure sat undisturbed, despite the crashing waves that surged around him. The water seemed to part around him, as if an invisible barrier held it at bay.
This imposing man, seated cross-legged on the rock, wore tattered tactical gear and loose camouflage pants. He had thick eyebrows and large eyes, a high nose and broad mouth. His unkempt appearance belied a certain gravitas that radiated from him.
He stroked his chin while gazing up at the waterfall's cliff face, lost in thought. There, etched into the sheer rock were numerous astonishing handprints, as if carved by some great force.
These handprints varied in depth and technique, surrounded by deep gashes made by some sharp weapon, crisscrossing with lethal precision.
It was these sword marks that marred many of the handprints, preventing them from connecting and complicating any attempts to decipher their meaning.
Nearby, in a grove of trees by the riverbank, a cozy campfire crackled warmly. A portable kettle sat on a wooden rack, water bubbling away as several slender wooden stakes leaned against the fire, skewering plump fish that sizzled and released golden oil.
“Oh dear sister, there are so many mosquitoes here,” complained the young man, delicately arranging his hair with his fingers. “I've been bitten all over!”
“Just bear with it,” replied the woman as she poked at the fire with a stick. The flames crackled and popped, sending warmth into the air and dispelling the damp chill from the waterfall.
The two sitting by the fire were siblings Zhi Yin and Zhi Kuo. Zhi Yin appeared particularly anxious as she watched the figure seated on the stone beneath the waterfall—someone from Great Fox Manor.
“How much longer is he going to sit there? He’s been there all night,” Zhi Kuo said, resting his chin on his hand and looking somewhat bored. In this place, aside from fishing and foraging for wild fruits, they hadn’t encountered any significant danger.
Three people entered from the Great Whirlpool and took a different path up a mountain peak, following the flow of the waterfall until they arrived here. They had intended to climb to the summit for a better view, but unexpectedly, the large figure from Great Fox Manor discovered handprints and sword marks on the waterfall's cliff while idly fishing. Since then, he had been sitting alone on a rock, contemplating those handprints as if trying to decipher something profound.
"I don't know," Zhi Yin said, unable to make a judgment. For someone with the talent of Great Fox Manor, it might take a week or even a month to gain insight, which would be considered short. Neither of them wanted to disturb him, so they could only set up camp by the riverbank and patiently wait.
"What's so fascinating about those handprints? He's such a cultivation fanatic," Zhi Kuo complained in confusion.
"Be patient," Zhi Yin comforted him. She picked up some thick logs from the nearby woodpile and tossed them into the fire to make it burn brighter, feeling a chill in the air.
"Forget it, let's eat," Zhi Kuo said as he handed a roasted fish to his sister before taking one for himself and biting into it.
The taste of the roasted fish was quite good; indeed, the fish from beneath the waterfall was rich and tempting. Zhi Kuo devoured two fish in quick succession, still wanting more.
Suddenly, the figure from Great Fox Manor, sitting cross-legged on the rock, seemed to have an epiphany. He abruptly raised his hand, and the cascading water of the river formed into a massive palm shape that crashed down toward the surging waterfall.
Boom!
The enormous waves of the waterfall erupted violently.
"So that's what that palm looks like," Great Fox Manor mused, stroking his chin as if he understood something but then muttered to himself, "No, that sword was so powerful; this level alone can't possibly block it!"
With that thought, he fell back into deep contemplation.
Meanwhile, Zhi Yin, who had been eating roasted fish by the fire, suddenly put her food down. Zhi Kuo sensed something amiss and turned to look. In the forest appeared a man and a woman.
Zhi Kuo grabbed his Energy Gun, filled with vigilance.
Not far away.
"Hey, I'm hungry," the girl shouted at the young man in front of her, who was carrying a Greatsword on his back.
Suddenly, the man stopped and looked at the pair blocking their path, Zhi Yin and Zhi Kuo.
"Don't shoot; we're not bad people," Lu Fei Fan raised his hands in surrender.
Sebella followed closely behind, watching the couple by the campfire. The man was even twirling his hair with his fingers, exuding an alluring charm. His gaze towards Lu Fei Fan was oddly intense.
"Sister, they don't seem like bad people. Why not let them come over?" Zhi Kuo said, throwing a flirtatious wink at Lu Fei Fan.
Sebella tugged at Lu Fei Fan's sleeve. Spotting the roasted fish by the fire, her stomach growled loudly. Glancing at Zhi Kuo's lecherous eyes, she smirked and said, "You should just sacrifice yourself; I'm starving."
Without waiting for Lu Fei Fan's agreement or disagreement, she marched straight towards the campfire.
Seeing Sebella approach with a scruffy rabbit in hand, her finger pressed to her lips as she eyed the roasted fish, Zhi Kuo kindly picked up a piece of fish and offered it to her.
"Thank you," Sebella said before sitting down.
Lu Fei Fan naturally didn’t hold back either; he plopped down beside her and grabbed a piece of roasted fish, tearing into it without hesitation.
The two had been running through the maze and were already famished. To make matters worse, they hadn’t found a single wild fruit tree along the way. They had been following the riverbank to see if there was anything to eat when they unexpectedly ran into Zhi Yin and Zhi Kuo.
"You two look like you're in quite a predicament," Zhi Kuo remarked, turning a piece of roasted fish on a wooden fork in his hand. He had just gone to the riverbank to catch two more fish.
"I feel like I've seen you somewhere before," Zhi Yin said, a sense of familiarity lingering around Lu Fei Fan, though she couldn't quite place it.
At that moment, a loud crash erupted from the waterfall, sending waves soaring over ten meters high. A massive cloud-like hand descended and struck the cliffside with a thunderous boom.
The imprints of the hand and the sword marks on the cliff were completely shattered.
Lu Fei Fan instinctively reached for his sword, while Sebella was startled, thinking that the monsters had caught up to them.
A towering figure sprang up from the rocks, arcing through the air with a fierce and overwhelming Pulse Energy, landing not far from the group’s campfire with a resounding thud.
"Ha ha! We meet again!" Great Fox Manor exclaimed, recognizing Lu Fei Fan with genuine joy.
"Congratulations," Lu Fei Fan replied warmly.
Zhi Yin and Zhi Kuo exchanged puzzled glances at Great Fox Manor, unsure of what Lu Fei Fan was congratulating him for.
"Truly impressive! After advancing to War God, your Pulse Energy is now twice as potent as that of an ordinary War God!" Sebella remarked, nibbling on a roasted fish. She knew exactly who this rugged and disheveled giant was.
"War God?!" Zhi Yin and Zhi Kuo looked at the man in astonishment, as Great Fox Manor had not been part of the War God Realm before.
"Yes, I’ve gained some insights; the years of hard work have finally paid off," Great Fox Manor said as he took a large bite of roasted fish. Zhi Yin gently handed him a water bottle from the side.
Great Fox Manor accepted it without hesitation, gulping down the water eagerly.
"What have you all encountered on your journey?" Great Fox Manor asked Lu Fei Fan and Sebella after setting down the water bottle.
Lu Fei Fan and Sebella exchanged a glance, and then Sebella nudged Lu Fei Fan, signaling him to come over.
Having nearly finished his meal, Lu Fei Fan clapped his hands and sighed in resignation, "This is a big trouble. We need to leave Bai Di Cheng as soon as possible."
"Oh?" Great Fox Manor immediately perked up at the mention of big trouble, eager to inquire further.
Suddenly, from the other side of the forest, a black light shot through like a black comet, exploding with intensity!
Boom!
A torrent of energy surged down like a landslide, cutting through countless trees with precision. They toppled over in unison, crashing to the ground.
The overwhelming energy prompted Great Fox Manor to raise a hand, instantly enveloping everyone in a protective barrier to prevent any injuries.
On the hillside of the forest, a dark figure leaped into the air, wielding a black spear. He moved with agility like a shadow, darting between the trees with the speed of a panther.
"Hmm?"
"Is it him?"
Both Lu Fei Fan and Great Fox Manor recognized the figure charging down with the spear—it was Luo Jing, brandishing the Yan Luo Spear!
Sebella, who had been calmly enjoying her grilled fish, suddenly sprang to her feet.
"Run!" Instinctively, Sebella grabbed Lu Fei Fan's hand and took off at full speed.
Lu Fei Fan was not being polite either.
Great Fox Manor, Zhi Yin, and Zhi Kuo had yet to react when a series of loud cracking sounds echoed through the air, as if countless trees were breaking. Behind Luo Jing, a shadow resembling a curtain of water surged up rapidly, its body adorned with numerous flickering metallic energies. It looked like a massive black drapery, stretching for dozens of meters!
"What the hell is that thing?" Zhi Yin screamed in terror.
Great Fox Manor's expression turned grave. The moment he stood up, the water-like monster on the hillside began to shoot out clusters of Black Liquid spheres.
As Luo Jing sprinted down, he suddenly shouted at Great Fox Manor, Zhi Yin, and Zhi Kuo, "Run!"
With a swift motion, he unleashed a Yan Luo Spear, sending a torrent of Pulse Energy crashing toward the two speeding Black Spheres. Boom! Boom!
The exploding liquid scattered everywhere; however, they continued to absorb and gather.
When the flying liquid spheres collided with the trees and fell to the ground, they rapidly sprouted limbs and transformed into monstrous creatures that crawled like beasts. They had sharp claws and large mouths, and astonishingly, their bodies resembled liquid.
"Oh my God, what kind of monsters are these?" Zhi Kuo exclaimed as he raised his gun. Bang! Bang! Bang! Several shots fired, but they only pierced through the creatures' bodies without killing them. Even more alarming was that the wounds created by the bullets were healing almost instantly.
Around them, dozens of rapidly growing monsters lunged toward Zhi Yin and Zhi Kuo!
Great Fox Manor suddenly raised his hand, unleashing an enormous cloud-like palm made of invisible Pulse Energy. The impact shattered the dozen or so monsters with incredible force from his Chuzhong Palm.
Yet they continued to gather on the ground, healing themselves.
"Sis, they're going to regroup!" Zhi Kuo felt a shiver run down his spine.
“Brother Lie Zhuang!” Zhi Yin looked towards Great Fox Manor.
“No wonder those two Fellows ran away so quickly. You all go ahead! I’ll go meet this monster!” With that, he leaped into the air with a loud bang, and a brilliant flash of lightning erupted from his body.
In the distance, Lu Fei Fan and Sebella, who were running frantically, glanced back.
“Oh? The strongest young expert of the Free Federation has made his move!” Sebella remarked, but her feet did not pause for even a moment.
Lu Fei Fan also slowed his pace slightly; he was quite curious about what astonishing methods Great Fox Manor would employ against that monster!
