Lian Qingzong and Jiang Lao arrived at the designated location, where they joined his grandfather and others. Lian Qingzong, with his cold and proud demeanor, nodded in greeting to several uncles, who returned the gesture with a slight nod.
Their attention was more focused on the strange happenings above. Dark clouds rolled ominously, accompanied by continuous flashes of lightning and thunder.
Within the clouds, the Consciousness of a Colossal Creature seemed to be brewing something.
Sure enough, after a short while, the Colossal Creature, hidden among the clouds, revealed four thick tentacles that danced in the air. It intentionally obscured its full form, but as it moved, the swirling patterns on its tentacles became clear, resembling the horns of some great beast.
Then an astonishing scene unfolded. In the swirling vortex of dark clouds, the mouth of a golden waterfall began to close, while the tentacles reached into the clouds. The thunder continued to roar relentlessly; everyone understood that this was just the beginning.
Indeed, after a tremendous clap of thunder, the thick clouds far away opened up again, swirling ominously.
The tentacles seemed to control that opening, dancing beneath a portal that emitted holy light. This was an unnamed sea area dozens of miles away from Rainforest Island, where this Consciousness had come to a halt.
Suddenly, the dark clouds surged downwards like a heavy curtain. The tentacles began to elongate, moving with agility like Tentacles. Soon after, lightning crackled between several tentacles, creating dazzling sparks and surges of energy!
“It’s here!” Lian Qingzong's grandfather stood atop a tall tree with a group of people, watching the sudden changes at the Sea Surface.
Everyone held their breath in rapt attention, afraid to blink lest they miss this once-in-a-lifetime spectacle!
As expected, from the split opening above came a beam of energy as thick as a long rainbow. It crashed down like a pillar into the Ground, connecting with the Sea Surface. The surrounding seawater began to swirl around this massive Energy Column, creating turbulent mists above the Sea Surface. The tentacles danced around this golden Energy Column while lightning flickered between them.
Boom—
A tremendous rumble echoed from the Sea Surface as if something had been sensed beneath.
Lu Fei Fan squinted at this scene when he noticed a group approaching not far away.
Leading them was Dongfang Jun, who had previously clashed with Nangong Chuhe and others. Following closely were Sh Soul and Duo Hun, two elders. A dozen or so guards trailed behind them; each possessed formidable combat abilities and were equipped with advanced Hot Weapons and protective gear. Notably, Dongfang Jun's bare arms showcased a giant python tattoo and two exquisite golden Energy Guns at his waist—his ostentation made it impossible for Lu Fei Fan to ignore him.
“Hmm? A wealthy young master?” Lu Fei Fan suddenly felt a surge of impulse to rob.
Sh Soul and Duo Hun seemed to sense something, quickly looking towards the tree where Lu Fei Fan was located. To their surprise, the tree was empty. They exchanged puzzled glances, feeling the tension in the air.
Dongfang Jun glanced at his two bodyguards and waved his hand dismissively. “Don’t worry too much; my sister will be here soon.”
Not long after, two figures dressed in black Rain Cloaks emerged from ahead.
“Sister.” Dongfang Jun recognized the two immediately as they approached.
The pair stood before Dongfang Jun and removed their Hat Hoods. One of them, a woman, was strikingly beautiful, with elegantly arched eyebrows that flowed into her hair, exuding an air of grace.
This was Dongfang Jun’s sister, Dongfang Hui.
Accompanying her was another man wearing a Mask, revealing only a pair of dark eyes. He glanced indifferently at Dongfang Jun before surveying Duo Hun and Sh Soul behind him. He didn’t greet anyone and appeared to have something heavy concealed beneath his Rain Cloak.
“Hey, sis, if you had arrived half an hour earlier…” Dongfang Jun lamented.
“What’s wrong? Did you run into trouble?” Dongfang Hui asked, frowning slightly at her brother’s flamboyant attire but otherwise appearing unconcerned.
“Not really,” Dongfang Jun sighed. “I just missed the chance to take out Nangong Wulie.”
“Oh? That old Fellow?” Dongfang Hui looked momentarily surprised.
Dongfang Jun clenched his teeth in frustration. “The Nangong family has nearly wiped themselves out trying to seize that ‘Golden Skeleton.’”
“Hmm, I heard about that on my way here,” Dongfang Hui nodded, seeming unfazed. The ‘Golden Skeleton’ was indeed a valuable item; aside from its potential for crafting weapons and armor, a high-quality ‘Golden Skeleton’ contained energy that was a supreme treasure for cultivation. Nangong Wulie and his crew had clearly recognized that those ‘Golden Skeletons’ were not ordinary goods and had recklessly taken the risk. They just hadn’t anticipated underestimating the power of the Ancient Consciousness lurking in the clouds.
“Hmph! If it weren’t for Luo Jing suddenly showing up, I could have dealt a devastating blow to the Nangong Family today. It would have been a fitting response for what happened to my uncle all those years ago when they claimed he was accidentally injured.” Dongfang Jun angrily punched a nearby tree.
The Nangong Family has long suppressed the Dongfang Family in various businesses, a trend that has persisted for two or three generations. It is clear that the Dongfang Family's business acumen has never matched that of the Nangong Family.
In recent years, the Nangong Family's influence has waned, with their business sprawling across every corner of the Free Federation, yet their overall family strength has gradually diminished compared to the Dongfang Family.
The emergence of two prodigies, Dongfang Hui and Dongfang Qiubai, from the younger generation has further worried the Nangong Family. Nangong Wulie is determined to make a desperate bid, hoping to secure more cultivation resources for the Nangong Family.
Unfortunately, one misstep could lead to total defeat. The Nangong Family may indeed be overshadowed by the Dongfang Family in the coming decades.
"Luo Jing?" Dongfang Hui is quite familiar with Luo Jing; they have faced each other several times, with each having their victories and defeats.
It is strange that the Nangong Family has not produced any talents in recent decades. When Nangong Wulie's eldest daughter insisted on marrying the obscure Luo family, Nangong Wulie was furious and declared he would rather disown her. Now, it seems ironic that the Luo family has produced such an anomaly as Luo Jing, who has managed to enter the ranks of talent in the Free Federation wielding an ancestral spear known as 'Hei Yan Luo'.
Nangong Wulie's thoughts must be quite complex. Although Luo Jing's mother is from the Nangong Family, Luo Jing has never considered himself part of that lineage. This time, however, he unexpectedly aids Nangong Wulie, which surprises Dongfang Hui. Yet, people are often bound by their heritage; blood is thicker than water.
"Let's not concern ourselves with them for now," Dongfang Hui said, casting aside these thoughts as he gazed at the surging sea surface in the distance, illuminated by Guanghua like a waterfall.
"The Holy Grail Eye is about to open; there’s only one chance to enter Bai Di Cheng. We cannot afford to miss it," Dongfang Hui stated.
Meanwhile, Lu Fei Fan, hidden behind another tree, felt a jolt of realization. Could their earlier mention of the Holy Grail Eye be related to this current phenomenon at sea? What exactly is Bai Di Cheng? Is it an ancient site?
Lu Fei Fan pondered deeply. The gains from the Tomb of the Giant Whale had transformed him completely. He discovered that within his chaotic universe of Pulse Energy shone nine suns, with countless Morning Stars. However, after battling Bian Jian, he had exhausted three suns' worth of Pulse Energy storage, dimming many stars. Yet compared to before, Lu Fei Fan clearly felt his strength hovering around the level of a Special-Class General, still some distance from a Top War General. His ability to defeat Bian Jian was partly due to Bian Jian's underestimation of him.
Additionally, his awakened mind gift and self-created technique, Mind Storm's Three Thousand Flying Blossoms, had left Bian Jian unable to defend himself.
Moreover, Bian Jian had only recently ascended and was not as powerful as someone truly established in the War God Realm. In fact, even this Dongfang Hui appeared weaker than him. Although she seemed only to possess beginner War God strength, she gave off an impression far stronger than Bian Jian. The oppressive aura emanating from her consciousness made Lu Fei Fan cautious as he concealed himself among the leaves, not daring to relax even slightly for fear of provoking her.
Lu Fei Fan sensed that this woman meant trouble but was clearly focused on the Holy Grail Eye. As for their Nangong family affairs, he had little interest in knowing more.
Since the Tomb of the Giant Whale had allowed Lu Fei Fan to be reborn and now the Holy Grail Eye was opening at sea, he certainly would not miss this opportunity. Perhaps he could take advantage of the chaos and gain something beneficial; he would not let this chance slip away.
The pillar of golden light in the sky stirred the sea surface, causing a dense mist to spread outwards, obscuring visibility all around. After more than half an hour, the golden light in the sky gradually weakened, and the tentacles of the giant beast crackled with lightning as they retracted back into the clouds, though the thunder still roared within them.
Soon after, the gap from which the golden light had fallen was covered by dark clouds, and the thick clouds above reverberated with the sound of thunder.
Suddenly, three 'Black Crow' reconnaissance flying ships from the Free Federation swooped down. These flying ships were incredibly fast, making it difficult for even heavy rain artillery to hit them. They were clearly heading towards the strange phenomena occurring at the sea surface.
After all, any unknown occurrences outside the Juhai Great Wall could potentially alter the course of the Human World or even lead to extinction.
The Free Federation Army would not sit idly by; they dispatched three 'Black Crow' reconnaissance aircraft, indicating their serious concern regarding this anomaly.
However, as soon as the three reconnaissance fighter jets skimmed over the sea surface, multiple bolts of lightning fell from the clouds above. A dense and terrifying electric net struck one of the reconnaissance flying ships, sending it crashing into the water in a massive explosion.
The other two quickly veered left and right to evade, but a tentacle from the clouds descended unexpectedly. One aircraft managed to dodge just in time, but another tentacle that had been gathering momentum struck down like a hook, easily slicing the reconnaissance flying ship in half before it plummeted into the sea surface amidst thick smoke.
One remaining aircraft quickly activated its cloaking device. It seemed that the consciousness controlling this area chose to spare this cloaked aircraft. The 'Black Crow' flew through the heavy mist and arrived at the area where the golden light had fallen. The flying ship reached the central zone, and its high-speed reconnaissance camera swiftly transmitted what was happening at the sea surface back to the Free Federation!
An astonishing scene appeared on the screens of the Free Federation's operational command center!
