Lu Fei Fan was unaware of the crisis outside. He felt a tremendous surge of Willpower descending upon him, crashing into the Pulse Energy he had gathered within the Chaotic Universe. It was like a pond that wasn't full yet, suddenly being disturbed by a large fish—no, more accurately, a whale—plunging down.
Boom—
The immense Willpower mixed with the rolling Pulse Energy fell upon him, and an endless Consciousness spread like a tide, transforming into an infinite ocean. Countless fragmented pieces sliced through and surged into Lu Fei Fan's memory.
"Since it's you, let’s begin," a powerful Consciousness resonated in Lu Fei Fan's mind, echoing through his Ocean of thoughts.
"Begin? Who are you?" Lu Fei Fan retorted within his Consciousness.
"I ask you," the voice did not answer his question. "If there are two doors for you to choose from, one is a broad avenue, bathed in sunlight, calm and bustling, with many people passing through—a wide door..."
Before the voice could finish, Lu Fei Fan interrupted.
"And the other door?"
"The other door is narrow, light cannot penetrate the darkness within. Some darkness does not accept light at all. Yet inside, there are very few people—perhaps only you yourself. At the end of it, you might even face Extinction."
"So if I choose the Sunshine Avenue door, I won't face Extinction?" Lu Fei Fan grasped the essence of what was being said.
"Yes." The Willpower seemed disinterested in elaborating further or guiding Lu Fei Fan; it coldly awaited his choice.
"But what I gain won't be more than others, right?" Lu Fei Fan analyzed calmly.
The voice offered no response, seemingly waiting for Lu Fei Fan's decision.
"If I choose the narrow door, will I gain more than others?"
"Please make your choice." The Consciousness simply tossed this response back to Lu Fei Fan, clearly indicating there was no room for guidance or negotiation.
“If I don’t choose?” Lu Fei Fan said defiantly.
“Then you will only have Extinction,” the voice replied with undeniable certainty.
Lu Fei Fan realized he had no choice but to decide between the two options. Suddenly, he let out a cold laugh, recalling how in his previous life he had detonated a nuclear bomb aboard the Void Battleship, emerging from darkness.
Since he had arrived here, everything seemed destined.
“Alright,” Lu Fei Fan resolved in his heart. “I choose.”
Immediately, a spacious and towering archway appeared before him, dazzling light pouring from behind the door, nearly engulfing Lu Fei Fan's slender figure. He almost couldn’t resist stepping into this grand and wide entrance.
But as the brilliance shone brightly, he noticed a narrow door on the other side of the impressive archway, barely open enough to be overlooked. Yet, Lu Fei Fan caught sight of it.
“Please make your choice,” the Consciousness echoed again.
“Fine, let me see what choice you have for me!” Lu Fei Fan reached out toward the doorframe…
…
Bian Jian’s Chuan Xing Jian plunged into the Giant Cocoon, piercing through it like a white rainbow of light.
As the light flashed past, the patterns on the Giant Cocoon flowed like electric currents, layers of energy cascading over it. Initially, Bian Jian thought this strike would surely lead to death for whatever life resided within the cocoon, but he underestimated it!
With all his strength behind the sword, the Pulse Energy he infused was like a cow sinking into the sea; it was completely absorbed by the Giant Cocoon at a slow pace!
Bian Jian sensed something was wrong with his Consciousness and quickly withdrew his Chuan Xing Jian. However, it felt as if he were stuck in a quagmire; he had to unleash even greater power to pull his sword free from its grasp!
He stumbled back a step, raising the Chuan Xing Jian in his hand. Seeing the dull, lifeless blade, a surge of anger welled up within him.
"Die! Die!" The Chuan Xing Jian in his hand glowed once more, and countless sword shadows surged forth in layers!
Bang! Bang! Bang—
The densely interwoven sword shadows slashed at the Giant Cocoon, leaving behind large patches of shattered light. Yet, the Giant Cocoon remained utterly unmoved, occasionally emitting a deep thudding sound that suggested something inside was about to awaken.
Crack!
A sound of something breaking echoed, and Bian Jian halted with the Chuan Xing Jian in hand, staring in astonishment at the Giant Cocoon.
Yang Beiguo, waiting for the outcome, also heard the sound of something cracking. Could it be that the Giant Cocoon had been destroyed by Bian Jian?
Bian Jian looked at the sudden cracks appearing on the Giant Cocoon and sneered. Even if you are a giant beast, you will still die at my hands! He swung his long sword down with overwhelming force like a massive blade!
Boom!
The Giant Cocoon erupted with an astonishing explosion.
Bian Jian constructed a shield around himself, but the shockwave from the Giant Cocoon's explosion still sent him flying. Even the others from Lian Qingzong in the cave were knocked back, covering their faces as they stumbled.
Debris rained down from the shaking cave. Yang Lao hadn’t even managed to crawl over to Octopus when suddenly, with a rumble, the already trembling cave shook violently again. Octopus hurriedly crawled over, but even faster than him, a massive rock fell from the cave ceiling right above him!
Yang Lao didn’t have time to dodge; he closed his eyes and thought, let it be death.
That was what he thought, but then an energy like flowing light shot toward him—boom!
The boulder shattered, fragments scattering in all directions.
Yang Lao opened his eyes, bewildered by the sudden turn of events.
A hand, enveloped in a faint energy, slowly retracted from the Giant Cocoon with a crunch.
The Giant Cocoon was pried open by two hands, and a figure emerged from within. The cocoon suddenly radiated an astonishing light, blinding everyone present.
Yang Lao felt as if his body had become weightless, effortlessly lifted by someone, shooting out like a beam of light. Octopus A Ba's hand that was entwined with his quickly followed suit.
In the cave, the first to react was Bian Jian. Before the blinding light faded, he caught sight of the figure rushing out—indistinguishable as either human or beast. In shock, he quickly turned around and exclaimed, “Not good, the sword!”
He looked up at the uniquely shaped Double Blade hovering above the Giant Cocoon in the cave.
That sword was still there. He leaped into action; his purpose for coming here was to obtain that sword. The secret of the Tomb of the Giant Whale lay within it, and he could not allow it to escape his grasp.
However, just as his hand reached for the sword, it suddenly exploded with a deafening sound, sending out a terrifying wave of energy that shattered into countless sparkling silver shards!
Yet the sword began to spin, its ancient and unadorned blade still forcing Bian Jian to raise his Consciousness to defend himself.
Clang!
As he landed, barely steadying himself, he watched helplessly as the sword transformed into a shooting star, zipping toward the cave entrance!
“Damn it!” Bian Jian fumed. “Follow me!”
With Pulse Energy surging through him, he propelled himself forward with explosive bursts of sound, revealing just how unwilling he was to let this opportunity slip away. Without holding back any strength, in less than a breath’s time, he left behind several afterimages as he dashed toward the exit in pursuit.
Three remaining Four Symbols Guards exchanged glances with Bai Ling and Hei Ling, acknowledging that their mission here was complete. They quickly retreated to follow Bian Jian.
Lian Qingzong and Jiang Lao stood in stunned silence for a moment. Lian Qingzong sheathed his Greatsword and hurried to the front of the Giant Cocoon, contemplating the shattered structure before him.
"Young Master, look..." Jiang Lao, standing at the cave entrance, pointed outside in shock.
Lian Qingzong rushed to the entrance, witnessing a terrifying scene unfolding.
The previously intact Floating Stone Formation was crumbling, countless floating stones plummeting down and revealing its true form. The ground beneath Lian Qingzong and Jiang Lao was also giving way, exposing what lay beneath.
"What is this..." Jiang Lao had never seen anything so massive.
They were standing at the head of a gigantic Skeleton. In the distance, as stones fell away, it became clear that the passage of the Floating Stone Formation was actually a Golden Vertebra. The stones and dirt covering it turned to dust and cascaded down. Below its vertebrae lay enormous rib bones of the Skeleton. The caves that had once been there were collapsing as well, revealing these gleaming Skeletons.
"This is the true appearance of the Tomb of the Giant Whale!" Lian Qingzong couldn't help but exclaim.
"Young Master, this Golden Skeleton..." Jiang Lao seemed to sense an opportunity for gain.
Lian Qingzong shook his head. "It's too large."
"If we can't have it, we certainly can't let others benefit from it!" Jiang Lao was unwilling to see such a vast fortune become someone else's treasure.
"That's a valid point. Then let's destroy it..." Before he could finish, the Giant Whale Skeleton suddenly released an immense surge of energy, causing countless Insect sounds to erupt from the surrounding forest!
"This is bad; we need to leave quickly!" Lian Qingzong's expression changed as he sensed something was amiss.
The two swiftly departed from the colossal Skeleton and plunged into the forest. Dark clouds gathered ominously above them in mere moments, pressing low against the landscape. Lightning flashed and thunder roared as it intertwined within the clouds. Following this tumultuous display, torrents of rain poured down like countless razors, crashing directly onto the massive Golden Skeleton. This Giant Whale Skeleton was so immense that it extended several kilometers into the distance!
Thunderous lightning struck the massive Golden Skeleton, its power unmatched and overwhelming!
In an instant, the Golden Skeleton shattered into pieces, yet the lightning did not cease. It continued to rain down from the clouds, illuminating the dim world like an apocalyptic scene. Thick, leaden clouds seemed to tear open, and countless beams of golden light cascaded down like divine radiance. This transparent energy, resembling golden drapery, acted like a magnet, drawing in all the severed pieces of the Golden Skeleton.
Lian Qingzong and Jiang Lao stood at a distance, watching this astonishing phenomenon in speechless awe.
Meanwhile, Bian Jian, who was tracking the enemy from afar, suddenly halted. He turned to witness the multitude of lightning strikes followed by holy light breaking through the clouds, absorbing all the severed Giant Whale Golden Skeletons into a swirling void that resembled an upright pupil!
Bian Jian's expression changed dramatically.
“The Holy Grail Eye!”
Countless fragmented Golden Skeletons were drawn into the vortex of that Vertical Eye!
“The Giant Whale Skeleton can actually activate the Holy Grail Eye? Could there be a connection between them? What is happening… how could this be…” Bian Jian was momentarily stunned into silence by his astonishment. However, he could not afford to dwell on it; he had to capture the thing that had stolen his carefully planned treasure over the past decade!
With this thought in mind, he steeled his resolve, grasped his sword tightly, disregarding any thoughts of the Holy Grail Eye. Channeling his Pulse Energy, he propelled himself forward like a cannonball, racing after the thief who had fled into the forest!
