In the center, a surge of energy pierced through the clouds, distinct from the surrounding forces.
It was this energy that disrupted the original balance of power, causing the energy within the clouds to descend into a state of chaotic frenzy, as if the former ruler of this energy had been shattered.
The 'bamboo pole' that broke the stillness came from beneath the clouds. It emanated a peculiar aura, carrying an ancient and primitive essence. Lu Fei Fan's energy senses danced around it, revealing that all surrounding Pulse Energy had been completely absorbed, clearing a vast area around it.
Unable to contain his curiosity, Lu Fei Fan cautiously reached out with his Pulse Energy to touch the force emanating from below the clouds. What he could not anticipate was the overwhelming flood of images that surged forth—flames blazing with intensity, an endless void of darkness, biting coldness, and the violent tides of the sea.
Countless scenes rushed into Lu Fei Fan's mind, accompanied by chaotic images of beasts clashing and fragments of consciousness reflecting the mutation and evolution of plants.
The final image that crystallized in his mind was that of a short, delicate girl lying motionless on a bed of green-veined leaves.
In that instant, it seemed as if the ancient power that had shattered the clouds had taken notice of Lu Fei Fan, the intruder or voyeur.
The force swept over him like a blizzard, scattering him from his distant thoughts as if he were plummeting from above, unable to control his descent in that fleeting moment.
Sitting cross-legged, Lu Fei Fan felt electric sparks erupt around him with a loud crackle. He coughed up a mouthful of blood.
He felt utterly drained, gasping for breath.
Everyone in the Special Operations Team looked at Lu Fei Fan with curiosity.
Qin Qin stared at him, her mouth opening as she struggled to voice her concern.
"What happened?" Da Biao was the first to ask.
The team leader signaled Cai Bi to check on him. However, Lu Fei Fan raised his hand to stop her and shook his head. He focused on circulating his Pulse Breathing Technique and meticulously examined his body several times before confirming that he had not implanted or concealed any retaliatory energy from that ancient force he had glimpsed.
Only then did he feel relieved. He adjusted himself after the chaotic Pulse Energy and inspected his body again, finding no injuries. Instead of suffering losses, he had gained valuable insights.
To others watching, it seemed only a few minutes had passed since all this unfolded.
Lu Fei Fan slowly opened his eyes and uttered a statement that left everyone in disbelief.
"I know where the tribes guarding the Ancient trees are!"
The horsemen and Da Fu exchanged glances, seemingly unable to accept this revelation.
"How can you be so sure? Just because you meditated a moment ago?" Cai Bi asked, genuinely curious.
"I just connected with the sentient trees through the Pulse Breathing Technique and glimpsed where their tree tribes are located," Lu Fei Fan replied, withholding some details. He had no intention of mentioning the chaotic lightning in the clouds above.
"Look," Jiang Yu suddenly interjected.
"The rain in this forest is intentional; the plants are shifting positions every moment. We simply can't perceive it. Each one seems to be moving forward, but in reality, they're just circling around," Lu Fei Fan explained, having discerned this information from the flood of thoughts that had surged into his mind.
"No wonder I always felt like I had seen this place before," Jiang Yu mused, stroking his chin as he recalled the sensations from their journey. This was an instinct that only those with extensive battle experience would possess.
Da Fu Ge nodded in agreement, realizing there was indeed something to it.
"So, this unending rain, even intensifying, is also their doing? How infuriating!" Jiu Ye sat up, scratching his bald head in frustration.
"But this atmosphere..." Qin Qin suddenly looked outside at the torrential downpour, her expression filled with concern.
Lu Fei Fan followed her gaze and looked out at the heavy rain, which obscured everything beyond it.
"This rain is about to stop," Lu Fei Fan remarked as he observed the curtain of rain.
Everyone was taken aback; looking out now, the downpour seemed relentless and dark, suggesting it wouldn't cease anytime soon.
However, the dense storm clouds above began to thin out and weaken compared to before.
The dark clouds began to clear, and the dim colors brightened slightly, like the dawn breaking through the darkness.
The rain gradually weakened, just as Lu Fei Fan had predicted.
Jiu Ye couldn't help but rub his hands together, giving Lu Fei Fan a hearty slap on the back, thinking how accurate this fellow was in his predictions.
"Impressive, my friend! How did you foresee this?" Jiu Ye said with admiration. The heavy rain had left them feeling sluggish after a long night, but now that it had stopped and Lu Fei Fan knew the location of the Forest Tribe, it was undoubtedly good news for them. Unlike other Special Operations Teams, who would likely still be wandering aimlessly outside.
"The issue of the forest maze is up to you," the captain said, patting Lu Fei Fan on the shoulder.
"Got it." After processing those fragments of information, Lu Fei Fan found it quite simple to discern the ancient consciousness altered energies within the forest.
"Are you... okay?" Qin Qin seemed to sense something was off with Lu Fei Fan and asked.
"I'm fine." Lu Fei Fan stared blankly at the forest, lost in thought. Suddenly, he said, "I just have this feeling that we might not be able to participate in this mission."
"Why think so much? Since we're here, we can't leave empty-handed," Da Biao chimed in to comfort him.
Everyone in the camp began to move. It wasn't just them; Lu Fei Fan and the captain also keenly noticed that another Special Operations Team had already set out ahead of them.
After the rain stopped, the forest still retained a misty dampness that made it hard to distinguish between swamps and traps.
Fortunately, with Adi from the Fei Hu Battle Team leading them around a swamp, they discovered some clothing remnants on its surface—clearly left behind by members of a Special Operations Team who had fallen in moments before.
Adi guided them safely past traps and fierce beasts while Lu Fei Fan confirmed landmarks and directions. Their collaboration allowed them to successfully traverse the outer Rainforest and delve deeper into an unfamiliar and ancient part of the woods—definitely an area marked as dangerous on their maps.
Since they couldn't pinpoint their exact location on the map here, its usefulness diminished significantly. Few strong individuals dared to venture into this region; even if there were some, no one would go through the trouble of meticulously mapping out its terrain.
At the same time, another Special Operations Team was advancing forward.
In a clearing of the forest, a figure cloaked entirely in black stood at the center of a chaotic slaughter scene, resembling a deity of death.
Surrounding him were the lifeless bodies of monstrous creatures—three-eyed Monster Snakes as thick as tree trunks, centipedes the size of SUVs, and writhing Tree Vines. Other beasts, adorned with fangs and covered in iron-like scales, lay defeated as well, yet none had survived the wrath of the figure before them.
Behind him, seven or eight team members were meticulously cleaning up the battlefield. Each member held weapons or brandished cold steel as they delivered finishing blows to the fallen corpses.
Li Tiezui, marked by a large black mole on his left cheek, chewed on a toothpick. He removed it from his mouth and spat, using the toothpick to pick at his decaying black teeth.
“Crazy one, it seems you were right,” Li Tiezui remarked as he surveyed the remnants of the exotic beasts scattered across the ground. “The further we advance in the right direction, the more fierce the resistance we encounter. It must mean we are close.”
The cloaked figure nodded in agreement. Li Tiezui then patted him on the shoulder and said, “Don’t worry. As long as we obtain the Source of Life, you’ll ascend to godhood in battle. At that point, no one will dare look down on the Mad God Squad!”
With that, he turned to instruct his team.
“Alright, once we finish cleaning up this battlefield, we’ll move out. Remember to leave some souvenirs for our fellows trailing behind us.” After speaking, Li Tiezui led the Mad God forward.
Hearing their captain's orders, the team members burst into laughter and began burying various items beneath the bodies of the exotic beasts before quickly departing from the scene.
Before long, a Special Operations Team arrived. This unit was well-equipped and comprised about ten members. Their firepower was balanced and appeared to be highly skilled; however, upon witnessing the gruesome scene before them, they were momentarily taken aback.
“Check it out,” their leader commanded.
But as team members began to inspect the corpses of the beasts, suddenly—boom!
A burst of explosive light erupted from beneath those bodies. The deafening blast sent their entire team tumbling over. It wasn’t just one explosion; multiple hidden explosives buried under the remains detonated in succession, engulfing them before they could even utter a cry of regret. In an instant, several towering fireballs soared into the air.
Meanwhile, Li Tiezui and his crazy companion halted in their tracks within the forest. They turned to watch the flames erupting behind them and couldn’t help but shake their heads; had they not been greedy, perhaps they would have avoided such an ambush.
This has always been humanity's greatest flaw that cannot be changed.
Lu Fei Fan and the others in the back also witnessed the astonishing explosion ahead, shaking the ground and causing all the birds and beasts in the Rainforest to take flight in panic, fleeing from the scene.
“Take a detour,” the cavalry decisively issued the command.
Lu Fei Fan and Adi once again searched for an alternate route. Even if they did not take the previously determined shortest path, they could quickly find a new way.
However, they were unaware that someone was watching them from the shadows.
“It’s them.” Hao stood atop a tree, blending in with its colors so seamlessly that it was nearly impossible to distinguish him. Even though Lu Fei Fan extended his Consciousness, the distance was too great for him to sense this cunning Forest Child.
Behind him, the Tree Maiden Yura intertwined her body with the tree using vines.
“Should we make a move?” Yura asked.
“No, something must have happened at home. We need to go back and see what’s going on; otherwise, they might cross the Chorus of the Multitude all at once.” Hao had clearly become more rational, seemingly reluctant to throw away his life for no reason.
“You’ve finally become a bit smarter,” Yura remarked, leaving it unclear whether it was a taunt or a compliment.
