Jiu Ye slammed his thigh and raised his bidding paddle.
"Sixty-nine million!"
The host noticed Jiu Ye's bid from the private booth and announced the increase loudly.
However, this two million raise was hardly enough to suppress the eager big buyers lurking behind.
A wealthy bidder on the third floor raised his hand, prompting the host to amplify his voice.
"One hundred million!"
Gasps echoed throughout the venue.
"One hundred and forty million..."
"One hundred and eighty million..."
The horse team occasionally made bids, but the prices were quickly overshadowed by the buyers behind them. Was their earlier two hundred million investment going to be wasted here?
After more than ten minutes of price competition, it settled at two hundred million.
The horse team slammed their leg and raised their paddle!
"Two hundred and ten million!" they shouted from their booth.
Instantly, the entire venue gasped, all eyes turning toward the horse team.
Even buyers on the second and third floors were staring at this sudden ten million increase from the big spender. The horse team endured immense pressure in hopes of deterring those who might raise their bids again.
But Ice Mulberry Silkworm was too sought after; such a rare treasure would naturally attract many eager bidders.
"Two hundred and twenty million!" A voice rang out from a corner booth, a deep and confident male voice. Everyone turned to look, and in that booth sat a rotund, bald man with a beaming smile. He had one arm wrapped around a voluptuous woman, while his gaze provocatively challenged the bidding team, as if daring them to raise their offer.
"Two hundred and thirty million!" the bidding team responded, gritting their teeth calmly.
Everyone's eyes were on the bidding team and then on the hefty man, hoping he wouldn't raise the stakes again.
However, the bald man seemed unfazed. He continued to caress the woman beside him, signaling for a heavily built bodyguard with an eye patch to raise the bid.
"Two hundred and forty million!" the bodyguard called out.
The bidding team clenched their fists; this price had clearly exceeded their budget. They would even have to dip into their earnings just to keep up.
Just as one of them was about to place another bid, Lu Fei Fan held him back.
"Two hundred and eighty million!" another voice interjected into the bidding war.
The team turned to see a tall, slender man in another booth looking at the bald man while holding up a glass of red wine in acknowledgment.
The bald man squinted at this competitor and muttered, "Some people just don't know when to quit."
"Hey, Fat Fourth Master. You won't be able to use that Ice Mulberry Silkworm anyway; why not let me have it?" The newcomer greeted him generously.
"Gao Hong, you know I only have a few interests. Isn't it a bit much for you to compete with me?" The bald man retorted slyly. "Haven't you heard? A gentleman does not take what others cherish."
"Oh, I've learned something new today." Gao Hong clapped his thighs mockingly. "I truly didn't know that. But luckily for me, I'm not a gentleman." With that, he wore a smug grin.
"Hmph." The bald man snorted coldly and gestured for his bodyguard to continue. "Keep buying for me."
"Two hundred and ninety million!" The auctioneer's voice trembled with excitement as he observed their renewed bidding.
"Three hundred thirty million!" Gao Hong stood up to negotiate.
"You..." Fat Fourth Master suddenly looked flustered, but he hesitated to raise the price again.
"What's wrong? Fat Fourth Master, not going to raise it anymore?" Gao Hong shook his wine glass and squinted at the fat man, as if he could see through his thoughts.
"Fine! I'll raise it!" The fat man slapped his thigh. "Three hundred fifty million!"
At this moment, Gao Hong stood up and stopped raising the bid. He shook his head in regret and said, "I can't compete with you, Fat Fourth Master."
"Three hundred fifty million, deal!" The host struck the gavel decisively, letting out a sigh as if the dust had settled.
Fat Fourth Master’s face turned pale. He pushed away the seductive singer in his arms and awkwardly got off the expensive leather chair, muttering, "Gao Hong, you scoundrel, remember this!"
Growing more furious, he slammed his hand down on the table in the private room, causing a loud crash.
Perhaps it was the sound of waiters trying to calm him down that reached their ears, along with Fei Si's desperate shouts.
"I'll pay! Is that enough?"
The farce came to an end, and so did the auction. The crowd quickly dispersed like birds taking flight.
Ma's team leaned against the railing of the booth, watching the auction conclude. They felt disheartened and frustrated, with Ma delivering a final slap against the surface in a display of unwillingness.
The other members of the Fei Hu Battle Team were also in low spirits, collectively appearing somewhat dejected.
"Captain, what about you all..." Lu Fei Fan tentatively asked.
"Nothing. Let's go," Ma seemed reluctant to say more.
As everyone exited the private room, they happened to see the Fat Fourth Master of Ice Mulberry Silkworm negotiating with the security personnel of White Pearl in the corridor, accompanied by a group of bodyguards.
Upon spotting this boorish figure, the horse team moved forward.
The one-eyed security chief responsible for Fei Si was the first to notice the horse team. He raised his hand to block the seemingly hostile captain.
“Hello, Fat Fourth Master,” the captain said as he bypassed the one-eyed man. The one-eyed man attempted to turn and grab him, but was stopped by Da Fu Ge, while his other security personnel were also intercepted one by one by Jiu Ye, Qin Qin, and Da Biao.
Seeing the standoff between both sides, Fei Si felt a sense of foreboding and quickly slipped behind the White Pearl's security personnel.
“Sir, this is White Pearl,” the leader of the security team tried to warn both parties.
The one-eyed man glared at Da Fu Ge with icy eyes. “No one has ever dared to confront me like this!”
“Fourth Master, we mean no harm,” the captain of the horse team reassured him, signaling for him to relax. He stopped his aggressive advance and called out from a distance, “I only have one humble request!”
“What humble request?” the Fat Fourth Master shouted from behind his bodyguards.
“I would like to ask you to transfer Ice Mulberry Silkworm to us!” the captain declared.
“Sure,” Fei Si replied readily, but his next words doused Lu Fei Fan and the others with cold water. “Just bring five hundred million.”
The captain's expression immediately darkened; it was clear that Fei Si was making things difficult for him and would not easily agree to this deal.
“Fourth Master, we came to you in good faith,” the captain said, looking at Fei Si earnestly.
“No money, no talk,” Fei Si replied impatiently, waving his hand dismissively as if to shoo them away.
The one-eyed man also began to pressure Da Fu Ge and his companions to leave, indicating that there could be trouble if they did not comply.
“Is two hundred million enough?” the horse team sincerely requested.
Fei Si didn’t respond, merely waving his hand without even looking at them.
“Get lost!” the one-eyed dragon glared at Da Fu, “or we won’t hold back!”
“Don’t be so arrogant!” Jiu Ye shouted back defiantly, “we’re not afraid of you.”
“Sir, this is ‘White Pearl’!” the security captain reminded them, quickly contacting the ship's security team through his communicator. Before long, a line of fully uniformed and armed security personnel appeared on both sides of the corridor, watching them closely. If these two groups caused trouble here, the armed guards would immediately subdue them and blacklist them; no cruise ship would accept them again unless they paid to clear their record.
“Fourth Master, consider it a favor owed to the Fei Hu Battle Team, will you?” the horse team pleaded once more.
“Hmph, are you here to make jokes? You come to me for business without money? I’m a businessman, not a good Samaritan; I don’t engage in losing deals.” Fei Si looked at them with disdain; he particularly loathed these unskilled mercenaries.
With a sigh, the horse team turned to leave. It was clear that being forceful on this ship was unwise. Da Fu Ge called out to Jiu Ye, and they both turned to exit together.
One of the bodyguards sneered and reached out to grab Qin Qin’s backside. In response, she swiftly kicked him in the leg, breaking his bone. She glared fiercely at the would-be assailant and coldly warned, “If you touch me, I’ll send you straight to Yan Luo!”
Other bodyguards and the one-eyed dragon attempted to intervene, but Lu Fei Fan stood in front of them. He looked up at the one-eyed dragon, who stared back. To his surprise, he saw no hint of fear in the other’s eyes; someone so young yet so fearless could either be incredibly brave or simply courting death.
“Please restrain yourselves; this is White Pearl!” the cruise ship's security shouted again, hoping to prevent further escalation.
Fei Si impatiently signaled for his subordinates to avoid causing trouble. The one-eyed dragon understood and stepped aside, allowing Qin Qin and Lu Fei Fan to leave safely.
“Indeed a hot potato,” Gao Hong observed from a distance with a group of security personnel. He smiled and walked away from the trouble surrounding Fei Si.
The atmosphere among the Special Operations Team was oddly tense and unusually silent. Even Qin Qin remained quiet; several times she wanted to say something to Lu Fei Fan but held back.
“The proceeds from this auction have been deposited into each account,” the horse team said dejectedly while operating a virtual tablet. Each person’s account had increased by over thirty million.
“Captain, are we really just going to let the Ice Mulberry Silkworm be bought right in front of us?” Jiu Ye was the first to express his dissatisfaction.
“This time it appeared, it will surely appear again,” Da Fu Ge reassured everyone.
“There’s no market for it!” Da Biao said, feeling somewhat dejected.
“Why don’t we just steal it?” Jiu Ye suggested through gritted teeth, determined to take action.
“Many people know about our earlier conflict with Fei Si. If we try to steal the Ice Mulberry Silkworm, it will clearly be blamed on us,” Da Fu Ge calmly analyzed. “At that point, we wouldn’t just become enemies of the Commerce Alliance; we would also be enemies of the Cruise Alliance. It’s not worth the risk.”
“But we can’t just watch them take the Ice Mulberry Silkworm away!” Jiu Ye slammed his fist on the table. “Jiang Yu is still…”
The horse team stared out the window, lost in their thoughts and silent.
Lu Fei Fan had guessed something; this matter was likely related to Jiang Yu.
However, he didn’t dare to tell the others that the Ice Mulberry Silkworm belonged to him!
At that moment, his communicator beeped with a notification. He sneaked a glance and his pupils dilated slightly.
A massive sum of money had been deposited into his account, making him take a deep breath.
