Boom!
Two figures collided, creating a dazzling explosion of energy that radiated outward.
In the darkness of night, they appeared as two brilliant beams of light clashing in mid-air, sending shockwaves through the wilderness. The beasts of the Gobi scattered in fear; never before had two figures engaged in such a fierce battle above the ground.
Although Yu Lao was not at his peak with his Pulse Energy, the age-old adage held true: a lean camel is larger than a horse.
Even if Lu Fei Fan summoned all his Pulse Energy to fight back, without the aid of the Gods' Armor and Feathered Wings to enhance his speed, he felt like an egg striking a rock before Yu Lao.
Boom—
In mid-air, the two collided again. As they rebounded from each other, both figures dimmed significantly.
Lu Fei Fan was nearing exhaustion; the Pulse Energy surrounding him was chaotic and disordered from the impact. Yu Lao's Pulse Energy was like an iron wall, each collision felt as if his flesh and blood were crashing against a steel beast—leaving him battered and bruised.
Yet he did not retreat. Blood seeped from every pore in his body, and even his wings had dimmed considerably. The Silver Sparrow in his hand still glowed faintly.
His breath came in ragged waves, but he continued to flap his wings, hovering defiantly as he faced Yu Lao, who floated opposite him.
"Hmph!" Yu Lao was somewhat surprised. This young man seemed to lack the experience of a seasoned fighter, yet he had already reached the level of a top elite. Given more time, he would undoubtedly break through to General.
However, Yu Lao had no intention of granting him that time.
"Come again!"
With the Tie Sha in hand, Yu Lao charged forward.
Lu Fei Fan met him head-on with his blade!
Bang! Bang!
Once more, two fierce beams of light collided in mid-air. The terrifying clash of Pulse Energy sent shivers down the spine of anyone who witnessed it.
The two of them pulled apart once more.
Lu Fei Fan's Silver Sparrow War Blade was now barely glowing with a few remnants of Pulse Energy, while Yu Lao's Pulse Energy black mist remained abundant around him, effortlessly surrounding his figure. Dealing with a low-level Fu Cai Niao was more than sufficient for him.
Lu Fei Fan's injuries had multiplied; several wounds were bleeding, and he could feel pain in his ribs, shoulders, and thighs from Yu Lao's strikes. He could no longer tell if they were broken or intact—he simply couldn't perceive it anymore. In the little remaining void of stored energy within him, the two suns that had once shone brightly were now reduced to just one.
Were those flickering stars a warning of his impending exhaustion?
Lu Fei Fan looked up; the chaotic darkness obscured any view of the starry sky. Would he return through this starry expanse if he were to perish in battle this time?
It was an impractical and absurd thought, fleeting as it was.
"Child!" Yu Lao suddenly called out.
Lu Fei Fan flapped his wings, standing apart from Yu Lao in the air, but he did not respond.
"As long as you hand over that Shui Que, I can guarantee your survival!" Yu Lao declared.
Lu Fei Fan let out a cold laugh; it was truly the same old line. Why were villains always so childish? If they wanted to fight, then fight; if they wanted to kill, then kill—why waste words? With that thought, he chuckled darkly, allowing blood from an unknown source to stain half of his face.
"To be able to fight me like this, you would be worthy of cultivation by any major family or force wherever you go," Yu Lao said sincerely. "Don’t think my leniency is due to my inability to find Shui Que. Hmph! If you continue to be so stubborn, I wouldn't mind sending you on your way right now!"
"Hahahaha—" Lu Fei Fan suddenly burst into laughter, too intense for him to handle as it triggered a fit of coughing. He coughed up several mouthfuls of blood and raised his head, responding with a bloodied grin, "Ridiculous!"
"You!" Yu Lao was taken aback, the slap in the face from such a reaction igniting his anger.
"You are digging your own grave!" Yu Lao roared, the black mist swirling violently as it surged forward.
Lu Fei Fan activated all of his Pulse Energy in the Silver Sparrow and vibrated his Feathered Wings defiantly to meet the oncoming attack.
Boom!
Yu Lao's Tie Sha manifested into countless afterimages, raining down like torrential raindrops. Each strike bore immense force, a storm unleashed without restraint, leaving Lu Fei Fan gasping for breath under the pressure.
Lu Fei Fan adopted a strategy of exchanging injuries, landing several hits on Silver Sparrow, yet Yu Lao remained unfazed, not even letting out a grunt.
"Show me what you've got!" Yu Lao bellowed, intensifying his assault with Tie Sha as Wooden Stakes flew out in all directions.
Lu Fei Fan's Zhan Dao shimmered with layers of light; even his exquisite combat skills appeared feeble before Yu Lao.
"You’re one of the better fighters I've seen!" Amidst the relentless onslaught, Yu Lao offered a rare compliment. However, this only fueled his determination to eliminate Lu Fei Fan. He believed that if such a person were allowed to live and grow stronger, they could become a threat. He had no intention of being a stepping stone for the rise of the younger generation.
He aimed to eradicate the root!
"Die!"
The tempestuous assault unleashed violent tremors. At first, Lu Fei Fan managed to withstand it, but soon he found himself unable to cope with Yu Lao's all-encompassing barrage. The Pulse Energy rained down upon him like a hailstorm, exploding against his body.
When they finally separated, Yu Lao stood proudly in mid-air, looking down at the overconfident young man as if he were nothing more than an insignificant insect.
In this era, countless individuals like him had perished at Yu Lao's hands without anyone shedding a tear—Berg was one such example, and now this young man would join him, along with the exceptionally talented Shui Que.
Inside Lu Fei Fan's chest cavity, the chaotic Pulse Energy surged like a raging serpent. Unable to contain it any longer, he coughed up a mist of blood. His Feathered Wings lost balance, and his body plummeted straight toward the ground!
Just as he was about to crash into the earth, an invisible force caught him and gently lowered him down.
Dressed in a form-fitting Qipao, Shui Que extended her hand to channel energy and touched Lu Fei Fan's unconscious face. "If only you had met me before I fell in love with someone else."
With that, she slipped something into Lu Fei Fan's pocket and tidied up his disheveled clothes. Then she raised her hand and pushed him into the invisible space behind her.
Standing in the wilderness, she faced Yu Lao as he descended to confront her.
"You're just in time. Saves me the trouble of looking for you," Yu Lao remarked, eyeing Lu Fei Fan being pushed away by Shui Que's unseen power. He didn’t mind her actions; wasting energy on someone near death was hardly worth it.
"We need to settle this," Shui Que said coldly as she glared at him.
"Hmph." Yu Lao chuckled darkly but refrained from boasting. Shui Que’s aura seemed significantly stronger than when he had tracked her earlier. He realized that his prolonged battle with that insect had drained much of his Pulse Energy. Calculating in his mind, he felt uncertain about his ability to completely eliminate Shui Que.
Shui Que's figure swelled as energy slowly radiated from her. The crystal hovering around her neck suddenly shattered, and countless streams of water began to move like living creatures around her.
"Seeking death!" Yu Lao had no intention of giving Shui Que a chance to prepare. He launched a sudden ambush.
Shui Que couldn't afford to hesitate. With a powerful push, the water exploded towards Yu Lao, creating a stunning collision. Water splashed and vibrated, transforming into layers of mist that dissipated into the air.
"Haha, without water, let's see how you handle this!" Seeing his goal achieved, Yu Lao's confidence surged. He struck the ground with his hand, sending Pulse Energy deep underground.
The ground trembled with a rumbling sound—
Tree trunks burst forth from the earth. Shui Que quickly jumped left and right to evade them while gathering a circle of mist back into her hands. She refined it into water, which she then condensed into ice spike projectiles, launching them at Yu Lao!
Yu Lao's Tie Sha shattered them with loud bangs as he soared into the air.
Boom!
The two were once again separated. Yu Lao stumbled, coughing up blood, while Shui Que glanced down at her thigh, where fresh blood was seeping from her wound.
Seeing Shui Que's injury still bleeding and not healing, Yu Lao couldn't help but smile darkly.
"Don't you want to check on that figure you pushed away?" Shui Que suddenly gasped in shock and turned her head to look behind her, realizing that Lu Fei Fan's figure had vanished without a trace!
But in that moment of surprise as she turned back, she gave Yu Lao the opportunity to strike.
Yu Lao approached like a ghost, and the Giant Trees crashed down towards Shui Que like cannon fire. However, Shui Que rolled on the ground and raised her hand to immediately construct a Water Shield!
Bang bang—
The Water Shield transformed into blades, shredding the descending wood into splinters.
Yu Lao's Tie Sha followed closely behind as Shui Que met it with an open palm. The clash echoed across the desolate Gobi like metal striking metal.
Yet no one knew that this was the renewed life-and-death duel of the Top War General!
Lu Fei Fan, having lost the strength to pull himself away from the battlefield, fell onto a desolate patch of land. He had completely lost consciousness, and the Gods' Armor behind him had retracted the Feathered Wings. Whether it was damaged remained unknown.
His entire skeletal structure had suffered severe trauma. If a professional medical team were to examine him, they would find broken bones and torn ligaments throughout his body, and it would not be an exaggeration to say that his internal organs were also damaged.
It was a miracle that he was still alive; engaging in such a brutal battle where injuries were exchanged was nothing short of madness.
Unbeknownst to Lu Fei Fan, Shui Que was locked in a fierce battle with Yu Lao. Within his Void Chaos, all of his Pulse Energy had been extinguished, and even the power of a star had been completely consumed.
He felt as though he had been dragged into a whirlpool. No matter how hard he struggled, he could not break free; he could only be drawn into it, unable to move, as if his body were filled with lead, heavy and cumbersome.
Most distressingly, he sank into the chaos of consciousness.
What he did not realize was that his body was undergoing strange and bizarre changes in the wilderness. His arm seemed to split open, swiftly projecting a Metal Ball that emitted a whirring sound.
From it emerged an eye-like light orb that first projected a Light Screen sweeping over Lu Fei Fan's body. It ultimately produced two data models: one white at eighteen percent and one red at eighty-two percent.
Finally, it retracted the scanned data Light Screen along with the orb-like eye. It had no choice but to initiate an emergency protocol…
