Chapter Two
"Wait, how exactly are you going to help me?" I stared intently at the massive beast before me, my voice trembling.
"Don't be afraid, trust me!" The voice of Odyssey echoed in my mind. "I've analyzed the weaknesses of this creature; it fears fire!"
"Fears fire?" I paused for a moment. "But I don't have any fire!"
"Your lighter!" Odyssey reminded me.
It suddenly dawned on me that I indeed had a lighter in my backpack.
Shaking, I pulled the lighter out and pressed the switch. A faint flame flickered in the darkness.
Upon seeing the flame, the beast let out a terrified roar and turned to flee.
"Quick, chase it!" Odyssey exclaimed excitedly. "While it's down, take its life!"
I hesitated for a moment but decided to pursue it.
Although I was terrified, Odyssey's words gave me immense encouragement.
As I chased after it, I used the lighter to ward off the beast.
The creature was incredibly fast, and I struggled to keep up.
"Hang in there!" Odyssey encouraged. "We're almost there!"
"Almost where?" I gasped, breathless.
"Orc Territory!"
I was momentarily stunned before realizing that Odyssey intended to use this giant beast to take me to Orc Territory.
"Isn't this too risky?" I couldn't help but complain.
"Fortune favors the bold!" Odyssey's voice was filled with excitement. "Trust me, this is the quickest way!"
I gritted my teeth and continued to chase after it.
Finally, I spotted an open area ahead, where some crude wooden huts stood.
"This is it!" Odyssey exclaimed excitedly. "Orc Territory!"
I stopped, looking at the scene before me, my heart filled with apprehension.
"What do we do next?" I asked.
"We wait for the giant beast to get closer, and then..." Odyssey's voice suddenly paused. "Oh no, we have a situation!"
Before I could react, a cacophony of noise erupted from the wooden huts.
A group of Beast-headed Humanoids burst out from the huts, wielding various weapons.
"It's the Orcs!" Odyssey shouted. "Run!"
I turned and fled, but the Orcs were much faster than I was and quickly closed in on me.
"What should we do?" I shouted in despair.
"Don't worry, I have a plan!" The voice of Odyssey suddenly became calm. "Activate the Recreational Vehicle transformation!"
I immediately followed Odyssey's instructions and activated the transformation feature of the Recreational Vehicle.
In an instant, the Recreational Vehicle transformed into a Balance Bike. I jumped on and quickly sped away.
The beastmen were hot on my heels, but I pushed myself to accelerate and finally shook them off.
"Phew..." I let out a long breath, feeling completely drained.
"Well done!" Odyssey's voice was filled with praise. "You reacted quickly!"
I managed a wry smile; if it weren't for Odyssey's help, I would have been caught by the beastmen long ago.
"Next, we need to complete our first task," Odyssey said. "We need to collect Orc Fur."
"But how are we supposed to collect it?" I asked. "We can't go back, can we?"
"Of course not," Odyssey replied with a mysterious smile. "I already have a solution."
"What solution?"
"Do you see those hairs on the ground?"
I looked down and indeed saw some black fur scattered across the ground.
"These are..."
"The fur of the beastmen," Odyssey explained. "It fell off while they were chasing you."
I suddenly realized that Odyssey had planned this all along.
I immediately got out of the vehicle and began collecting the fur from the ground.
"Collection complete!" Odyssey's voice echoed in my mind. "The first task is finished!"
A wave of joy surged through me; I hadn't expected to complete the first task so smoothly.
"Congratulations!" Odyssey's voice was filled with delight. "You have earned a chance to draw a lottery!"
"A lottery?" I asked curiously. "What can I win?"
"Various rewards," Odyssey explained. "For example, high-level equipment, rare items, and so on."
"Then what are we waiting for?" I said excitedly. "Let's draw the lottery!"
"Wait," Odyssey said. "Don't rush. I detect an Energy Fluctuation ahead..."
