Shen Qing maintained a composed demeanor in front of others while secretly investigating Lin Yue.

Shen Qing cautiously approached the manor and hid in a concealed corner, peering through a crack in the window to spy inside.
She saw flickering candlelight within; Lin Yue was engaged in a low conversation with a man clad in black robes, his expression stern and cold.
As Shen Qing focused her gaze, she realized it was none other than Zhao Xi, Lin Yue's husband from her previous life.
"How are preparations coming along?" Zhao Xi's voice was deep and hoarse.
Lin Yue frowned slightly, her expression tinged with urgency as she replied, "Everything is proceeding according to plan, but it seems that Shen Qing has caught on to something recently. I'm worried she might ruin our grand scheme."
Zhao Xi let out a cold laugh.
"Hmph, just a little girl. What kind of storm can she stir up? But you must be careful; do not let her catch any leverage against us. Once our plan succeeds, the Chancellor's Residence and the entire court will be ours for the taking."
Shen Qing felt a jolt of shock. While she had suspected that Lin Yue was plotting something significant, she never imagined it would involve the Chancellor's Residence and the court. This realization made her aware that the situation was far more serious than she had anticipated.
Suppressing her astonishment, she continued to listen intently, trying to gather more useful information.
"What about His Highness the Crown Prince? Recently, he seems to be getting quite close to Shen Qing. If he senses anything, it could be detrimental to us."
Lin Yue's face showed concern.
Zhao Xi scoffed dismissively.
"What of the Crown Prince? He is currently bogged down with court affairs and can hardly take care of himself. Besides, our plan is flawless; he won't notice anything amiss. You just need to win over the Chancellor's heart and make him act according to our wishes."
As Shen Qing listened to their conversation, she pondered silently.
Just as she was about to sneak away, a black cat suddenly leaped across the rooftop, letting out a sharp "meow," which alerted the people inside.
"Who’s out there?"
Zhao Xi shouted sharply and rushed out to investigate.
Shen Qing cursed her luck inwardly. She looked around frantically but found no place to hide. Her heart raced as cold sweat trickled down her forehead; in her panic, she realized there was no escape route in sight.
At that moment, Shen Qing regretted her recklessness and carelessness. She had only wanted to uncover the truth but never expected to find herself in such a dire situation. Her mind went blank as she wondered if this was how her life would end.
Just when it seemed all hope was lost, a shadow descended silently from a nearby tree like a ghost. The figure was cloaked in dark attire, moving swiftly and nimbly.
In an instant, he reached out, grabbed Shen Qing, and turned to flee.
Zhao Xi searched around outside, but all he saw was a Black Cat jumping down from the roof, a mouse in its mouth. It let out a "meow" before scampering away.
Frowning, he found no traces of anyone having been there and could only speculate that perhaps he was overreacting.
The man in black ran with Shen Qing until he was sure no one was pursuing them, then finally stopped.
Shen Qing gasped for breath, looking up at the man in black with gratitude and confusion in her eyes.
"Thank you for saving my life, kind sir. I am deeply grateful."
The man in black fell silent for a moment before speaking in a low, hoarse voice.
"Miss Shen, you should not have been involved in this dangerous conflict. Consider today a lesson; do not act so recklessly in the future."
Though Shen Qing had many questions in her heart, she understood that this was not the time to ask. She nodded and replied, "I will remember your words, kind sir."
After Shen Qing returned to the Chancellor's Residence, the man in black arrived at a luxurious manor.
"Your Highness, I have made a significant discovery today," he reported.
The man in black was Zhao Yi, the Personal Bodyguard of the Crown Prince.
Kneeling on one knee, Zhao Yi spoke with a serious expression.
Xiao Tianming was sitting in his study, looking over some letters on the table. Upon hearing Zhao Yi's voice, he lifted his head and responded in a low tone.
"Speak up. What have you discovered?"
"Your Highness, I followed Zhao Xi today and found that he is secretly colluding with Lin Yue. Their plans likely involve the Chancellor's Residence as well."
Xiao Tianming's gaze sharpened instantly as he fixed his eyes on Zhao Yi and asked, "Oh?"
Zhao Yi hesitated for a moment before continuing, "Today, I discovered another matter. Miss Shen actually followed Lin Yue to their meeting place. If I hadn't arrived in time, Miss Shen might have been in grave danger."
Xiao Tianming listened quietly, and the coldness on his face softened slightly as the corners of his mouth lifted in what seemed to be surprise at Shen Qing's boldness, or perhaps admiration for her courage.
"Zhao Yi, arrange for some people to secretly protect this true daughter of the the Shen Family. Ensure her safety at all costs. I want to see what actions she will take next."
"Yes, Your Highness. I will make the arrangements immediately."
"Wait."
Xiao Tianming called him back.
"This matter must not alarm the snake. Continue to closely monitor the Second Prince and Lin Yue's every move, gathering more solid evidence. I will not allow anyone to disrupt the stability of this court."
"Yes, I will obey!" Zhao Yi replied before quietly withdrawing.
