Guan Qingmo fought for eight hours in the operating room, but ultimately, the rescue efforts failed, and he was pronounced dead on the spot.
Guan Li, overwhelmed by grief, suffered a relapse of his old illness and was soon rushed into the operating room for emergency treatment. His condition was even worse; shortly after entering, the doctors delivered grim news, issuing a Critical Condition Notice. This situation was entirely expected, as Guan Li had recently undergone a rescue operation and had just been discharged from the hospital, only to face a series of devastating blows.
Though his unappreciated legitimate wife had passed away long ago, Guan Qingmo was still his legitimate grandson. The sudden car accident that took his life left Guan Li with no time to prepare or catch his breath.
Guan Su Lin's expression was grim. The orders he had issued were clear: capture and imprison, not to kill Guan Qingmo recklessly. Realizing something, he turned sharply to fix his gaze on Tan Yan, who sat in the corner trying to blend in as much as possible.
Guan Su Lin strode forward and removed Tan Yan's Blindfold Sunglasses.
The silence was suffocating, dark and hollow.
As he stared at Tan Yan, a sudden laugh escaped him. He lowered his voice: "You think you've won for sure, knowing the contents of the will? That's why you dared to brazenly kill Guan Qingmo and push Guan Li to his limits, right?"
Tan Yan looked innocent: "What does this have to do with me? Your words are a bit strange."
Guan Su Lin replied coldly: "Instead of worrying about my family, you should focus on finding Zheng Mengni. She’s not here with me; she’s gone—missing."
Tan Yan held back: "Take care of yourself first."
After leaving the hospital, Asen hurriedly urged them both to get into the car. There were wanted notices everywhere; the police were actively searching for Guan Su Lin's kidnapped fiancée.
Ye Bing spoke softly to reassure them: "Don't be afraid; I can send you back home." His pallor from blood loss made his skin look somewhat sickly pale, yet his bright eyes still shone with clarity, inexplicably providing a sense of comfort and trust.
Zheng Mengni shook her head: "No, I need to go back."
Ye Bing paused: "Oh? Do you want to continue with the engagement or something?"
Zheng Mengni smiled gently: "After preparing for so long, it would be a pity not to see the final outcome with my own eyes."
Ye Bing pondered for a moment before responding with a bright smile: "Then I respect your decision." He instructed Asen: "Take her back to the Guan Family."
Ye Bing opened the car door for Zheng Mengni, shielding her head with his hand as she entered before following her inside.
"You seem to be curious about nothing," Zheng Mengni suddenly said.
Ye Bing responded gently, "For example, what could I be curious about?"
When I called you just now, you didn't deny it. I should have guessed correctly, right?
Ye Bing chuckled lightly, "Surprisingly, yes, you guessed right."
As he finished speaking, Zheng Mengni reached out and pinched his face with considerable force, leaving red marks.
"Ouch!"
Ye Bing covered his face, his smile growing more pronounced. He hadn't changed; he was still as ruthless as before, completely unreserved even towards his savior.
Zheng Mengni withdrew her hand and sat up straight beside him. "Sorry, I just wanted to see if it was real."
Ye Bing looked a bit confused. "What do you mean by real?"
As he spoke, he noticed Zheng Mengni's gaze gradually drifting downward.
Ye Bing's body began to stiffen; his neck felt unresponsive, unable to follow Zheng Mengni's line of sight.
He froze, his face starting to heat up.
"I really am," Ye Bing instinctively said, closing his legs. "No need to test it personally here."
Zheng Mengni replied with a simple "Oh."
What did that expression of disappointment and regret mean?
In truth, if she wanted to test it, it wouldn't be impossible; it just seemed too frivolous and improper to spread his legs for someone he had just met.
Ye Bing nervously lowered his gaze.
When he realized the tension in the air, his expression grew more complex.
Tension—this was what it felt like: racing heart, tingling limbs, and disordered breathing.
Ye Bing disliked silence and decided to change the subject. "Are you going back later?"
Zheng Mengni nodded. "I need to."
Ye Bing looked at her earnestly. "Do you want to go together? I can give you a ride."
Zheng Mengni smiled gently, "If it's on the way, then I can."
