Guan Su Lin had a good idea of what was happening; Zheng Mengni had confronted Tan Yan. It seemed that someone had successfully stirred up trouble, and now another person was eager to take revenge.
Tsk. It was all too easy, making it rather uninteresting.
After several days of continuous reports, the narrative finally shifted. However, Guan Su Lin's phone remained unanswered. He had been taken in for questioning by the police and had given multiple statements at the station.
Finally, a week later, in the evening, Guan Su Lin returned to the old house, looking weary and far from his usual polished self; his complexion appeared somewhat pale.
Guan Li was the first to greet him. His health had deteriorated further, and he looked even more haggard than Guan Su Lin, who hadn’t slept well for days.
"Why didn’t you contact us during such a big incident? Do you need me to step in and help you settle things?"
Guan Su Lin took off his outer coat and handed it to a servant, offering a gentle smile. "No, it’s all been handled. I caused my father worry; that’s my fault."
Guan Li's expression turned serious. "Your business is growing larger, but who can predict the treachery of the market? Lin Er, you must remain vigilant at all times and not fall for petty tricks."
"I understand."
Watching this scene of fatherly affection, Guan Qingmo felt a pang of discomfort. His father didn’t dare to speak up at all; he couldn’t fathom how such a weak character could have fathered him. Fortunately, he hadn’t inherited that cowardice.
Just because his father was silent didn’t mean he would be.
Guan Qingmo stepped forward with a sarcastic tone. "Grandfather, you’re not taking care of your health and are still worrying about Uncle’s affairs. He’s an adult; how could he be so easily schemed against? Perhaps it’s just that Uncle was careless and didn’t pay attention during the inspections, which led to his exposure."
Guan Li's face flushed red with anger as he glared at him. "Impudent! How dare you speak to your elder like that? Adults should not meddle in affairs of children."
Faced with Guan Li’s blatant favoritism and protection of his son, Guan Yao was unfazed; she immediately stepped in to defend her child.
"The child doesn’t understand; please don’t hold it against A Mo. He only spoke out of concern for your health."
Guan Li was frustrated. "Lin Er is only a year older than him; how could he possibly understand more?"
Guan Yao lowered her head. "I’m not as good at raising my child as you are, Father; after all, A Mo was raised by you and shares your ways."
Guan Li's expression darkened further. "Those with intent don’t need teaching; those without intent cannot be taught. Have I not invested enough thought into A Mo over the years?"
Guan Su Lin naturally stepped in to mediate. "Let’s just calm down; we’re family after all. It’s just a misunderstanding—there’s no need to take it too seriously."
Guan Yao picked up the conversation and smoothly followed the lead, quickly pulling Guan Qingmo, who was still barking like a dog, back.
Once everyone settled down, Guan Su Lin took the initiative to grab a cup and poured tea for Guan Li, while also pulling Zheng Mengni closer to him.
Guan Su Lin presented the tea with a smile, saying, "Thank you, Father, for taking such good care of Zheng Zheng while I was away."
Zheng Mengni smiled gently, leaning affectionately against Guan Su Lin, doing her best to play the role of a perfect girlfriend.
The warm scene brought much comfort to Guan Li, who remarked, "This child is truly a relief."
Guan Su Lin suddenly laughed, his eyes filled with happiness. "I am also lucky to have met such a wonderful girl like Zheng Zheng."
The father and son rarely had the chance to sit together and chat about heartwarming family matters. Zheng Mengni listened attentively from the side, providing just the right emotional support.
