It was Guan Su Lin who posted the updates, not her. It was Guan Su Lin who started the romance, not her. Even in the photos, it was Guan Su Lin reaching out to embrace him; she never hugged that Jian Ren at all! As for the heart emojis, she sent them to every friend, which certainly doesn’t prove that Guan Su Lin is special!
So what if they were together? It still couldn’t stand in the light of day. Xiao Ni didn’t say she was in a relationship, which means she wasn’t dating! It was Guan Su Lin who was being overly sentimental, willingly deluding herself. It wasn’t Xiao Ni who betrayed him, it wasn’t!
Wei Jingxi didn’t dare to call Zheng Mengni, fearing she would hear him crying and he wouldn’t know how to explain. Instead, he took a picture of his recent homework, specifically choosing a page where he had the highest accuracy and his handwriting looked the best, and sent it to Zheng Mengni.
“Homework is so hard; can you teach me when you have time?”
He barely waited two seconds before Zheng Mengni replied: “All correct, do I still need to teach you?”
Wei Jingxi cried even harder: “Yes!!”
Zheng Mengni replied confidently: “Send me what you can’t do. Goodnight.”
Wei Jingxi quickly sent back “Okay” and “Goodnight,” along with the cutest sticker he had stolen from Zheng Mengni. He leaned down and kissed his phone screen, tears streaming down his face as he thought that Xiao Ni still cared about him; otherwise, why would she reply to him so quickly?
Meanwhile, Guan Su Lin lounged on the sofa with her legs crossed, enjoying the flood of compliments in the comments section. Without exception, they praised how well-matched she and Wei Jingxi were, wishing them happiness and a long-lasting relationship. Suddenly, Guan Su Lin squinted her eyes and froze, her gaze lingering on one comment for a long time.
It was a minute ago when Wei Jingxi commented: “Heart.” The bright red emoji lay on the screen, oddly conspicuous and hard to ignore.
Unfortunately, his comment happened to be right under Zheng Mengni's. With two identical heart emojis, anyone who didn't know might think they were flirting. Guan Su Lin wore a half-smile, pretending to be innocent as he held his phone out in front of Zheng Mengni.
To his surprise, Zheng Mengni, who was looking down at her phone, instinctively turned the screen away, trying to hide it as if afraid he would peek. Guan Su Lin raised an eyebrow, his gaze deep and mysterious, a sinister smile playing at the corners of his mouth. Damn it, he shouldn't have worn two hats in one day.
Zheng Mengni patted her chest and frowned slightly. "You scared me."
Guan Su Lin chuckled softly, "My bad, my bad."
"What’s going on?"
Guan Su Lin pointed out Wei Jingxi's comment to Zheng Mengni. "Look, what does it mean that he replied with a heart? Could it be that he has a crush on me?"
Zheng Mengni nodded seriously. "Maybe."
She held her breath for a moment, feeling a bit resentful that Guan Su Lin hadn’t blocked him. Guan Su Lin carefully analyzed Zheng Mengni's tone and after a while, he suddenly realized and exclaimed, "Oh no! It’s my fault! If you're in love, you should confess early to prevent these little people from harboring improper thoughts."
Zheng Mengni understood perfectly well; Guan Su Lin was teasing her. She smiled gently. "It's okay, I believe you wouldn’t do anything to hurt me."
Guan Su Lin squinted and smiled back. "Of course."
After saying that, he turned around and deleted Wei Jingxi's comment—it was just too bothersome to see. Yet inexplicably, Guan Su Lin found himself opening Wei Jingxi's Moments.
They had dated before; surely he would post updates. With a mindset of learning and emulating, Guan Su Lin began to study it seriously.
Wei Jingxi's Moments were bustling with activity, seemingly endless. He posted updates every three days on average, sometimes even multiple times in one day. Early posts featured personal photos; mid-phase included pictures from dates with Zheng Mengni; and lately, they were filled with sour and bittersweet captions.
Guan Su Lin couldn't help but smile at first but gradually furrowed his brow. An incongruous expression appeared on his delicate face, making it look somewhat twisted and cold.
He couldn't help but glance at Zheng Mengni, feeling an inexplicable sense of relief.
Fortunately, there were no traces of Wei Jingxi in her social circle anymore.
However, there was also no sign of him.
Although it was all an act, her attitude and integrity were far from commendable—careless, unprofessional, and irresponsible. She didn't even bother to post an official announcement; she really wasn't afraid of being exposed.
