Wei Jingxi had arranged to meet Zheng Mengni in the study room, but was stopped by Luo Xuezhi at the stairway. She softly asked, "Are you free later?"
In a good mood, Wei Jingxi casually replied, "Not free."
It's like this: your dad's friend's daughter just returned from studying abroad for eight years and isn't familiar with the domestic environment. As he prepared to take a detour to the right, his phone in his pocket began to vibrate furiously. He stopped and glanced at the caller ID, his face lighting up with joy as he answered, "I'll be out soon."
Before he could finish his sentence, Wei Jingxi's expression suddenly changed; the smile on his lips froze. He turned his back to Luo Xuezhi, who was completely unaware of his emotional shift.
Seeing Wei Jingxi walk away without a word, Luo Xuezhi felt frustrated that her plan was falling apart. After all, finding a suitable candidate was difficult, and it wasn't easy to carve out free time.
Not ready to give up, she followed behind him and said sweetly, "If you don't have time today, could you at least leave your contact information?"
Wei Jingxi ignored her completely; cold sweat was already forming on his forehead.
Luo Xuezhi struggled to keep up with him and reached out to tug at his arm. "Do you not understand human language?"
Wei Jingxi's anger was fully ignited. With a darkened face, he covered the phone receiver with one hand and forcefully shook off her grip.
He held back his strength but made it clear he wanted no part of this.
As Wei Jingxi waved his hand dismissively, Luo Xuezhi's eyes flickered with a sudden change of plan. She leaned back dramatically as if pushed by him and fell heavily to the ground.
However, the situation was not quite what Luo Xuezhi had anticipated. She was more composed than Wei Jingxi. All she wanted was to fall and scare him a little, prompting Wei Nanxuan to criticize him for being so rude and lacking in manners all the time.
Luo Xuezhi never expected that a light fall could hurt this much; even though she was pregnant, it shouldn’t have been this painful. Her face turned pale as she winced.
Wei Jingxi stood frozen in place, having just hung up on Zheng Mengni's call without hesitation. His cold expression was filled with confusion and disbelief. Had he really been that forceful just now?
As he looked at the blood seeping from beneath Luo Xuezhi, his gaze darkened with pain and anger. He couldn’t remember what had happened. His mind had been entirely focused on Zheng Mengni’s family matters.
Just moments ago, Xiao Ni had called him to say that something urgent had come up at her home, and she wouldn’t be able to go out today. Before he could clarify the details, Luo Xuezhi had fallen and started bleeding.
