She turned her head, looking a bit shy at Shen Die. "Can I be alone with him? There are too many people here, and I feel a bit uncomfortable."
Shen Die's gaze was ambiguous. "Sure, you can do whatever you want."
The word "do" was emphasized as she bit it off.
Zheng Mengni booked a private diamond room for them. She elegantly crossed her legs and sat in the middle, only turning on the lights in the outermost row, leaving the surroundings dim and desolate.
Holding a glass of wine, Zheng Mengni casually asked, "How old are you?"
"Twenty."
"Very young. Aren't you in school?"
"I am, but this is part-time."
"Are you in a hurry for money?"
"Yes."
Zheng Mengni smiled. "But education is important; it will help you earn more money in the future. Working here is just a way to eat off your youth. After twenty-five, it might be hard to continue."
Gao Lei remained silent; he was usually quiet. However, his manager had advised him that he needed to speak up when necessary to earn more money.
"I can separate work from study. I'm just temporarily in need of money," he found himself explaining more than he intended.
This profession wasn't exactly honorable. Yet, since he had made the decision to come here, why should he fear being looked down upon?
The girl before him was the most beautiful person Gao Lei had ever seen. Her gaze was as gentle as water, devoid of any aggression, yet it inexplicably made him feel breathless.
Zheng Mengni softly said, "If I pay you, can I do anything to you?"
Gao Lei's face flushed red as he weakly murmured an agreement.
He was mentally prepared for this. Besides, with a client as exceptional as her, no matter what happened, he wouldn't be the one at a disadvantage.
Zheng Mengni suddenly asked, "Are you afraid of pain?"
"No," Gao Lei replied.
It had been a while since he spoke, and his voice was a bit hoarse, but it didn't detract from its charm.
Zheng Mengni smiled gently. "Don't lie. If you're afraid of pain, we can play something else."
"I can handle it."
Zheng Mengni patted his head approvingly. "You're brave, but I might be a bit rough next. Can you endure it?"
She grasped the back of Gao Lei's neck and pushed him aside, then stood up slowly to select items that the manager had prepared in advance.
Holding his face, Zheng Mengni whispered, "Actually, I've been feeling really down lately. If I don't vent, I think I'm going to lose it."
The unknown fear made Gao Lei tremble involuntarily. He had heard stories about some twisted clients who enjoyed tormenting others. Yet, he simply couldn't associate the pure and beautiful Zheng Mengni with those kinds of people. She was just so gentle.
Zheng Mengni was speaking the truth.
Gao Lei gazed at her smile with fascination; if this was what it took to see her so radiant, he would gladly endure anything.
After all, this was his job.
The groan that threatened to escape his lips was swallowed down, quickly transforming into a question he hesitated to ask. "Why are you feeling down?"
Zheng Mengni's eyes momentarily regained clarity as the annoying face of Ye Bingran flashed before her mind.
"It's nothing, really. I just encountered a disobedient cat. I'm worried it might scratch me, and I'm troubled about how to dull its claws."
Gao Lei let out a muffled groan, cold sweat breaking out on his forehead. "It's not a cat; it's a person, right?"
Zheng Mengni smiled. "You're quite clever, but I don't like clever people. So please, try to be a little foolish for me."
