Qin Yue felt uncomfortable; this was the most expensive piece of clothing in her wardrobe. Sigh, she couldn't possibly argue with a fool.
She took two steps back and tentatively said, "Xia Shu, let me take you out to eat. I have some snacks in my backpack."
Xia Shu took off running, turning back to make a face at her. "You, come chase me! If you catch me, I'll let you come along!"
Qin Yue gasped and resigned herself to running after her. Wasn't it you who asked me to come along? She silently complained.
Behind her, Wang Xia called out worriedly, "Qin Yue, please help keep an eye on Xia Shu."
Xia Shu ran quickly, and when she saw that Qin Yue couldn't catch up, she deliberately slowed down. As soon as Qin Yue got close, she took off again, sprinting far ahead.
Qin Yue was panting. Her simple nature made it hard for her to realize she was being played. She bent over the railing and called out, "Don't run away!"
Xia Shu ignored her.
Qin Yue muttered under her breath, "Aren't you hungry? How can you run so fast?" It dawned on her: Xia Shu...
Xia Shu turned back and stopped right in front of her without saying a word. For some reason, Qin Yue thought she saw a hint of unusual emotion in Xia Shu's dazed eyes.
She must be overthinking it.
Suddenly, Xia Shu plopped down on the ground and began to throw a tantrum.
Qin Yue felt overwhelmed. "What’s wrong with you now?"
Xia Shu cried loudly without stopping.
Qin Yue couldn’t understand what she was saying. She was tired from running, and the ground was too dirty; she couldn’t just sit down like a fool.
So, Qin Yue squatted down and silently recited math formulas in her mind, preparing to counteract the situation with logic.
In the next moment, Xia Shu tugged at the corner of her clothing, refusing to let go.
Qin Yue's face turned pale. "Sister, you should be older than me, right? You can't bully me like this. Let go! If you tear it, who will pay for it?"
"I want! I want!"
"What do you want?"
"Give it to me!"
Xia Shu stared blankly at the corner of her clothing.
Looking at Xia Shu, who resembled a muddy ball, Qin Yue suddenly realized, "You want my clothes? Do you have any? I want to be clean."
Qin Yue scoffed, "If you stop rolling on the ground, wouldn't you be clean?"
Xia Shu remained silent, seemingly not understanding.
Qin Yue sighed in exasperation. "Let go! I'll take you to wash up first; otherwise, you can't wear my clothes."
Finally, Xia Shu released her grip.
This time, Qin Yue led the way while Xia Shu followed closely behind her.
As they turned a corner, Xia Shu didn't continue forward. She leaned against the wall and secretly took out her phone hidden in her pocket.
Her boss had sent her a message.
The person was pressuring her, saying it sounded impressive.
"Perform well; if you do well, you'll get what you want."
Xia Shu gritted her teeth in frustration, her eyes filled with clarity.
She raised her phone and snapped a few photos to send: dirty clothes, filthy pants, and deliberately untied shoelaces.
Her boss wanted regular checks to ensure she was putting in effort and not getting caught.
At first, Xia Shu didn't think her boss was reliable, but by the time she realized it, she had inexplicably boarded a pirate ship and found herself unable to get off.
She considered herself unfortunate to be playing the fool at Fu Yuan, yet sometimes she fantasized about what it would be like if the plan actually succeeded. After all, the boss didn’t seem as unreliable as she had imagined.
Now, with the trap fully prepared, the plan was officially underway. The prey she had been waiting for had finally arrived.
Meanwhile, Zheng Mengni and Tan Yan stood at the entrance of Fu Yuan. From a distance, Wang Xia spotted a slender figure holding an umbrella. In the fine drizzle, the umbrella was slightly raised, revealing half of a damp face.
The moment their eyes met, a serene and elegant smile blossomed on Zheng Mengni's lips. She softly inquired, "Director?"
