On the weekend, the day of the date arrived.
Yesterday, Wei Jingxi had gotten a tattoo and returned home late. To avoid any risk of infection, he decided to take a shower the next morning. In the bathroom, he meticulously cleaned himself from head to toe, leaving no part unattended.
The water temperature was set high, and when Wei Jingxi stepped out of the bathroom, steam enveloped him. He felt warm all over, his pale skin tinged with a rosy hue. Even as he entered the dressing room, the heat on his face had not dissipated. After rummaging through his things for a while, he changed into a fresh pair of underwear without batting an eye, though his ears felt slightly flushed. This pair accentuated his physique.
Although he was already quite handsome, he always aimed to look his best in front of others. After taking care of himself internally, Wei Jingxi found himself dissatisfied with his outfit choices. His standards were high; after putting together one outfit, he felt compelled to find something even better.
After much deliberation, he settled on a black short-sleeved cardigan over a dark graffiti tank top. Initially, he paired it with matching denim pants but found it too plain and switched to eye-catching red athletic shorts instead.
Wei Jingxi sifted through his accessories and chose three necklaces of varying lengths to layer together, complemented by an extravagant mechanical watch on his wrist. Standing in front of the mirror, he groomed his eyebrows.
He didn’t need glasses but wore a pair of dark cosmetic contact lenses for a refined look. After applying sunscreen and primer, he finished with a light dusting of powder and setting spray.
Once everything was done and his hair was styled, Wei Jingxi applied some hair wax and slicked it back, pushing aside the bangs that fell over his forehead. He used a comb to tidy up while setting the style in place.
With everything in order, Wei Jingxi selected a bottle of alluring perfume that was essential for any date. He spritzed some behind his ears, on his wrist, and at the chest area of his clothing—ensuring that Zheng Mengni would catch a whiff of it whether they embraced or kissed.
Finally, Wei Jingxi sprayed some green tea-scented mouth spray before putting on sunglasses and heading out. He drove away in the most expensive and eye-catching supercar from his garage to pick up Zheng Mengni.
When he arrived at Zheng Family Villa, Zheng Mengni was already waiting outside. Her delicate features were adorned with a sweet and exquisite makeup look, and her round doe-like eyes sparkled with innocent joy.
“Good morning,” she greeted him cheerfully.
As Wei Jingxi opened the car door for her, he couldn’t help but smile; today promised to be their most beautiful date yet.
Amusement park?
Zheng Mengni bit her lip, unable to hold back a smile. "I thought your idea for a date would be to go play golf or to vacation on your private island."
Wei Jingxi replied, "I've never been to a place like this; I wanted to try something new."
Zheng Mengni smiled softly. "Well."
Wei Jingxi took his hand out of his pocket, having deliberately sprayed some perfume inside before they left. After some time, it should have soaked in nicely. He reached out and took Zheng Mengni's hand, their palms touching as his fingers slid between hers, intertwining their ten fingers.
"Let's go in."
Zheng Mengni didn't move. She gently said, "Wait a moment."
Wei Jingxi turned back to meet her gaze and noticed that she was looking down, rummaging through her bag. Suddenly, she pulled out a dark green brocade box and looked up at him with a bright smile.
"Here, this is a gift for our date—a memento of our first outing together."
Wei Jingxi was taken aback for a moment as he reached out to take the gift. His heart raced uncontrollably, and he felt a tingling sensation all over, especially at the spot behind his ear where his tattoo was, as if he had been electrocuted.
He feigned calmness. "Just being here is enough; you even prepared a gift? I didn't expect you to be so into the idea of rituals."
"Isn't preparing a gift the right thing to do?" Zheng Mengni pouted her pink lips and suddenly remembered something. Her tone shifted with curiosity. "Oh? You didn’t prepare anything for me, did you?"
"Gifts are just formalities; what's the point of that? We’re here to have fun," Wei Jingxi teased her deliberately, his gaze never leaving Zheng Mengni's fair face as if searching for some detail.
However, Wei Jingxi suddenly felt a bit annoyed.
