Li Huimei nodded decisively, "Yes, I think he’s good-looking. I like him." 0

Lu shook her head regretfully. "But no! I heard Jiang Qing has a childhood betrothal back home. Are you still going to hold on?" 0

"Huh? A childhood betrothal?" 0

"Doesn't that mean he already has someone? Doesn’t that leave me with no chance?" 0

"Oh, heavens!" 0

Li Huimei sighed dramatically, pouting in distress before immediately lowering her head in disappointment. "I finally found someone I like, only to find out he’s taken. What am I supposed to do now?" 0

Seeing her like this, Lu couldn't help but chuckle. She patted Li Huimei's back to comfort her. "Alright, alright, don’t be sad. I only heard it from someone else; I don’t know if it’s true. Why don’t you just ask him the next time you see him?" 0

"If he really does have someone, then I’ll give up. But if not, then I still have a chance." 0

Listening to Lu's comforting words, Li Huimei felt her spirits lift again. "Right! I can’t give up so easily; I have to hold on." 0

The young girl pumped herself up, puffing out her cheeks and clenching her fists at her sides. 0

Lu glanced at her and quietly asked, "I think Liu Heng is pretty good too. Don’t you get along well with him?" 0

"Really? Aren't we just friends?" 0

It was similar to how she interacted with Daniu from the village; their conversations were always interesting. 0

But Daniu was just a seven-year-old kid! 0

Talking to him could be a bit boring. 0

Conversing with Liu Heng was definitely more engaging. 0

The two of them headed directly to the family courtyard to say goodbye to Wen Qian. 0

Wen Qian saw them and happily welcomed them in. "So, did you have a fruitful day?" 0

It was the first time she had heard of such an event, and Wen Qian was actually quite interested in seeing it for herself. However, since she was already married, it wouldn’t be appropriate for her to go. 0

Moreover, Lu Zheng had been home all day; she couldn’t just leave like that. 0

He was struggling with life on his own; it was better for her to stay. 0

"It's not bad," Li Huimei said, unable to contain herself. She nervously looked at Wen Qian and asked, "Sister Wen, do you know if Jiang Qing has a partner? Or if he has someone back home?" 0

This caught Wen Qian off guard; she didn’t really keep track of Jiang Qing's situation. 0

But she shared what she knew, which was similar to what Lu had said. 0

After chatting for a while longer, both of them returned home. 0

Wen Qian sighed as she entered the house. She looked at Lu Chen diligently folding clothes and walked over to ask, "Chen Chen, why are you folding clothes?" 0

"Mom, Dad asked me to fold my clothes neatly because we’ll need them later," Lu Chen replied earnestly. 0

Wen Qian was somewhat puzzled about what Lu Zheng was up to, so she walked into another empty room. Lu Zheng had started tidying up early that morning and had already cleaned everything, even sweeping the floor. After finishing his chores, he had lunch and then left, and he still hadn’t returned. 0

Knock, knock! 0

"Sister-in-law!" 0

Wen Qian heard the sound and went to open the door, only to find a young soldier she didn’t recognize. 0

The young soldier smiled at Wen Qian and said, "Sister-in-law, we’ve come to deliver the bed." 0

"The bed?" 0

"Yes, Commander Lu asked us to hurry and make it. We finished it today and brought it over." 0

Although Wen Qian was confused, she let them bring the bed inside. Once it was set up in the empty room, Lu Zheng returned. 0

"The bed is here?" 0

"Commander Lu, we let it air out for a while before bringing it over. We were worried you might need it." 0

Lu Zheng looked at the bed in the room with satisfaction and then turned to Wen Qian, extending his hand. "Wife, give me the money!" 0

The young soldier stifled a laugh at Lu Zheng’s smooth gesture; he couldn’t help but turn away, chuckling. It was clear who the boss of the household was. 0

Wen Qian shot him a glare and went inside to get the money to hand to Lu Zheng for the young soldier. 0

"Thank you, Commander Lu! We’ll be on our way now." 0

As they left, the young soldier couldn’t contain his laughter while looking at Lu Zheng and Wen Qian. 0

Once they were gone, Wen Qian sighed helplessly, realizing that news of Commander Lu being afraid of his wife would probably spread quickly. She couldn’t bear to think about how her reputation in the army might worsen! 0

Lu Zheng rushed into the room and pulled out blankets from the wardrobe to spread on the bed. Despite only having one arm that could move freely, he worked efficiently. In no time at all, he had everything laid out neatly. 0

Wen Qian leaned against the doorframe, watching him curiously as she glanced at the blankets on the bed and asked in confusion, "Didn’t I buy these?" 0

"I bought them." 0

"When?" 0

"A few days ago; I specifically asked someone to make them quickly." 0

Wen Qian looked at him with some exasperation; he had hidden it well enough that she hadn’t noticed anything even when they were stored in the wardrobe. 0

"Dad, who’s sleeping here?" 0

Lu Chen mimicked Wen Qian’s posture, crossing his arms and leaning against the doorframe. His eyes sparkled as he looked at the bed. 0

"Chen Chen, do you want to sleep here?" 0

Lu Zheng gestured for Lu Chen to come over. Lu Chen quickly ran over and jumped into Lu Zheng's arms. 0

"Dad, really?" 0

"Of course! Do you want to give it a try?" 0

With that, Lu Zheng picked up Lu Chen with one hand and tossed him onto the bed, playing around with him for a while. 0

The little guy was delighted, happily hugging Lu Zheng's neck and rubbing against him. "Daddy, is this really my room? It's so big! I love it!" 0

Hearing the child's words, Wen Qian raised her eyebrows in disbelief as she looked at the two of them. Just a few days ago, Chen Chen hadn’t said anything like this. Why had his attitude changed so quickly? 0

"Yes, from now on, this will be Chen Chen's room, and only Chen Chen will be here," Lu Zheng said, watching Lu Chen's joyful expression, feeling more resolute in his decision. 0

"Yay! Yay!" 0

"You haven't thought about how the weather is getting colder. If you separate Chen Chen from me now, he won't be able to handle it in winter. He should still sleep with us," Lu Zheng nodded while continuing to stoke the fire at the stove. 0

"I know, but let him adjust for a bit first; being apart for a while is fine," he replied. 0

Lu Zheng looked directly at Wen Qian, making her heart race and her cheeks flush slightly as she turned away shyly. 0

Wen Qian felt her heartbeat quicken; she sensed that Lu Zheng was a bit different now. He wasn't like this before—he was steady and calm, nothing like he was now. It felt almost like he was being a rogue. 0

Lu Zheng chuckled softly and glanced down at his injured arm, letting out a helpless sigh. "Why does it have to fail me at such a crucial moment?" 0

After dinner, Lu Chen insisted that Lu Zheng hurry up and take him to shower; he couldn't wait to try out the bed. It was specially made for him by Daddy, and the quilt was just perfect. He felt so lucky to be Lu Chen! 0

"Daddy is really the best! I have my own little room now." 0

The two went to wash up while Wen Qian cleaned the dishes. She then went into the room to read, waiting for them to finish. However, her mind was in turmoil; her heart raced as she couldn't focus on the words in the book, nervously listening to the sounds coming from outside. 0
