As soon as Chi Mu Jiu stepped out of the venue, a group of over ten people flooded into the VIP room, creating an atmosphere that made the once spacious area feel cramped.
Among them, three individuals were battered and bruised, their faces swollen and marked with blood. Their clothes were torn, and their hair hung messily over their faces, making it difficult to recognize them. When they saw the handsome, cold man sitting on the sofa, their eyes filled with terror and despair.
With a thud, they fell to their knees before Du Hengyan, trembling uncontrollably. They knocked their heads against the floor repeatedly, begging for mercy with voices laced with endless fear and pleading, as if the world was about to collapse around them.
"Boss Du, we know we were wrong. Please give us a way out!"
"Please, please! Boss Du! I’ll pay you whatever you want! I can give you anything!"
One of them was in tears, his voice hoarse as he tried to lunge forward to grab Du Hengyan's leg but was kicked back by Ye Qi.
"We didn’t know that was your goods! If we had known, even if you gave us a hundred lives, we wouldn’t have dared!"
Another joined in the cries, his forehead red and swollen from repeatedly knocking it against the ground.
Du Hengyan merely looked down at these disheveled figures with an icy gaze devoid of any pity.
"Why don’t you three discuss this among yourselves?" His voice was as cold as ice. "I only need one person to go back and deliver a message."
His words rang out like a death sentence in the quiet VIP room. The three kneeling on the ground immediately understood what he meant.
If they could get out, they could live. But only one would be allowed to leave.
In the next moment, they turned into frenzied beasts, fighting each other with wild punches, desperate to eliminate one another for a chance at survival. Their curses and screams intertwined, plunging the entire VIP room into chaos.
Du Hengyan didn’t spare them another glance. He calmly stood up, adjusted his clothing slightly, and walked straight out the door.
Ye Qi followed closely by his side, his steps steady and resolute.
"Ye Qi, I’ll step out for a bit. You handle this; don’t let anyone die here—it’s bad luck," Du Hengyan said with a stern expression and concise words.
After all, this place held fond memories for him; he didn’t want to spoil the mood.
"Are you going out alone?"
Ye Qi felt a hint of worry as he fixed his gaze on Du Chengyan's stern face.
"Once everything is settled, I'll take the brothers back. You don't need to wait for me," Du Chengyan said, nodding slightly with a tone that was resolute and left no room for doubt.
"Alright, boss," Ye Qi replied, though a flicker of uncertainty lingered in his heart. He understood his boss's character well enough not to press for more details. While he didn't know where Du Chengyan was headed, it was highly likely that he was going to find that woman from the country.
That woman seemed to possess a unique allure; in just a short time, she had managed to unsettle his usually composed boss.
The one who is involved is often confused, while the observer sees clearly! Ye Qi firmly believed that his typically aloof and disinterested boss had likely fallen in love.
"Please be careful," he couldn't help but voice his concern.
In Ye Qi's eyes, Du Chengyan was not just his boss; he was someone worthy of respect and loyalty.
Du Chengyan nodded, choosing not to say more. He turned and strode toward the car waiting at the entrance before driving away.
The vehicle sped off, leaving behind a cloud of dust that lingered in the air.
After arriving at her hotel room, Chi Mu Jiu found it hard to shake off her emotions. She sat on the edge of the bed, her brow furrowed and her mind in turmoil.
On one hand, she pondered how to handle things when Du Chengyan arrived; on the other hand, she worried about what would happen if he didn’t show up at all.
