The shadow guard he had been given was his own, and would not report his matters to the Emperor. Otherwise, he wouldn't have left him his life. He recalled Song Feiwan's resolute demeanor when she left. He seemed reluctant to elaborate further and abruptly changed the subject: "The midwife who delivered Song Feiwan has died, and her relatives have long since disappeared. Based on timing alone, it is very possible that Song Feiwan is my child."
Her mother poisoned her, perhaps not wanting this impure-blooded child to come into the world.
The cold gaze of his son made this aging father feel utterly ashamed. Embarrassment turned to anger as he averted his eyes.
"I never intended for you to know this. I tried to keep it from you. But if she truly is your sister, what will you do?"
"Nothing," Xiao Yu replied without hesitation.
As the tumultuous thoughts in his mind faded away, only his resolute heart remained in that moment.
The Emperor stared in shock, his eyes wide: "Are you certain?"
"Certain." Xiao Yu looked at him steadily, each word he spoke was powerful and clear. "No matter who she is, no matter what her status is, I will claim her."
No one shall take her away from me.
Though he appeared calm, this fierce declaration made the Emperor suddenly entertain a thought: He’s gone mad; he truly has! If I insist on stopping him, does he really intend to kill me?
The Emperor's face darkened, but he refrained from voicing that question. Instead, he smashed his teacup and shouted angrily, "You insolent fool, get out!"
Xiao Yu maintained a cold expression as he raised his hand in salute. "Your son takes his leave."
After taking two steps away, the Emperor called out to him in a chilling tone.
"Xiao Yu, I will not interfere with this twisted fate; if she willingly follows you, so be it. But if you harm her, I will send her far away where you will never find her again."
