"Doctor Song!" Her tone was filled with gratitude. "The medicine you prescribed really works! I've felt so much lighter these days!"
Song Feiwan smiled and said, "Don't get too excited. Let's sit down and talk."
Ning Yuqin changed her previous attitude, nodding repeatedly as she took Song Feiwan's hand and sat down, carefully recounting her recent situation.
As she spoke, her eyes reddened. "I never expected that my illness could actually be treated. Thank you, Doctor Song."
"You're welcome," Song Feiwan replied. "Extend your hand; let me check your pulse."
"Okay."
Ning Yuqin was fully cooperative now, her gaze filled with trust.
After checking her pulse, Song Feiwan withdrew her hand and said, "There is indeed some improvement. When did you start acupuncture?"
"Now?"
"Alright."
Song Feiwan instructed her to remove her clothing and lie on the bed, focusing intently as she began the acupuncture treatment.
Once she finished all the needles and confirmed that Ning Yuqin felt no discomfort, she said, "You can wait for a quarter of an hour."
"Mm," Ning Yuqin finally dared to speak, turning her head. "Doctor Song, I have one more thing to tell you."
"What is it?"
"The fools from the Xu family targeted Rong Anning at the instigation of Song Shuyao. I can't disclose how I found out, but I assure you this is absolutely true."
Song Feiwan frowned and coldly smiled. "So she still has a hand in this."
Ning Yuqin continued, "However, Song Shuyao didn't act personally; she bribed the servants of the Xu residence. After the incident, that person was dealt with by her first."
Song Feiwan remarked, "No evidence left behind—just like my sister's style."
Ning Yuqin expressed her disdain for Song Shuyao. "Upon learning of my illness, she started seducing the Crown Prince ahead of time. What good could come from someone like that?"
"If you can cure my illness," Ning Yuqin's expression brightened, "her reaction will surely be spectacular."
Thinking of that scene made Song Feiwan laugh out loud. "Haha!"
Ning Yuqin laughed along and seriously told Song Feiwan, "Actually, I decided to meet you at the palace banquet because you once conveyed information about Song Shuyao to me. You helped me learn the truth; I still owe you a thank you."
Song Feiwan shook her head. "You helped me too; we are even on that matter."
Ning Yuqin lay on the pillow, gazing ahead with genuine affection and admiration, sighing, "If only I weren't the Crown Princess and you weren't the Consort of Prince Chen, we could meet openly without any worries."
Song Feiwan smiled but remained silent. Perhaps when she no longer held the title of Consort of Prince Chen, that dream could become a reality.
Then there was Xiao Yan. Ning Yuqin scoffed, thinking of that foolish man who was blind to his own shortcomings. Was he not a thousand times worse than his sister?
Song Feiwan chuckled softly, "Hey, what do you mean? Are you suggesting I marry Xiao Yan?"
"Of course not!" Ning Yuqin hurriedly explained. "I just think it would be a blessing to be sisters in the same household with you. With you around, my days would surely be anything but dull."
"Forget it," Song Feiwan replied. "I have no desire to share a husband with another woman."
Ning Yuqin paused for a moment before breaking into a bitter smile. "You’re right. But how many men in this world would remain faithful?"
"If he is unfaithful, then I will leave him. I won't compromise my own happiness," Song Feiwan declared firmly.
Ning Yuqin was taken aback. "Even if that man is Prince Chen?"
"Even if that man is Prince Chen," Song Feiwan affirmed with a nod.
Ning Yuqin's gaze deepened with envy as she said, "It's admirable that you can think that way."
Thinking back to her past—riding with a spear, trapped beneath high walls—only deep sorrow remained within her.
What she could not attain, she hoped Song Feiwan would achieve.
