With the few medicinal herbs granted by Consort Rong, along with several other herbs, it was possible to concoct a remedy to delay the onset of poison. Therefore, she needed to visit the medical hall to purchase these herbs. 0

The Xinglin Medical Hall was located on Shenwu Main Street. It was evening, and the sky was painted with a brilliant sunset. The streets were bustling with people, lively and crowded. The doors of the medical hall were open, and inside, apart from patients and doctors, several assistants were busily moving about. 0

Behind a circular wooden counter stood a man in a long robe, responsible for dispensing medicine. Behind him were stacks of medicine boxes piled high to the ceiling, each box engraved with the names of the herbs inside. 0

As she stepped into the hall, the familiar bitter scent of medicine greeted her. An assistant approached her and asked warmly, "Miss, are you here for a consultation or to pick up medicine? If it's for a consultation, please head upstairs." 0

Song Feiwan instinctively glanced up at the second floor and indeed spotted several rooms separated by curtains. Outside one of those rooms stood two men in black attire, muscular and imposing. Their bone structure was deep-set and angular, resembling not the people of Da Zhou but rather foreign nationals. 0

The two men were particularly sharp-eyed and quickly turned their gazes toward her. Knowing that the capital was filled with hidden talents and dangers, Song Feiwan did not wish to provoke any trouble and swiftly looked away. 0

She replied gently to the assistant, "I’m here to pick up medicine." 0

"Please come this way for your medicine. Do you have a prescription?" he inquired. 0

"I do," she answered. The prescription was written by Song Feiwan herself; besides what she needed, she had included several other herbs to throw off any suspicion. 0

The dispensing man carefully reviewed the prescription and said to her, "Miss, all the herbs on this list can be provided except for the Xiaming Flower." 0

Song Feiwan frowned slightly at this. Why was it that the Xiaming Flower was indispensable? Unwilling to give up so easily, she asked, "Do other medical halls have Xiaming Flower?" 0

"At this time of year, the Xiaming flower is rare. Even the Xinglin Medical Hall doesn't have any, and other places are even less likely to," the gentleman replied. 0

Noticing Song Feiwan's downcast expression, he added, "It's truly unfortunate. The last Xiaming flower in our hall was bought by a guest from upstairs." 0

Song Feiwan's eyes lit up as she looked up. Missing out on this one meant she might not get another chance. In a life-or-death situation, even the slightest hope was worth pursuing. So, after grabbing her medicine, she inquired about the patient who had purchased the Xiaming flower and hurriedly made her way upstairs, clutching her medicine bag and lifting her skirt as she hurried along. 0

Coincidentally, the two foreign men with distinct bone structures were guarding the entrance to the treatment room. 0

A pair of white linen cloths hung from the door, forming a makeshift curtain that only covered half of it. From below, she could vaguely see the furnishings inside. The space was small, equipped with simple tables and chairs, a wooden bed, a soft mat for pulse diagnosis, and a set of silver needles on the table. 0

As she approached, she heard a middle-aged man's weathered voice from within: "Your symptoms suggest that..." 0

Before he could finish his sentence, he fell silent. 0

Who were they? The two foreign men spoke with an accent. They stood firmly blocking the door, watching her warily while their hands moved toward their waists. 0

Song Feiwan's eyes flickered as she guessed they were armed. Pretending not to notice, she greeted them with a slight bow and smiled gently. "My name is Song; my father is currently an Inspector in the court." 0

If they were also officials, surely they would give her some face. 0

However, the two men merely exchanged glances before the one on the left asked, "May I ask what brings Miss Song here?" 0

"I have a matter I would like to discuss with your master," she replied. 0

The two men were unable to make decisions themselves but lifted one corner of the curtain to peek inside. 0
