Ruan Fuxi turned to look at him. "You are Zhan."
Zhan sneered, his eyes glinting with greed as he took in her vibrant energy. "You killed my daughter; therefore, you shall pay with your life."
Ruan Fuxi remained unperturbed and scrutinized him instead. "You really are quite ugly."
Zhan's expression turned icy. "Still defiant even when death is imminent."
Ruan Fuxi asked, "How did you get in here?"
Zhan's face broke into a smug smile. "Aren't you clever? Why don't you guess? If you can't figure it out, you can stay in the underworld and think it over. Oh, wait, you won't even have a soul left to go there."
Ignoring his taunts, Ruan Fuxi continued to scrutinize him and then confidently declared, "You are an evil cultivator!"
Zhan's expression changed instantly, followed by a cold laugh. "You do have some brains, but now that you know my identity, there's no way you're getting out. You and your man will stay here together!"
Ruan Fuxi glanced around and noticed that a barrier had been set up around them, preventing anyone from noticing this place. Instead of feeling afraid, a smirk tugged at her lips. "As the acting leader of the Mountain Sect, you're rather overconfident in yourself."
She recognized that Zhan had reached the Golden Core stage, but so what? She was not lacking either. Not to mention she had Xuan Ye, a nascent soul stage cultivator, as her backup—what was there to fear?
Before Zhan could respond, Ruan Fuxi took the initiative and struck first. After confirming Zhan's identity as an evil cultivator, she began to understand what had happened to her fellow cultivators during the exchange conference—they might have been used as nourishment for Zhan, drained of their spiritual energy until they perished.
